Good post! I posted this before but think it is worth repeating: Over 90,000 dogs and cats are killed every year in Atlanta area shelters. It is a problem of epidemic proportions. More pets are killed in Atlanta area shelters than in the entire country of Great Britain, New York City or the states of Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Oregon or Washington. Most of the pets that enter Atlanta shelters are family pets that have become lost or have strayed from home, but without an ID tag the shelters have no way of identifying them. Please help us help the homeless pets and prevent more from becoming homeless by spaying and neutering all of your pets, by keeping an ID tag on your pets 24/7, by adopting rather than buying a pet and by making a commitment to keep your pet for its entire lifetime.

Tcat, Rottie and Rocky So, how do we get the word out? I mean Bob Barker and Betty White have been saying ot for years, how do we get their attention? Have a show on what happens to your unwanted pet? Show the little pups and kittens being euthanized? What will get through?

Okay, I am at work at the pet shop and when I go to the door, to let a client in, there is a navy blue pillowcase. I have no idea what it is. A snake? A possum? What could it be? I bring it in and set it on the floor trying to HEAR a noise. I hear nothing. About an hour later I move the case and hear a hiss. Carefully, I cut a hole in it and increase its size gradually -- until a kitten head pops out! Six of the best looking kitties ever! We found homes for them. Today, we had message which was a girl crying begging us to take her kittens. She does not want them to be killed at the shelter. HERE IS A REVELATION: RESPONSIBLE BREEDING How can people in this day and age NOT get their animals spayed or neutered? Dear God, the shelters are full of unwanted pets and yet people refuse to get their pets "fixed". That is just what the people at the shelters want to see -- more kittens and pups being euthanized! Unbelievable! Why won't people "fix" their pet? Do they want to just see the little fur balls -- "Oh, they are so cute!" But then they wind up sticking then in a bag and making it my/our responsibility to find them homes. Give me a break. Have a heart, unless you are a responsible breeder; Spay or neuter your pets -- PLEASE. I hate to see another kitten or pup at the shelter with the sign "LAST DAY AVAILABLE -- TODAY"

WOW I feel like we should run the sound track "Sisters, Sisters..." I was at a store in the air-conditioned shoe department and broke into a sweat. I looked a fright. It was as if I had run ten miles and this little southern lady walked up to me and said, "Are you having a private summer, dear?" I belly laughed!!!!!!

Well... Nightmare... I had a hysterectomy, which put me right in the middle of it. They gave me premarine as a hormone replacement. I gained much weight and went to the Doctor and said I went from a 4/6 to a size 14 in less than 90 days! My feet swelled.... Now, after years of arguing, they find the Doctor gave me something like 8 times the amount I should have received! I told the Doctor I wanted something natural but did not think of "pregnant mare urine" as natural per say. (premarine) Finally, I am on a natural hormone cream and it is better. (If you need the name let me know) The good news is I do not have to walk down THAT aisle anymore at the grocery store... ;)-->

Jardinero I think we may know each other as I was in Hereford, PA -- those years. Do you remember Dan Moran? He was WOW in Norristown around then... Andy God Bless you! I had colitis when I was 15/16 (?) years old. The doctor told me that usually only older folks had it and asked about my childhood. Like you it was an interesting one. Fortunately, I never got to the point to which you got. But I can sympathize! Many a day, in my teens, I laid on the bathroom floor holding my stomach rocking back and forth. The pain is enormous. My heart goes out to you. So, if colitis is stress induced the pressure form TWI must have doubled you over. I am so sorry some jacka-- told you to abundant share more. How much LOVE was in that statement? Geeeezzz, what the human race does to one another..... Ya know, one time I witnessed to a guy who was so anti-god it was amazing. He told me he had been a catholic and his wife was dying. The priest was there to do the last rites thing. And the priest told this woman because she married a divorced man that she would go to hell unless she denounced her marriage. Frightened of going to hell, her dying words were that she denounced her marraige and asked God to forgive her for the sin of marrying the guy..... It just blows my mind how cruel people can be in the name of God. Thank God you were blessed and are now out of pain. I rejoice with you! As far as being an introvert? I must say, you are a hoot! The funniest lines I ever read here at GS, came for you. Speaking of did VP invent the hook shot, your remark went something like this.... He told me not to go in the corps but to go through and finish college. But I thought I had a "calling". I am SOOOOO SICK I did not listen. Dad, you were right. Shaz - Mom was right! Sigh! Hope- WOW, that was in LIFE magazine? Was it just about TWI or the whole Jesus movement?

Kit! Good Advice! Do not sell your home! Again, do not sell your home! Rent it maybe, DO NOT SELL YOUR HOME. Do not throw your pets away, get them to a rescue if you are afraid to keep them. You will feel better later when you wake up. Go to your families parties. I missed mine for years, my dad's 50th, his retirement, reunions, etc. All kinds of family has died and I missed their "life". Do not forsake your secular education. Be what you wanted to be. If you are being pushed to go corps- finish college first. Fight for your degree. Or you will have a life of trying to catch up.

ISTW Have I got a jar for you!

I both worked in the field for a brief time and went to see someone after a car accident. I was afraid to leave the house and I really could have drawn the curtains and NEVER left the house. I did say that I prayed and God spoke to my heart and the person really got going about it. It frightened me, I thought shoot they could really lock me up on thinking I am hearing voices. So, I changed the wording to "I was led" and always go to a "Christian" person when I feel the need to talk things out and feel nobody is listening. I worked with this woman once, who did say she was going to shoot me and she had a gun in her car. When I went to management they laid us both off. I was devastated. I kept crying and I needed to find other employment, so I saw someone three times to talk it out. The issue was I felt "betrayed" again. It helps me at times to hear myself talk it out with a neutral party. But I know I am going to mention "God" at some point so I make sure I see someone who believes there is a "God." You could give a false name if you are paying cash, if it helps you feel more comfortable.

Kit Great post. I think we minimalized the Jesus factor in TWI. He became a tag at the end of a prayer. When I spoke with that minister from Greece who prayed for me, he and I talked about a church (TWI) who would fade Christ and the importance of the cross to the background, was anti-christ (in a way). It jolted me at what I had done to Jesus in my own life! I had made him "in the name of Jesus Christ Amen." That had become my whole relationship with him. It was very revealing.

Before the corps if VPW had passed gas I would have kept it in a jar as if it were mana from heaven! We were so silly! You said: "Ya and like the holocaust didn't really happen either." I recall trying to sell that idea to my Dad who was in the war. He kept saying, "I was there!" I was torn between my Dad being there and Moggie saying it was a myth.
