  1. Correct. And, yeah, why Chicago? George
  2. Always seemed to be an anti-TWI site to me (with rooms for a lot of other discussions). George
  3. I know I don't. (I guess there is sort of a "I will gladly pay you Tuesday..." theme, though.) Not I. Not the city, not the song, not the movie. And I grew up there! George
  4. Let's see. Someone seems to be whipping sweet potatoes. Or beating. Or pureeing. Or M*A*S*H ing them. George
  5. "Take us out." "Very good, sir." "Brought a tear to my eye." "Oh, be quiet." "Finding retirement a little lonely, are we?" "You know, I'm glad you're an engineer. With tact like that, you'd make a lousy psychiatrist." "Did we make a difference?" "Oh, yes. We made a difference." George
  6. "The Chronicles of Narnia"? (the first one) George
  7. They're in Houston. I see them a few times a year. Kelly still has her challenges, but they're OK. Scarlet is listed, if you wish to call her. George
  8. "This is my bar and I'm going to defend it." "Really? And how do you plan to do that?" "With this." (holds up a closed box) "You're going to hit them with a box?" "No, this is my disruptor pistol, the one I used to carry in the old days when I was serving on that Ferengi freighter." "I thought you were the ship's cook." "That's right, and every member of that crew thought he was a food critic. If the Klingons try to get through these doors, I'll be ready for them." (Opens box, which is empty save for a note) (Takes the note, reads aloud) "'Dear Quark, I used parts of your disruptor to repair the replicators, will return them soon. -Rom'" "I will kill him!" "With what?" "I find this hand to hand combat really quite distasteful." "I suppose you prefer the simplicity of an interrogation chamber?" "You have to admit, it's much more civilized." "I didn't know you spoke Klingon." "Oh, you'd be surprised at the things you can learn when you're doing alterations." "I thought you might be tired of fighting holograms." "It would not be a fair match." "I'll go easy on you." "Captain, would you kindly inform this security guard that he does not have to monitor my every move? It makes me feel unwelcome." "Looks like I won, Benjamin. You owe me dinner." "And what is that supposed to mean?" "Captain Sisko bet me that you would thank him for the rescue before you started complaining." "I lost." "You robbed my son of his honor just to get my attention?" "You cannot take away what someone does not have." "What I can't understand is that inexplicable hostility toward me. Maligning Constable Odo was one thing; after all he's a changeling. The Klingons don't know him as well as we do. But relations between the Klingon and Cardassian Empires have never been anything but amicable." "With the exception of the Betreka Nebula incident." "A minor skirmish." "It lasted eighteen years!" "It was ages ago. Perhaps... they've decided they just didn't like me." "Not like you? Impossible." "What do you think?" "It's vile." "I know. It's so bubbly and cloying and happy." "Just like the Federation." "And you know what's really frightening? If you drink enough of it, you begin to like it." "It's insidious!" "Just like the Federation." George
  9. What? You didn't get beaten by unbelievers and thrown out from town to town? George
  10. I can remember the second line "How can people be so cruel?" but I can't remember the title or performer. :( George
  11. Nooo idea! (Though it may be a werewolf film?) George
  12. I had a BCC removed a few years ago. I've also had some actinic keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions) on my face. The dermatologist removed the latter with liquid nitrogen, but then later gave me a tube of fluorouracil to use on my face to get them all. It actually is chemotherapy, but the effect is that of a nasty skin peel. Anyway, I'm okay now, but one needs to check often. Especially if you grew up like me without much concern about skin exposure. George
  13. Right. "Vengeance Unlimited" was a show starring Michael Madsen as a tough guy whou would help people in trouble if they would a.) pay him a million dollars, or b.) promise to do him a favor down the road. (He would often call in these favors to help a later client.) As is often the case, I was alone in watching the show; it was cancelled after about eight episodes. I agree that Purple Days was close enough. Go, PD! George
  14. Interesting point, Socks. I hadn't thought of the Council of Jerusalem in that context. George
