  1. Shush?? Now why would I make a comment? Besides, he was way before my time.
  2. No Morgan. You can take it seriously. You can pay attention when the information does come out. You can take action when action is recommended. You can try to find that information before it hits the mass media, and before the public really wakes up, which may make all the difference. Cynical complacency is a dangerous frame of mind.
  3. I've been wondering myself. It may require having enough food and water supplies to stay indoors (away from the public) for a sufficient period. Surgical masks were popular during the SARS epidemic, but the virus is too small to be stopped by such a mask. One report, and I don't know if it's credible, says that Tamiflu is not effective against it. Relenza's effectiveness has not yet been reported, one way or the other.
  4. Mortality rate is not 1 in 30, so far. It's closer to 1 in 2. China seems to be the source. As with SARS, China seems to be less than forthcoming about H5N1, and that may be a big problem.
  5. Flu is a resperatory disease. (Stomach flu ain't flu.) Vectors are not like hurricane "cones," which predict the possible path of a storm. Vectors are the possible channels of infection. Birds are vectors of bird flu. Other people are vectors. (So there are multiple vectors for H5N1, but I can't edit the title.) As illustrated below it has appeared in birds in Turkey and Romania, and lots of other spots. A parrot has recently died, in quarantine fortunately, in Great Britain. It is from S. America, but was found among other birds from Taiwan, bound for pet stores. A parrot is a black-market, "exotic" bird. Un-regulated. Where did the dead parrot get the disease? H5N1 has appeared in Taiwan. Not in a bird, but a boy. And in his father, who is now dead. That means it IS now crossing over to humans. If or when this finally breaks out, one CIA estimate (it is a security issue, isn't it?) is 2 billion infections worldwide, or 1 in 3. The mortality rate was not predicted. Suppose it's one in 30? That would be 200,000,000 dead. Color coded circles for wild bird H5N1: May = Blue June = Orange July = Yellow August 15 - Green August 31 = Red September = Purple Red squares are unconfirmed bird deaths -- I'm not boring you, am I?
  6. If Mr. Floatie wants to run things somewhere, there's a certain ministry that hasn't had his kind of charisma since Craig left.
  7. You may as well say the same thing to Donna. There's nobody home answering to that description.
  8. Saskatchewan just reported in. False alarm.
  9. Belle, they're imposters, probably WayGB! The real rascal and family are in Saskatchewan. Get out of the house now!

    Caption This!

"Watch cat," my foot. Take whatever you want, and her jewelry is in the closet. Just don't shoot!
  11. Maybe it's the small print lost in the cool, blue field, but this new board seems expansive and open. The old place seemed more familiar, a little warmer somehow. I like the new format and its features, but it's different, a little less personal, a bit less engaging. Maybe the edit thing is part of that. It was as if GS belonged to us. Now we, through our posts, in a way belong to Greasespot. The shift is not insignificant, and there will be corresponding if unpredictable changes in the "community." I regret the reiki thing, Taoiseach. It was probably inevitable, on this board, but just the same...
  12. Do smilies have feelings? Just look at them and then tell me they don't. Now I've insulted them.

    Goodbye Greasespot

Yeah, me too. Pray for strength, Steve!

    Lesbianism

Really? The "money back" remark wasn't personal? What you mean Allen is that you'd rather snipe, cut and run. As for reaping what one sows, you'd better hope that isn't the case.

    Lifeboats

If we get hit by the influenza pandemic this year, we will have a limited amount of Tamiflu and Relenza to treat it. Who gets it? The weak, young and elderly, most likely to perish? Or the ones we need to keep society going - first responders, medical, police/fire, leaders... It's not just a hypothetical question any more, is it?

    Lesbianism

Allen you may have misunderstood. I think they meant they felt remorseful and dirty after speaking to you. Yous is a good example of TWI's predilection for "spiritual" voyeurism. You weren't helping anybody. You were peeping. You're a peeper. That accounts for the fascination. (Martindale's too. Wierwille's too.)

    Lesbianism

I saw What the Bleep. I think a lot of it was New Age cliche, disguised as science. There may be some small basis in fact for the brain "re-wiring" itself, but I think it was grossly overstated. Since Wierwille always had one foot in the New Age movement (think "red drapes"), it doesn't surprise me that some of us would find WTB reassuring.
  18. It does block cookies, but it hasn't caused a problem before. I am seeing the graphics again today. No new changes were made on my side. I did add GS to trusted sites in ZoneAlarm yesterday, but it didn't help. Works again, for now.

    Goodbye Greasespot

I'm afraid to think of what Father Cameron might have in mind for the boys on the playground. And since the new pope banned alternative lifestyles, didn't sister Angelina move to Canada to become a lumberjack? Hey, I am not a bully ya little twirp. But seriously, don't these declarations provoke the least bit of contempt in even the most compassionate-minded among us? Apparently not. But they should. Woe is me, I cannot bear to post another day among this evil fold, this wicked generation, and I go alas to a better place, where seldom the herd hears discouraging words..." What happened to "bless them that persecute you?" If you can't take Greasespot, you should be in protective custody. We're just teddy bears. Ask the x-JW's to explain that (if you have an hour and need the sleep).
  20. If 8 hours is good, wouldn't 12 be even better? And 24 would be exceedingly appropriate. I could live with 24, though 48 would be twice as good, but 24 might just work. I'll compromise. How about 24? If the post is important to the thread it can be captured and saved in quotations.

    Goodbye Greasespot

Well, I was about to say, "Say hi to Steve! and what's-er-name," but in honor of Ramadan, I gave myself the 30 lashes, give Allah the glory!
  22. Reduced to quoting myself now. Emphasis on "seems." By the way. I don't like these smileys. Never did, really, but these are really too cute by half. Yucko. But here I am, reduced to smileys. Another evil side-effect of no ability to edit a recent post - though I can't explain how exactly.
  23. Nay, not six, nor sixty-six, nor six hundred sixty-six (although that number has a ring to it). Til archived. That is my plea. Who can get a good night's sleep on 6 hours? Wierwille supposedly did, but I happen to know he was a vampire, and he slept in his coffin. They're very comfortable, and the trapped Drambuie fumes induced a profound and restful slumber. Wierwille would have gone along with 6 hours. Are you some kind of Wierwillite now? We'll be watching you carefully from now on. Was it syntax? I thought it was spelling. I do know what it does to you. Tragic, really. Suppose that your six hours had past. Your name would be in the prayer forum right now. "Please lift laleo..." PS - Please note I have captured your post, and you can't edit it. Nyah, nyah, nyahhhhhh! To those stymied by the edit feature, the quote feature is a fearsome weapon.
