  1. And Eva wan't exactly young then, either! I think Eddie was perfect for the part, though. He was able to carry off exasperation with that great baritone voice. (Leeeesa! Ehhhhb!! Mr. Haney!!) I heard that Carroll O'Connor was also up for the part. I don't think it would have worked as well. (Aww geeze, Liser!) George
  2. Lindyhopper is right about the group forming during their WOW year. It was in Chicago around 1980. (I was still in Illinois at the time.) I thought that they all went Corps, staying together through various assignments so they could continue to perform. On the other hand, I haven't heard anything about them for 25 years. George
  3. It looks "campy." I hope I'm right. George
  4. Yes. It wasn't until I saw that he was 99 that I realized he must have been in his 60's during Green Acres! That was fairly common for supporting characters, but not for leading men. George
  5. As I recall, she was pretty much in charge of Way Productions for a long time. With the possible exception of the Corps, WP was TWI's biggest operation. When Don W. stepped down, it probably made sense to someone to replace him with another bureaucrat. --> I can't speculate on the possibility of her having "the goods" on other BOT members; but I can't rule it out, either. George
  6. This brings up an interesting point: if there had been better supervision, would the teachers have agreed to the rock-collecting as punishment? Without some more details, I'm not sure how I would feel about it. How insubordinate was the child? (Blew off a couple assignments, refused to do any schoolwork, or something in between?) How long was the punishment supposed to last? George
  7. I understand that she was LEADING for a while, but had to slow down when she was very low on fuel. She just needs a nice, practical, fuel-efficient car! George

(Sikh? Sheesh!!) Fun, but ridiculous! :D--> George
  9. I've always been a "DC-zombie"; but I never miss a chance to see a good Marvel movie, either. The ever-lovin' Thing was always one of my favorite Marvel characters, so I'm looking forward to it. George
  10. Raf is correct. He's obviously well-versed in Shadoe Stevens's movies! George
  11. So are mine, of course. I kind of hope most people see some tongue in cheek here. When I read your post "I kind of thought, "Traxx," starring Shadoe Stevens? Sheesh! Was that even in theaters? For what, a week in 1987? But okay." I inferred that you were thinking "Traxx" BEFORE Sharon gave the answer. Go rent it. If you don't like it, I'll send you $2 (or whatever it costs to rent a movie these days). (This is to Raf, though I feel relatively certain that anyone watching it will enjoy it.) George
  12. Shadoe Stevens was the announcer for Hollywood Squares for many years, so his voice would be more recognizable than his face. He did actually sit in a square for a while, as well. Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie. Raf, however, found it somewhat galling, I think. I admit that I told him to "get over it." :o--> In retrospect, that may have been presumptious of me, because I haven't seen themovie "through his eyes." Just because MY experience with "Traxx" was a blessing, it does not mean that everyone's experience with "Traxx" was, as well. I apologize if I have offended anyone here with my personal views of the movie. George
  13. Sudo, you probaly have to live in the Midwest to remember Hamm's beer. Of course, with Hamm's commercials appearing every inning of Cubs games, it's hard to forget "From the land of sky blue wa-a-ters..." even after thirty years. Most of the commercials had a guy sketching the bear on a cocktail napkin, the sketch becoming a live cartoon involving the cap from a a Hamm's bottle. George ChattyKathy, you're right. this is a fun thread, though i doubt I'll pick up the 34 pages I've missed!

    TraxxSpot

Several recent posts in "Name That Flick" show that the movie "Traxx", starring Shadoe Stevens, has had a profound effect on people's lives. In my case, it provided laughter and an uplifting message at a time in my life when I needed them. For Raf, even the name "Traxx" gets him to blaspheme. ("Traxx. Sweet Jesus.") Raf also refuses to believe that even five people have been blessed by "Traxx." So, I have two questions: what impact did "Traxx" have on your life, and am I wrong to be blessed, even though Raf has obviously suffered great trauma by "Traxx"? George
  15. "Traxx"? Just kidding. I have no idea. It sounds like a post-"Dances with Wolves" Woody Allen flick, but I haven't seen any of them. George
  16. I guess because I've seen you post so much in "Name that Flick" I didn't realize that your posts elsewhere were being ignored. (I've even noticed that your avatar picture changes routinely. I'm a little disappointed that the old trick of copying the picture and opening it in Paint or Photo Editor doesn't work anymore. The pictures actually ARE that small, now. Maybe you could post them all in "Every Picture...") When I post, I like to see responses, especially because I'm sure that I have the definitive answer to everything. But I started a thread comparing TWI to Alias and except for one response from Belle (bless her heart, I think she's going after Excathedra's record), it disappeared into oblivion. There WERE a lot of views, just no responses. (Maybe I DID have the definitive position, and there was nothing more to say!) If you have a thread that you think people are looking at but not responding to, you can respond yourself to "bump" it back to the top. One last thing: if you post in a thread where Mike and Steve! start going at each other, give it up. Your comments WILL be lost in the barrage! George Now, I expect a lot of response to my upcoming "Traxxspot" thread!
  17. How about another clue, then? ;)--> George
  18. Mell, Other than the AC syllabus, you're not likely to find a TWI "list" of devil spirits. Perhaps someone here will be diligent enough to copy one out on this thread. (I'm not that diligent! ;)-->) You COULD take out a concordance and go through the word "spirit" and find phrases like "spirit of whoredoms" and "lying spirit." This would take a LOT of time, though. George Welcome to Greasespot!
  19. Ladies, Ladies! I believe Signals was simply pointing out that Outofdafog didn't have to "welcome" Mick, because he (she?) has been around for two years already, and just hasn't posted much. Now, Mick, anything more? George
  20. Excie, A lot of us DIDN'T spend years in therapy after leaving TWI. I'm sorry about what happened to you, but I'm not ashamed it didn't happen to me. On the balance, my association with TWI was a positive thing. You're in my prayers. :)--> George
  21. That was quick. I bop over to the Prayer Room and figure maybe you're not up to this. (Apparently, "Traxx" has that effect on some people.) Okay, then, let's try "Cocktail." George
  22. Dude, let it GO! You obviously saw "Traxx." Did it somehow traumatize you? Was it the Boy Scouts tied to a car? Or the cough drop cookies? :D--> George P.S. Sharon, I'm standing by "Coyote Ugly" until you give the word.
  23. "Coyote Ugly"? George "Traxx" was better written than "Predator 2." "Predator 2" may have been funnier, but quite by accident.
