  1. Well, if you're going to be THAT PICKY... ;) George
  2. "Ticket to Ride" by the Beatles? George
  3. The Countess and I moved this year, one of the reasons being to eliminate the need to evacuate. Of course, a REAL storm running right over us would be disastrous, but we're far enough from the coast that a storm surge isn't a problem anymore. Still to early to get really concerned, though. George
  4. Well, it's not as if we'd ever communicate with them, anyway. I can just see some beings thousands of light-years away picking up one of our broadcast (thousands of years later, of course): Quick! Dispatch a mission to this "Earth." Gilligan and his friends are in real trouble! George
  5. I remember LCM ranting about "the only reason for a space program is military dominance!" I disagreed, of course; and it was one of the reasons I got booted from TWI. For me, Psalm 19 is plenty of reason for a space program (i.e., to learn more about God). No particular reason to LIVE on other planets, though. George
  6. Houston Intercontinental is the old name. It was renamed after (Papa) Bush a few years ago. George
  7. After Buck picks up his niece, they get "Bug" out of the trunk. Buck tees off at him with a driver. (The actual "weapons," I suppose, were the golf balls.) George
  8. I think we have another Fay: stick on or close to land, never really strengthen, hopefully move on a little more quickly! George
  9. "I saw your insurance chart once and it says the life expectancy of the average man is..." "For your information, I look barely in my '40s. That hardly qualifies me for the home for the aged. Yet." "You've been around so long and seen so much and done so much, and still manage to look so good." "Thanks a lot!" "I think you look real young. Honest. Younger than Joe Phillips' dad, younger than Claude Mesner's uncle, why even younger than..." "Before you have me back in kindergarten, see who's at the door, will you?" George
  10. Interesting post, Chas. It sort of begs the question, "What would TWI be like now if they HAD told the membership what was going on?" There probably would have been an exodus of the outraged, but I suspect that a lot of others would have remained, because it was the stonewalling that turned them off. Of course, I doubt that Rosie and the others are kicking themselves over it, since they STILL haven't come clean, and are unlikely to do so. George
  11. I can't speak for anyone else, but my "youthful enthusiasm" wasn't based on arrogance but on a desire to help others with what helped me. I never bought into the "TWI is the only source of truth" nonsense; but I did believe it was the best thing out there. Oh, and Belle, to this day I've never done drugs. :) George
  12. Interestingly, I am a direct descendant (on my mother's side) of Brian Boru, also. The episode is seeming much more familiar, but not enough of the real plot to go on, yet. George
  13. The classic "death of Chuckles the Clown" episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. George
  14. That's the one! Buck threatened "Bug" with a hatchet, a power drill, and a golf club. He didn't actually threaten the elementary school principal with a rat, but suggested that she get one to chew her mole off! The high school scenes were shot at New Trier West High School in Northfield, IL. The West campus was opened to handle the baby boomers in the New Trier school district. With the ensuing decline in enrollment, the West campus was closed, so it was available for the film. Since then, it was used as a junior college campus for a while; now it's the freshman campus for the high school (with New Trier East handling the upperclassmen). Some other New Trier graduates can be seen HERE (near the bottom of the page) George
  15. Yes. I figured that if you watched "Psych," you probably watch other USA series, as well. George
  16. Reminds me of "the good, old days," too. We had something that blessed us, and we wanted to share it with others. (I have a jack, and I WILL help you!) He'll find out, eventually. I hope it doesn't quell his desire to serve God. George
  17. Interesting comparison. I only met Ricao a couple of times, and he was quite ingratiating. (But then, so were Vic and Loy, when they wanted to be). Definitely have to agree here. I knew Robin when she lived in Houston. Bright (degree in biochemistry or biology, I forget which), easy on the eyes, and a sweetheart. Hard to figure out how she's stayed in Wayland so long. George
  18. I'm tempted to guess that this was an interaction between Neelix and Tuvok (perhaps the Voyager episode where they were trapped together); but WW's aversion to Voyager makes me doubt it. George
  19. No. This movie is a comedy. Its star died in 1994. (Hard to believe it's been that long.) George
  20. No, but good guess. This is a more recent show. George
  21. Uh, NIS, it appears you skipped a step. How did you get from Kevin Costner to Mary McDonnell? George
  22. Okay. Maybe the last clue isCafe, Diner, or Drive-in, but it still doesn't remind me of any TV show. George
  23. Sean Young No Way Out Kevin Costner George
