About 45 years ago I got a letter from Robert Clary exhorting Jewish people not to make light of the Holocaust. That seemed odd to me, since his and (to that point, anyway) Dawson's claim to fame was acting in a show making light of Nazi horrors. No, this was an earlier, National League pitcher. Interestingly, one of his teammates, a few years later, threw a no-hitter and then eight no-hit innings in back-to-back starts, but lost the second no-hitter in the ninth inning. The pitcher had some good years and some bad. Four All-Star appearances and one World Series, but only a 119-121 won-lost record overall. He was one of only six NL pitchers to lead the league in strikeouts three years in a row. He is in his team's Hall of Fame, but not the MLB Hall of Fame. He is really only remembered for the back-to-back no-hitters. George
