  1. "I WILL find you!" "Might I inquire after the situation sir?" "The situation is that his guns are bigger than mine and he has more of them. We keep our heads down while his troops dig 30 yards of trench a day. When those trenches are 200 yards from the fort and within range, he'll bring in his 15-inch mortars, lob explosive rounds over our walls, and pound us to dust." "Death and honor are thought to be the same, but today I have learned that sometimes they are not." "There is a war on. How is it you are heading west?" "Well, we face to the north and, real subtle like, turn left." George
  2. "The Battle." At the Battle of Maxia, Picard had defeated a Ferengi ship when commanding the Stargazer, by using what would be called "the Picard Maneuver." (Choice C in my previous post.) The Stargazer sustained heavy damage and had to be abandoned. Present time: Damon Boch brings a repaired Stargazer as a gift to Picard. He uses a mind-control device to convince Picard (the source of his headaches) to board the Stargazer and to attack the Enterprise. Data devises a counter-measure to the Picard Maneuver, saving the ship and bringing Picard out of his delusion. Damon Boch is relieved of duty by his first officer, since his revenge scheme was considered "unprofitable." This was back when Ferengi were still considered a threat. George

  10. Not "Becker." "Truth is not found in science, or on some unseen plane, but by looking into your own heart." "For a brief time it looked as if they might actually make a difference in this cold, cruel world. They acquired an intern who believed in their cause. And a powerful, beautiful nemesis... who became an ally. But the world is not kind to idealists... and those who fight the Good Fight don't always win." "Who do we want to win the Academy Awards this year?" "I don't care. All I care about is, Buffalo does not win the Superbowl. As long as I live, Buffalo does not win the Superbowl!" "Life is like a box of chocolates. Cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint craft that you mindlessly wolf down and there's nothing else left to eat. Sure... once in a while there's a peanut buttercup or an English toffee.. but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. They end up nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is an empty box with useless brown paper wrappers." George

  14. I'll still give someone else a chance to answer, but this episode is the first time we hear of "The Picard Maneuver." Is the Picard Maneuver: a.) pulling your jersey down every time you stand up; b.) surrendering to a hopelessly overmatched adversary in order to open communications; or c.) going to warp, coming out right next to an enemy ship (inside their shields), and opening fire? George
  15. It's not a light bulb; it's a vacuum tube. I'm not getting the puzzle yet, though. George
