  1. After a week, I'm taking it. Who was that man? I'd like to shake his hand! He made my baby fall in love with me. Just the title is okay, if you can't remember th artist. George
  2. That actually seems vaguely familiar. George

  6. So, it's going to be like that, is it? :D George
  7. "You might as well try to outthink a calculating machine." "Obviously I can't." "Well, there's one difference between us: I'm hungry." "The difference is your weakness, Captain, not mine." "One at a time, gentlemen. Captain?" "Eating is a pleasure, sir. Unfortunately one you will never know." "Perhaps. But I will never starve, sir." "You are certain you recognize his voice?" "Have you ever been engaged?" "Do you realize the number of discoveries lost because of superstition, of ignorance? A layman's inability to comprehend?" George
  8. No, but it was in the Way songbook. It's just not one we sang much. Here's part of another verse: Though the angry surges roll On my tempest-driven soul, I am peaceful, for I know, Wildly though the winds may blow George
  9. I HATE it when that happens! Try this one as pic #2: George

    Funny Nun

I wasn't sure if this should go in "Just Plain Silly," but here it is: Funny Nun George
  11. Ironic pick, since the star has been indicted for murder. No, it wasn't OJ, either, although the same trick to get around double indemnity was used: fail to get a criminal verdict, go for a civil trial. George
  12. Definitely a Thinker. No other category even close. George
  13. Mighty tides about me sweep, Perils lurk within the deep, Angry clouds o’ershade the sky, And the tempest rises high; George
  14. They're coming to get you, Barbara!" "Stop it! You're ignorant!" "They're coming for you, Barbara!" "Stop it! You're acting like a child!" "They're coming for you!" "Look, there comes one of them now!" "He'll hear you!" "Here he comes now! I'm getting out of here!" "Now get the hell down in the cellar. You can be the boss down there, but I'm boss up here!" George
  15. "You are certain you recognize his voice?" "Have you ever been engaged?" "Do you realize the number of discoveries lost because of superstition, of ignorance? A layman's inability to comprehend?" George

  17. "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming"? George
  18. As I recall, "Moscow on the Hudson" was about Russian immigrants in New York. This sounds more like a Peter Sellers flick! George
  19. In general, I try to give clues that have the proper consonants, or reasonably close representations. For example, I might treat "d," "t," and "th" interchangeably, or "f" and "v." (One of the puzzles I'm proudest of was an early one I did with MIRROR + (Bill) CULLEN + (a ) DIRTY (face) + FORTS + TREAT (Williams) for "Miracle on 34th Street.) Rhyming sounds, or parts of words (like a banana for the sound BA), only make the puzzle more confusing. I have no problem with PIE-TEA for "party,' though I probably would have used Jack Paar (or the part on a man's head) for the first syllable. The letter "F" and a beehive would have worked for "of five"; but those are just my preferences. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from playing! I'll have one up later today. George
  20. Sounds pretty silly, but I haven't seen it. George
