  1. No offense to Zshot, but I hope the women are happily married. Heck, he couldn't have married BOTH of them, anyway! George
  2. Apparently, Duke agrees with you. They went through UNC rather handily. (Sorry, Pirate. I couldn't resist.) ;)--> May I add, the Illini defeated Wisconsin again, and are now 25-0! (This is only the fourth-best start in Big Ten history. Of course, Indiana won it all back in '78-79 (I think).) George
  3. Interesting...At an Advanced Class at HQ (around '95), there was MASSIVE rain. lcm (presumably the same one) said that some people were feeling bad because the heavy rain meant they weren't believing; he then said, "Oh, yeah? What about Noah?" The point being that they were believing to be PREPARED for the rain. George
  4. Actually, I was hard-hearted because I wouldn't sell my house (which I owned free and clear, of course) to move closer to my TC (and 40 miles further from work). Of course, my TC wound up moving shortly thereafter -- to be closer to his work! --> George
  5. 24-0! A comeback win over a surprising Michigan team. Of course, that's the stuff champions are made of. George
  6. Emphasis on the MAYBE. And you forgot "Fork over the big bucks." George
  7. In my case, it was generally the ability to think logically. Interestingly, the "final straw" was my leading songs (FROM THE SONGBOOK) that others in the Twig didn't know. I was trying to add a little variety, but I was labeled "arrogant." George
  8. Are you a minister, a funeral director, a ghoul, or JUST REALLY OLD?? :D--> George
  9. I guess we're not talking about THE ICE CREAM BOWL anymore. If anyone finds "Bill" (I'm guessing this isn't Bill Hermsmeier, who was my first Branch Coordinator, and as I recall, WAS 9th Corps), please PT me. George
  10. Switchboard.com has six listings for Martin Erb and eleven for Joyce; unfortunately, none of them overlap. I remember the Erbs from my Advanced Class ('79) and an occasional ROA. Nice couple. George
  11. 23=0! On to Michigan. For Pirate and others with tarry heels, I have this link: Illinois vs. UNC George
  12. Not a major point, of course, but this confuses me. 150 mm is almost six inches, but you lost less than four. --> George (Not meant to imply that being compressed four inches is insignificant.)
  13. So, come on guys, tell me about the Ice Cream Bowl!!!! George
  14. 22-0! North Carolina, my eye! Mighigan State is tough at home, but the Illini took it to them. The only ranked team Illinois has left on its schedule is Wisconsin, whom they've already beaten once. You can't take anything for granted, of course, but Illinois has a good chance of fininshing at least the regular season undefeated. Then there's the conference tournament, and then the NCAA. Stay tuned. :)--> George
  15. I went to New York for Don and Linda's wedding, and I stayed at Don's mom's house. I was originally stationed in Don's room with him, but once the "hacksawing" began, I headed downstairs and found a couch. It was almost STILL too noisy! What was particularly disturbing was not so much the volume but rather the CADENCE of his snoring. He sounded like he was about to choke to death with every breath! :D--> I also have to agree with Tom. He had a great heart and was always there. Even when he reproved you, you knew he wasn't going to keep holding it over you. No "Corps Nazi" here! George
  16. I can't help you directly, but I have a couple of suggestions: Try www.switchboard.com (essentially a free US phone book) and www.intelius.com (a more advanced people search -- it costs some, but you can get a 24-hour pass for $19 and search anyone you want). Try posting in the Friend Tracker forum. More people will see your post there. Welcome to Grease Spot! :)--> George
  17. Do you guys (and gals) mind if I butt in here, for a bit? Don Brunelle was my branch leader during his (your) interim year. His premature departure was such a shame. I miss him. Do any of you have Brunelle stories to share (warts and all)? George
  18. Maybe Steve edited his original post, but I tried the link and found nothing objectionable, just adn address and phone number for Janet Myracle (along with some ads). Bob, what were you so mad about? --> George
  19. Can you name ANOTHER song by them, though?
  20. Here's another one about me: I've been a big fan of Vince Vance and the Valiants (featuring the beautiful Valiantettes, the vivacious vixens of rock and roll) for many years now. I proposed to my wife at a VVV concert on July 4 (Independence Day -- ironic, I think). Vince got me up on stage, and I sang "It's Now or Never" and then proposed. Because I would always invite all sorts of people to come to VVV concerts, Lucy was completely clueless, even though her parents; most of her brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces; several people from my job; a few from our Twig; and my brother FROM CHICAGO -- WITH HIS VIDEO CAMERA, were there! George
  21. I'm bumping this thread back up, because I like it! Hopefully, we'll get responses from some of the other Cafe denizens. George :)-->
  22. 21-0! A crushing defeat of Minnesota. On to Michigan State. George

    AGE GAUGE

Ex70's and Outandabout, Have you noticed that, at our age, sitting in chairs and getting out of them is much more about arms than it is about legs? :D--> My brother pointed out that it's a lot noisier than it used to be, too! :D--> George
  24. I remember Dawn, too. She helped host a Witnessing and Undershepherding class I took in Peoria in late '78 or early '79. (I know that, because it's between the times I took the Foundational and Advanced Classes.) I saw her at a few limb functions. (I was in Champaign at the time). George
