  1. I guess I missed all that a year ago, Belle. From the thread you linked, it seems that LTS has gotten a lot bolder in its stance on PFAL. As far as the copyright business is concerned, I can see how LTS might be able to sell PFAL outside the States, but it still should be illegal in the US. And yes, Jim, the copyright was on the tapes of PFAL. George
  2. When I was in graduate school, I was a teaching assistant for one of the freshman chemistry classes. At the end of every semester, I would speak with the instructor about individual grades, and if someone was just below a cut-off, I would usually give a good reason to move the person up. And the instructor would do so. One semester, I had a student with a 69.0 average. The cut-off for a C was 70. The instructor was surprised that I didn't try to move this student up, but I had good reasons: the pupil did none of the homework, rarely showed up for class, and -- obviously -- didn't study. This person had expressed a desire to be a science teacher. Hopefully, I was able to change that. George
  3. Indeed. Does "Rural Free Delivery" just mean the same thing as "postman brings mail to your home"? (As opposed to, I imagine, going to the post office to get it.) George
  4. Sorry, Trefor. No bells ringing here. :(--> George
  5. No doo-wop fans out there? --> Here's (almost) the rest of the song: When you're with me I'm sure you're always true When I'm away I wonder what you do If no one gets it by this evening, I'll try another song. George
  6. Interesting stuff. Thanks, Jim. George
  7. I didn't either, until I checked IMDB. The tune was quite recognizable, though. George
  8. I believe the Western was "The Stupendous Six" or "The Exquisite Eight" (or something in between). ;)--> And I KNOW it was Goober doing the impression. It just wasn't a James Cagney impression (as hiway admitted). George
  9. Almost simultaneously with seeing Belle's thread on an Internet transcription of PFAL, I received a FAX from a friend of mine in Florida who ordered a DVD set of PFAL from "The Belizean BRC." Interestingly, they list their address as P.O. Box 244, Dangriga, Belize, but also as P.O. Box 38405, Germantown, TN! I can't find anything about this group on the Internet, but they obviously do have DVD'd of PFAL for distribution. They even have "green cards"! A"minimum donation" of $150 is required for the tapes. It begs the question, Who actually has the copyright for PFAL? Did TWI let it lapse? George
  10. I wouldn't choose a lyric that contained the title, now would I? George
  11. Interesting, because this song does share some of the lyrics with my song, but the one I'm quoting is not "I Don't Know Why I Love You" (by anyone). Here are some lyrics from another verse of the song: "I told my friends That we would never part They often said That you would break my heart" George
  12. Well, the production wasn't ALL bad... Murphy looked terrific in her outfit, especially when red lights made most of it seem to disappear... :o--> George
  13. Most songs you'll get from we will be '50's and 60's (and maybe early 70's) hits, with an occasional C&W song to keep you off guard. George
  14. Modified hint: the song is more than 45 years old (but less than 50). George
  15. On the other hand, "Return to Mayberry" was probably the best "reunion" movie I've seen. Mr. Darling: Hey, Sherriff! Haven't seen you in a while. Andy: I've been out of town for 20 years. Darling: I reckon that might partly explain it... Great stuff!! George
  16. No. It's possible der Bingle might have done a version of this song, but it's not the one I'm thinking of. Let's add the bass line: Din din din da din din da didididin, dididin dididin dininininininina Don't know why I love you like I do (didin din da) Don't know why I do (dadin) Don't know why I love you; don't know why I care. George
  17. Incorrect, but at least you're trying! Here's another hint: the song is more than 35 years old. George
  18. Me, too! And it's his 1960's voice, not the deeper 1970's voice. :)--> George
  19. Back when they were the rage, I particularly liked to play "Berzerk" and "Popeye." I was pretty good at "Missile Command," as well. George
  20. I don't know. I saw it on the CNN website. George
  21. I felt that way when "Mike" left "My Three Sons." :(--> George
