    AGE GAUGE

Ex70's and Outandabout, Have you noticed that, at our age, sitting in chairs and getting out of them is much more about arms than it is about legs? :D--> My brother pointed out that it's a lot noisier than it used to be, too! :D--> George
  3. I remember Dawn, too. She helped host a Witnessing and Undershepherding class I took in Peoria in late '78 or early '79. (I know that, because it's between the times I took the Foundational and Advanced Classes.) I saw her at a few limb functions. (I was in Champaign at the time). George
  4. Indeed. I've enjoyed all the various Green Lantern manifestations, though Hal Jordan was the one I grew up with. It would appear that DC is bringing him back as Green Lantern again (after destroying all time, space, and dimension as Parallax and then redeeming himself as the Spectre :)-->). George
  5. 20-0! This was also Wisconsin's first defeat at home in over two years. George
  6. Two car attached garage with enough room to park one car (my wife's :P-->). Accessible from the house via the kitchen. My 1996 Impala (driveable) and 1967 Chevelle (wrecked) reside on the driveway. George
  7. I also use "Just for Men" on my moustache. Not enough grey elsewhere (yet!) to worry about. I took one puff on a cigarette when I was 7. It's all the smoking I've ever done! I've written over twenty marches. Most have had one performance; some have had two. I've also written a polka. I'm in the process of writng a waltz to commemorate my mother-in-law, who died last summer. George
  8. Martindale's "de-Wierwillization" of TWI reminded me of Khruschev's "de-Stalinization" of the USSR, without the vilification. He obviously couldn't get away with dissing VPW, so he just changed all the names of everything that Vic did. He obviously intended to "make" the ministry "his own"! :D--> I was gone before Rosie took over. How is the "de-Martindalization" progressing? ;)--> George
  9. Of course, if he didn't have something different to offer, he couldn't have competed with the big churches. On the other hand, going out of one's way to "stake new ground" in biblical research can be devastating. I saw this to be especially true during LCM's reign. (Can't be the MOG unless I come up with some new stuff. Let's see ... here's a good one: I'll teach that the only reason for a space program is military dominance! No, wait ... here's a better one: homosexuality isn't just evil, it's the FOUNDATIONAL evil! Yeah ... that's the ticket!) --> Sheesh! :D--> George
  10. Have a backup plan. My grandson's name was Julia until he was born! :D--> George
  11. 19-0! Lousy shooting from the court, but the Illini hit a LOT of free throws in their overtime victory over Iowa. George :)-->
  12. All this talk of codes reminds me of a cute sign I saw on a wall in the most recent "NCIS" episode: There are 10 types of people in the world Those that understand binary, and those that don't. :D--> George
  13. More precisely, Confirmation is the sacrament. One chooses a confirmation name (from a cononized saint)as part of the rite. George
  14. I was never good at Morse Code, though several years ago I set local records for semaphore recognition. (Couldn't do it today, though.) George
  15. I have a few pages of original comic book art, including a Buscema "Conan" page. George
  16. I was hit by a car while visiting relatives in Italy when I was 12. Fortunately, italian cars are small. :)--> It bounced me about four feet, but I landed on my feet, unhurt. I cry a lot. (In fact, I'm tearing up just from the embarrassment of posting this.) Final episodes of favorite TV shows get me. I can't sing "The Family of God" without choking up at the line "I'm not worthy to be here, but praise God I belong!" Weddings get me. I cried through most of mine. (My wife has been crying ever since. :D-->) I used to think it was impressive to get a woman's bra off with ONE hand, but Paw has me beat. "Look, NO HANDS!" My confirmation name is John (after St. John Bosco). My father's confirmation name was Peter. His WHOLE name was George Quirico Mani Peter Maximillian John von Jurascheck St. George. George Michael John St. George
  17. Ma-na-ma-NA Doot DOO do do Ma-na-ma-NA Doot DOO do do Ma-na-ma-NA Doot DOO do doo, do DOO do, do DOO do, do do do do do doot doot do do DOOT! I haven't heard that song in almost twenty years. And it was a Muppet tune then (slightly different version). Thanks, MStar! :)--> George
  18. P.S. You might try the By State and Friend Tracker threads. ;)--> George
  19. Not me personally, but I had some buds up there. I'm sure you knew George and Cindy B. And Erin W. (now Erin L.) coordinated a WOW family in Lewiston. George
  20. Hey, CoolChef! In case you haven't been "lurking" on the site for a while before registering, here's what you can expect: Though virtually everybody here has been involved in The Way at one time or another, there is as wide a diversity of views here as in the world at large. For example, there are those who believe PFAL was sent by God; others believe it was all a money-making scam. Some believe that the Bible is the Word of God; some say there IS no God! If you have passionate views on a subject, feel free to experss them (tastefully, of course). But don't be surprised if someone else holds the opposite views just as passionately! Something appealing, something appalling. Something for everyone at GreaseSpot Cafe! Enjoy the ride. George :)-->
  21. I don't remember this being touted in The Way, though it is considered improper manners to congratulate an engaged woman, becuase it implies she "finally caught a man." (The man could be congratulated, though!) One is to express "best wishes" (or something of that nature) to the woman, although that probably slams against "Wayspeak," as well! :D-->
  22. I had the organist play John P. Sousa's "American Wedding March" at my wedding. (Probably the only time the song has been performed in over 75 years!)
  23. The three dogs I've had in Texas I've named after comic-book characters: Ambush Bug, Zook, and Snapper. I REALLY love my grandson! George
  24. The Fighting Illini (or, as I prefer to call them, the Screaming Illeenee) have set a team record by winning their first eighteen games! They've been ranked #1 in the country now for five weeks, having beaten their opponents by an average of about twenty points. Interestingly, they've squeaked by some of their poorer opponents but crushed other top-twenty teams, including previous #1 Wake Forest. My only fear is that they'll go unbeaten into the NCAA tournament, only to be beaten in the first round by Austin Peay (or the equivalent)! Go Illini! Go Chief! George
  25. Three kids in twenty-two months is not hard to believe if you don't start counting days until the first one is born, though apparently Bramble was including the nine months of her first pregnancy. If you count my mom's first pregnancy, it actually took a little over five years to produce the five of us. George
