  1. Takes one to know one. You're up! George
  2. Yep. "Woodies" were quite popular in the early '60's. They were oldies even then. Jan and Dean (in "Surf City") sing about their '38 wagon and they call it a Woody, it's not very cherry, it's an oldie but a goodie! George (I expect a clip from Sudo any minute now!)
  3. Getting close. Whom does the piggy bank portray? George
  4. There were four (or maybe five -- it's been over forty years) lights in a linear array. They were usually horizontal, but I think the line could be rotated. Each light was as bright as a sun lamp -- maybe 500 W, so it's posible we had about 2000 W shining in our living room. I was joking, of course, about the ice cubes; but each of us really did squint for a while until our eyes adjusted. George
  5. Pirate, if you wish to give it to Raf, we can hold my puzzle "in abeyance." Of course, it would be easier just to solve my puzzle!! George
  6. Really? Was that the state of the art at that time? 8000 watts.. lessee. That's a BANK of EIGHTY one-hundred watt bulbs. I wonder how valid this claim is. I know the old film formats required a higher light level than modern equipment, but was this the norm? I don't know... My dad used to take home movies at Christmas, and he had to set up these big klieg lights. I think we needed to put ice cubes on our eyes after the filming was done. We WERE the only kids in Chicago with tans in January!! :D--> George
  7. I hope he didn't bring his ray gun! George
  8. Reminds me of a date I had years ago. I had just bought new eyeglasses, and I asked the young lady if she noticed anything different. She said, "Bigger muscles?" Not the answer we were looking for, but the judges will accept it! George
  9. Darn!! I didn't even get to use "How do you know you're God?" "Simple. When I pray to Him, I find I am talking to myself." You're up, Sharon. George
  10. And incidentally, the only football game that mattered to ME was Illinois's come-from-behind (down by 20 points midway through the third quarter) to beat Rutgers in overtime! Go Illini! GO CHIEF!!! George
  11. That's assuming the by-standers could get into the car. If the car was locked, was there some OTHER trick to opening the trunk? George
  12. Since I recognized the tune, I was able to glean enough from "Yahoo!" to learn what the movie was. I didn't see it (or its remake). I do remember a pictorial of the co-star in a gentleman's magazine about 20 years ago, though. She was quite fetching, though about 50 at the time. I could understand HH's attraction! George
  13. Try this. (It's not the most recognizable line from the film. That will come later, if necessary.) I was only trying to do what's expected me. I recall as a sign of normalcy in our circle to slaughter anything that moves. George
  14. Since I'm sure Pirate would confirm it ( ;)-->), I'll move on: George
  15. Actually, no. I don't think that there's even a tape recording anywhere. Well, now that I think of it, the photographer at last year's "Thanks God I'm not a Pig" roast took a couple of short video clips while we were playing. If you think you can use that, I'll try to e-mail it. George (This was in answer to Sudo's question on the previous page. Apparently, there were about four psts in the thirty seconds it took me to type this!)
  16. I'm sure Raf is just fooling around, but I'm also sure "Pale Rider" is the movie. George
  17. I bet the vocalist in the second "Saints" version was none other than Antoine Domino. Sure glad they found him! George
  18. Pirate IS correct, of course. I was sort of on a "Julie Andrews" roll. George
  19. I'm glad. For a second, I thought it might be "Reds"! Try this one (pretty easy): George
  20. I play saxophone and clarinet in a "traditional" jazz band ('20's and '30's stuff, mostly). We have nice versions of "So Rare" and "Stranger on the Shore." (No one in our band can play the latter without thinking, "She was strange in the water, but she was...") George
  21. It appears we have "Ginger vs. Mary Ann" for a new generation! George
  22. Also, when you log in and there's a new private message, there will be a little tab at the top where it says Go, New, Find, etc. that says "New PM!" You can just click it. This also works if someone has sent you a new response on an old privet thread, as well. George
