  1. As soon as you mentioned the calypso, I didn't even have to open the link. Great scene! It's funny...I had known about the star Betelgeuse since I was a kid, but I didn't know it was pronounced "Beetlejuice" until I told my boss about the movie. George
  2. I presume that that means it's not a cartoon. It must be a comedy of some sort. This isn't the one where Richard Benjamin and gorgeous twins were space garbagemen, is it? George

    Texas BBQ

I've taken the liberty of plagiarizing myself from the Party at Chas's thread... It's a shame Chas's party's delayed. But you needn't all be dismayed. Come down to Ex10's For a welcome that's Texan. You'll surely be glad that you stayed! George
  4. It's a shame Chas's party's delayed. But you needn't all be dismayed. Come down to Ex10's For a welcome that's Texan. You'll surely be glad that you stayed! (Details in the Texas BBQ thread.) George
  5. In my early days at "the Spot," I was more active in the Doctrinal and About the Way threads, and I was blessed by the intelligent discussions of many of the posters like WordWolf, Raf, The Evan, Belle, the !s, Research Geek, socks, Catcup, LindaZ, excathedra, and others. And, of course Year2027: his non-linear thinking was always a bit abstract for me, but his big heart always comes through clearly. It seems, though, that all the same discussions that we had return over and over again. This isn't a bad thing. Newcomers don't realize that there have been dozens of "say something nice about PFAL" or "do you believe in the trinity" threads, and their opinions and thoughts on the subjects are as valid as those that have gone before. I just don't have much new to add there. I spend more time now in the "game" threads, where I've gotten to know Sudo and Suda and Doojable and Bluzeman and Chatty Kathy and hiway29 and Tom Strange and so many others who share their individual approaches. And there's the Prayer Room. Krysalis and Dmiller and Templelady and Acts2 and A la Prochaine and Free at Last and Kit Sober are always in there fighting for others, even when there own needs are great. Ex10 has wonderfully offered her home for the Texas BBQ, which allowed me to meet, in addition to some I've already mentioned, T-Bone and Tonto, RichnKrispy, Lori, ILoveBagpipes, and our Father on the 'Net, Pawtucket. And a special mention to Rhino. As my first Twig Leader and Class Coordinator, he showed a great heart for people. He didn't profess to know everything, he just lived what he did know, and always had time for my questions. Quit apologizing for getting me in TWI, Rhino! If everyone in it were like you, there wouldn't be a need for Greasespot Cafe! I humbly apologize for leaving anyone out. I don't think there's anyone here who hasn't blessed me. George
  6. One of the Houston weathermen todaymentioned that there is an upper-level low off the west coast of Florida that is moving westward. If Dean maintains its present speed, the low will keep it south (around Brownsville or Mexico). If Dean slows down, though, the low might be in a position to drag it up north towards Houston. Fast Dean -- GOOD! Slow Dean -- BAD! George
  7. Danny Elfman did the scores to several Burton films. Is that whom you had in mind? And I was kidding about the wav file. These days, I can handle mp3's pretty well. George
  8. "Benson" is correct, if anyone would like to step in for Suda. George
  9. How thoughtful! A wav file! I don't recognize the music, though it sounds as though it could be from a Tim Burton film. George
  10. Don't know Chris Cooper, either... George
  11. Let's see if both of these come up: George
  12. Yeah, Dean is more of a concern than Erin. I guess we can all pray that it turns north toward Florida.... George
  13. I thought I answered this earlier today. (I probably hit the Back button instead of Add Reply. I do that, sometimes...) "Fernwood 2nite." I can't remember if this has been done, but it's easy: two pics George
  14. Since I posted this one a few weeks ago, I'll let someone else chime in. George Besides, gagh is best when it's fresh!
  15. Now I get it. Suda, how many fingers is Lennon holding up? George
  16. Close enough. It was "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." I briefly skimmed If Chins Could Kill. Bruce Campbell pointed out that he's made a career of major roles in minor movies (e.g. "Army of Darkness") and minor roles in major movies (e.g. "Congo"). I like him in USA Network's "Burn Notice," although he's more subdued than usual. Have at it, WW. George
  17. Just a reminder to our new folks: only use songs that had radio airplay. Album cuts are okay if you've actually heard them on the radio. (Of course, just because I don't recognize a song doesn't mean it wasn't oft-played!) George
  18. What sort of connector do I need to connect the headphone jack to my computer? Also, I have Nero SmartStart on my computer for CD/DVD burning. Can I use it instead of the Roxio program? George
  19. You are correct about the episode, though I would hazard that "Spock's Brain" and "Journey to Eden" were even worse. George
  20. "Have you been lonely?" "What is loneliness?" "It's a... thirst. It is a flower dying in the desert." "The very old and lonely man, and a young and lonely man; we put on a pretty poor show, didn't we?" "You wouldn't understand that, would you? You see, I feel sorrier for you than I do for him, because you'll never know the things that love can drive a man to: the ecstasies, the miseries, the broken rules, the desperate chances, the glorious failures, the glorious victories. All of these things you'll never know...simply because the word "love" isn't written into your book." George
  21. Here's a still from the show. If no one gets it from this, I'll do another show. George
  22. The Andy Griffith Show had some wonderful supporting characters. Denver Pyle as Briscoe Darling was one of the best! George
  23. Actually, "Firefly" was on FOX, though the SciFi Channel re-ran it a year or two ago, including some episodes that didn't air before it was cancelled. Joss Whedon has a lot of pull to get a movie made of a cancelled TV show (not including Star Trek!). Serenity was the name of his spaceship and the name of the movie. You're up, Suda. George
  24. FALL + TITO + EARS = Fawlty Towers! You're up, wasway! George
