Good point. Sumimasen! (Oops, did it again!) George

I just posted some of my old Halloween costumes in the Pictures forum ("DC Superheroes"). Incidentally, I still have all the costumes. You never know when I may have to spring into action! George

Okay, tell me what movie the epithet "son of a motherless goat" comes from! George

Two more days. Try again? George

"Titans," not "tetons." Bill Maher also starred in this film. (His career probably survived because no one saw this!) George

I don't know if this counts as a "tune," but it got a lot of airplay in the 70's: Chris Schenkel, don't sing nothin' George

I can't edit the post (after two hours, or whatever); but replace the picture of the nun with this It's a better sound fit. A clue: this is probably the only movie where two titans of the industry, Shannon Tweed and Adrienne Barbeau, appear together. George

A little before your time, WW? Sounds like "Bony Maroni" by Little Richard. George

Karateka, check out the "Why Did You Leave?" thread. (Note that not every poster actually voted, so you might like to read the responses, as well.) George

Local leadership kept pushing me to apply. I have no idea why!! George

Happy Birthday to our Southern Belle
GeorgeStGeorge replied to jardinero's topic in Birthdays and Anniversaries
Yes, Belle, you've been a welcome addition. Glad to have you on board. I hope it's been a wonderful birthday. George P.S. We miss you on the "Name That..." threads! -
The north side of Chicago is more "yuppie," and the south side is more "blue-collar," but it doesn't really translate to the teams. The Cubs and Sox are both pretty "proletariat." George

If you want to call her, CALL HER! If she doesn't want to hear from you, you'll find out soon enough; and if she does, you may regain a friendship otherwise lost. George

Excie, PLEASE find another avatar! George Of course, when you do, it will change the one here, so no one will know what I meant.

I've never been into Norah Jones, either. Chac'un a son gout. Or, should I say, De gustibus non est disputandum. As for Sudo's music clip, I was thinking to myself, "It's that weird Tim Burton movie." (Sorry, that's redundant.) My wife walked by and said, "Nightmare before Christmas." Not a favorite of hers, either. George

Raf is kidding, Tom. Actually, this movie probably had as many viewers as "Traxx." It was also a spoof of adventure movies, as "Traxx" was. If you can put it all together, feel free to google it to see if you were right. I put a lot of effort into this one! George

Just because this one is so bizarre, I'll try another one: Good luck. George

I was just reminded of a "Night Court" episode where "Bull" wins a toupee. He chooses the "Shatner 5000" (or something); and the women in the show all of a sudden think he's hot! George

After two days, I feel obliged to ask for another clue. George

I figured one easy song deserved another. Now THIS one I don't know. (Maybe Sudo does!) George

Hmm. Let's see what happens with upsetake mushrooms. George Yep. Changed that, too!!

I left because they threw me out (not one of the choices, interestingly); but the "root cause" was invasion of privacy, so that's how I voted. I also noticed the attitude that Mercedes Benz described. I remember my BC telling me at the last ROA that we weren't witnessing to "nerds" anymore. (By which he meant, I assume, those of less health, wealth, and worldly standing than us. Being a Ph.D. chemist ,I don't think he meant "nerds" in the classic sense.) George

Jokers to the right Here I am "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel. George I'm a tiger when I want love; I'm a snake if we disagree.

Sudo, If you check through this thread (and Name that Flick), you'll find that some players "give up" and google the answer. That's fine, as long as they don't post their results. Some will admit to googling but not give away the answer. The "Nostalgia Thread" wouldn't be much fun if everybody googled answers, either. George

It will be great to have you back. For future reference (and for any other lurkers who want to play), here's how I post clues. (There may be variations that work as well.) I use Yahoo.com to find images. I expect that other search engines work the same way. (Note that it will help to keep two windows open, one for finding the images and the other here at Greasespot.) In the search category at the top of the page ("Web" is probably the default), click "Images." Then, type in the word or phrase you wish to find pictures for. Remember to use quotes or parentheses for phrases. Suppose you type in "fokkers." You will get a series of thumbnails with titles and picture size (in pixels). I try to shoot for pictures on the order of 400X400 pixels so that the pics aren't too tiny or too large, but this isn't as important as finding the picture you want. There will be all sorts of pictures available. In this case, there will even be several from the movie, "Meet the Fokkers." I chose a nice picture of Fokkers flying in formation. Click on the thumbnail. This will bring you to a split screen: the thumbnail will appear on top, and the web page that actually contains the picture will be below. (Sometimes you will get a message indicating that the picture is no longer available. Go back and try another.) Right-click the thumbnail at the top, and then click "Properties." Select the "Address (URL)." In this case, it's http://www.htc.net/~dermody/images/fokkers.jpg. Copy it (I use ctrl-C), and return to the Greasespot posting window. Click the icon at the top of the window that looks like a picture of a tree. It will open up an "Explorere User Prompt." Paste the URL into the line (I use ctrl-V) and clicK "OK." You will only see the URL with some annotation in the window, but you can click "Preview Post" to make sure the picture is there. In this case, you get this picture: Just repeat this for all the pictures you need for your puzzle. (It sounds time-consuming, but it's not, once you get the hang of it.) Two tips: After you add a picture, hit "Enter" to move the cursor to the next line. Remember to open the "tree" icon, or you'll just wind up pasting the URL (not the actual picture) in your post. Now... somebody else post a puzzle. I've done a bunch already. George
