If you read this thread, you will get possessed!
satori001 replied to satori001's topic in About The Way
Can you picture John Linder speaking in tongues and clutching his bible, sweat beading on his forehead, as he clicks on this thread? Wasn't there a palpable fear of all things "devilish" in TWI, and for what? Is that what you get when you're "more than a conqueror?" Obviously not. But more-than-conquerors aren't as easy to control as the spiritual hypochondriacs we often became, especially after the Advanced Class. What TWI reinforced in us was not faith, but fear. The reason it was so effective is that we were never "more-than-conquerors" on account of Wierwille's pop-theology. We were "more-than-conjurers." As I've said before, believing = magic, as Wierwille taught it. It was a foundation of sand. It didn't work, and deny it all we could, we knew it didn't work. Okay, there are lots of anecdotal "miracles." We LOVE the anecdotes for one reason - they are the EXCEPTIONS we've hoped against all hope might have proven the rule... but folks, it doesn't work that way. Maybe in Vegas, where you play the odds. Hmm, thou shalt play thy odds above... Nope. That ain't it. God isn't the odds. God is not a statistical probability. Well, is He? I don't know what Jesus taught, and I haven't moved any mountains lately. Make that ever. All I know is, the faith of Jesus Christ (not to be confused with one of the "7 kinds of faith" in Wierwille's bull....) is far beyond any mind-controlling linguistic formula found in PFAL. Quoting the bible is not understanding the bible. Defining its terms is not. Making it "fit" is not. Retemorizing is not. Working the collaterals is not. So the truth is, this thread was a trick. It won't get you possessed. But if you already are, it might cast a few out, if you're lucky. -
Resistance is futile! :P-->

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz Wha? I'd see a doctor about it. Coyote is an amazing tune though. It was written about... me... I... think... ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

Mein Kopf? Not to be a pain in the foot, but it's probably Mein Kampf. Mein Kampf means My (lit. Camp) Platform. Mein Kopf means My Head. UNLESS! Maybe VP was saying Hitler gave g- Never mind.

WWS Ya know, there are a few I could name on Greasespot who believe that even today.

There wasn't any plot twist. I don't think we watched the same movie. If there was a plot twist, I didn't see it. I can spot those a mile away. Trust me. Raf must have walked into the wrong theater. Oh, wait a minute. You mean where the kid says he sees dead people and the guy thinks he's talking about other dead people? That was more of a curve ball than a twist. I wouldn't call it a twist.

All God's children... It will make your head spin. We are good. We are bad. Always with a good reason, quite often the wrong reason. And that little girl... And did the shopkeeper's daughter read the red box? When you recognize the scene on the poster, you will understand. If YOU'VE seen it, for God's sake (you people), don't spoil it for anyone by saying more. Nothing in this post reveals the plot. Some of you can't discuss a movie without giving it away. You know who you are, hopefully. I second the recommend. Raf is right.

I'm sure you'd all be great company, OE, as long as we agreed to avoid certain topics.
-
Zshot, thanks for the good wishes. Thought I'd replied to you earlier, but I'm... What was I talking about?
-
Wayfer Not & Onion Eater, thanks for bringing new light, and links, to the topic. I'm not a snorkeler, but I imagine few are until they get there. It's sounding better and better. "locogringo.com?" Great name for a website!

Well, there you have it Way Corps lurkers. Your tracks are safe, as long as you're still "researching" the true nature of The Way International, "incognito." Of course, TWI may try to trick you. They may raise an eyebrow and off-handedly suggest they have an inside source at Greasespot who can tell them who is posting. Now you have a few answers of your own.

We can't blame ourselves. If the "green card" had listed among it's other strange benefits ("disciplines the mind by believing" -- what??) "earn rewards and crowns from God by kissing VP's foot" then we'd only have ourselves to blame. But it didn't say that. It made a lot of promises about God, and living a magical life full of wonderful and mysterious powers. We wouldn't have joined just any fringe, spiritualist group offering the same damn laundry list of magifestations. We wanted something real. Something with in-teg-rah-tay. Vic comes along waving the bible, translating it from the Greek no less, and here's where we thought, "this is how I cut through the mumbo jumbo and get to the heart of the matter." Or something. But the longer we were in, the more we noticed how others were lining up for the privilege of kissing his foot. It was how you got your ticket punched, got in to learn the "good stuff." ATTENTION: "Kissing foot" is a figure of speech, according to E.W. Buttinger. I wish you could see that in the original. "Remember keeds," VP might have said, "you can't spell 'class' without 'foot,' and you can kiss mine right now, bless your hearts." "D'foot riiiiight."

ex10, Cozumel sounds very appealing to me, but this time it's Cancun. Thanks for the pics, mstar. Both places would be great to see. Hope it's available. D'oh!

TWI's leaders love to have their buttocks pecked lovingly by groveling servants. It's called "serving in humility," and supposedly a way to serve God, by serving his servants, well, at least his "greatest servants." The greatest leader is the greatest servant, so the way to serve God is by serving the top leadership. Humbly. But what's a servant to do? You can only eat three meals a day, maybe four if you have a very busy schedule "ministering" to God's people. How many pairs of shoes need shining? How many cars need washing? How many shirts need ironing? Well, there's always calligraphy, and fruit baskets, and other tributes of love to... "God," via His VIP's. Now I don't think Jesus would want his brothers and sisters wasting time on foot massages and floral arrangements for his HQ. Okay, he got his feet washed, but that was a little different than being God's shoe-shine boy/girl at HQ these days, isn't it? Yeah, what I'm leading up to is this. Call all this "blessing" stuff what you will, the "sweet savor" of this kind of sacrifice probably stinks to high heaven of "religion," and not just that, but of aristocracy. Way leaders want to live like aristocrats. Didn't VP set the example there? His royal bus. His royal arrivals. His royal treatment. Yeah, kissin' that royal foot was a full-time job for dozens of douloses! In Hollywood, stars love to have their asses polished and kissed by staff, but its a well-paid staff by most accounts. Put religion in the mix, and somehow people are ready at the drop of a hat to confuse loving service with kissing foot, and they don't even want money for it! Wow! And of course, the TWI leadership is only too happy to add to THAT confusion. Can we blame them? ;)--> Hey Way Corps! Hey staff! Let's hear a big MMMMMMWaaahhhhhh for your leadership! Hmm? Oh, man, that IS gross. Better wash up, people.

Well, I always figured, with so much great potential, he'd be rolling in dough some day. Yes, thanks to TWI, his more than abundant life has become a powerful witness - to those of us who have left. Probably close to 50 and still living that WOW lifestyle. Corps lifestyle? Same thing. Want butter or cream cheese with that?

Thanks for your replies & info. Sorry ex, I just know you'd be great company but... :)--> My options are somewhat limited since it will be part of a larger family get-together. I'd be more adventurous like 2nd James, except I won't have enough "self-structured" time to be real creative, and I have others to think about. Besides that, I want to relax. 2J, it sounds like a great deal with your friend's condo. Airline flights are more than that locally, but I'm subscribing to a lot of travel oriented e-bulletins that advertise specials & promos. Hopefully something will pan out. I've been to Travelzoo, mstar, but haven't followed it enough to know that. Thanks for the recommend! Song, thanks. Have you been to that GC resort? That's a place I've thought about too, in the future. Any other sites or sights to recommend, I appreciate 'em all. Thanks.
-
Anybody been to Cancun? I'm looking at all-inclusives for the Fall. Family oriented, not one of those Club Sodom places. Experiences and recommendations are welcome. What's your favorite on-line booking system? How's come? (Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, DiscountEddie, etc)

No I don't herbiejuan. Rings no bells. But I've forgotten more than some people will ever know about those years.
-
Hi John, You take care of yourself. If there's any justice, history will call you a hero. satori

I've heard the underwear joke but it's still funny. Weird how you forget that jokes can be clean and still funny, isn't it? Maybe it's the crowd I hang with.

Slavit was one of a kind. I kinda thought he was one of the 9th Corps thread denizens, but I guess not.

The political power angle is a good one, herbiejuan. A block of voters is real political currency. TWI followers were spread across the country, but the "religious right" has demonstrated that Christians are willing to mobilize, much to the horror of liberals everywhere. This would open a few doors for old Vic. He wouldn't have been above exploiting his "political capital," meaning us.
