  1. She meant, of course, Buddy Holly. But this isn't "Name that Tune." Is there actually a movie quote in the last few posts that I'm supposed to be figuring out? George
  2. Try this one: Kisses I could almost taste, in the night. George
  3. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure A.F. was a swell guy, and probably at one time a fine conductor. But even in the '70's he was hard to watch. I was at MIT in 1975, and our band was part of a large (22 bands, I think) bicentennial extravaganza on the Esplanade. AF "conducted" all the bands together in, yes, "The Stars and Stripes Forever." I believe the last band finished about 20 seconds after the first. --> George P.S. Sorry for the derail!
  4. I used to sign letters with a halo (as did my father before me). Naturally, I got all sorts of crap from my TC and BC, because halos were, of course, heathen symbols. My response was that when LCM got rid of his Christmas tree, I'd get rid of the halo. The answer didn't sit well with them, but what could they do? :D--> George
  5. There was my correct address and phone number amongst a myriad of other George St. Georges (I think there are seven of us in the US -- TWO in Texas!) I prefer http://www.intelius.com, because it tells you when the info was last updated, though they don't give away addresses or phone numbers for free. On the other hand, 24-hour searching costs $20, which is reasonable, AND you can do reverse searches (all occupants of a given address), which helps if someone has changed her name. George
  6. That happened to me once. I don't expect it to happen to me again. How about you, Oak? George
  7. Happy, happy birthday from all of us to you! Happy, happy birthday, may all your prayers come true! May you have happy birthdays, ALL YOUR WHOLE LIFE THROUGH! Happy, happy birthday, is our true wish for you!* George --> * And it IS God in Christ in you!
  8. Yeah! How'd you like five acrossed your lips? George
  9. Sounds like "House of the Rising Sun" (which, I've learned recently, can be sung to the tune of "Amazing Grace" or "Joy to the World") by the Animals. I'll wait for confirmation, though. George
  10. I only needed three notes to recognize this one! It's the big one, Elizabeth! I'm coming to join you! George
  11. FAR too recent for me. Cool song, though. :)--> George
  12. Three of my stepchildren came to visit us yesterday (the other was working). I thoroughly exhausted myself playing with my grandson. Best Father's Day I've had!! George P.S. Kit: great post!
  13. Maybe it WAS Arthur Fiedler. Did you ever SEE Arthur Fiedler conduct? It was impossible to follow him! I think the percussion of the Boston Pops did all the work while AF swatted at flies! :D--> George
  14. You would think a song about Tarzan and Superman would be right up my alley, but I haven't the foggiest idea what this song is. George
  15. Well, two days without a guess. I think we need another clue, Belle. George
  16. Maybe she meant "Roller Boogie." Linda Blair was really looking cute back then. Of course, Raquel Welch in "Kansas City Bombers" was fine, too! George
  17. No.. Joey Levine's name is on the music. I just don't know if he was in Reunion. You're up, Belle. George
  18. Right, though I think of it as being by Reunion. Was Joey Levine the lead singer? George
  19. I wonder if concerns about plagiarism would keep TWI from pushing a copyright suit. Can you honestly say that PFAL is TWI's, when most of it came from other people? George
  20. "Once upon a Time in America"? George
  21. Try this one (it's a lot more recent): B.B. Bumble and the Stingers, Mott the Hoople, Ray Charles Singers George
  22. It was "I Wonder Why" by Dion and the Belmonts. I think that this is the epitome of doo-wop, surpassing "Blue Moon," "Get a Job," and even "Mr. Bass Man." I Wonder Why George
