Man sets blaze while trying to kill pesky bees MOBILE, Ala. (AP) --just wanted to kill the bees swarming around his utility shed. When , 26, walked away from the gasoline-soaked towels he was using, he heard a "whoosh" and turned around to see the shed in flames that spread to his rented home and wound up causing some $80,000 in damage. Thieves ripped an 8-foot plaster statue of Jesus Christ from a wooden cross at a Detroit, Michigan, church. 1 of 2 The Rev. Barry Randolph said Wednesday that the statue at the Church of the Messiah is green and looks like copper, one of several metals coveted by thieves because of soaring scrap prices. Thieves have damaged copper pipes and stolen aluminum gutters at the church over the past few months, said Donya Ray-Gregg, a member of the congregation, which over the years has dwindled from about 350 members to 50. It's unclear when the statue was snatched. A parishioner noticed it missing Monday from its perch on the side of the church, 10 feet above the ground. A small piece of plaster was found nearby. The church has made a public plea for help. "It is so crazy," Randolph said. "It's been there for so long and was a symbol of hope to a lot of people in this neighborhood." Police were investigating, but department spokesman James Tate said it was doubtful thieves had mistaken the plaster statue for copper. "People who steal copper know what copper is and what it feels like," Tate said. "There is no way they would think a plaster statue is some type of metal."

I hear that girlfriend! I worked at Borders Books and Music for around five years in Inventory Processing,they kept cutting our hours for economic reasons and we the Inventory Processing Team ending up picking up all the slack of the allready slackers their(there is always slackers in work) I worked m-f 6-3 making around 10 bucks an hr(this is just stock clerk work ,unloading trucks,putting books, music away fun job and the team we busted our butt especially at christmas time we even worked over nights. I have a grandson I watch who is autistic and my daughter is a single parent who lives with me,I watched the boy when she works. I told my job and they worked with me and we're very supportive UNTIL we got a new mgr. who was just mean and didn't care about his employees. Didn't care if they had enough hours or if they could not work they hours they gave,lots of people left Borders and it was not fun anymore like it once was,and because of such greed to make plan. I quit.(Last week I heard the mean mgr got fired(what goes around comes around yep...that bites OUCH)
