Presumably, if you had had a nickel, you would have laid your money down. George -

Mellow Yellow Maybe marginal for this thread, so a little bit more than one line: "Girl, you thought you found the answer on that magic carpet ride last night; But when you wake up in the mornin' the world still gets you uptight." George -

This was the first NBC show to air five days a week. It was also the first show ever to air 1000 episodes. One of the main roles was performed by a few different actors. One, when fired from the show for the SECOND time, went on to star in another show (for which he is arguably better known). George

I'm confused. This is "Three Movies or Three Actors," not "Name that Actor/Actress or Role." These seem to be roles by an actress. George

I suppose that POWs in a Nazi war camp is not the most likely idea for a comedy. I'm a member of a (traditionally) Jewish fraternity, ZBT. About 45 years ago I got a letter from Robert Clary exhorting Jewish people not to make light of the Holocaust. That seemed odd to me, since his and (to that point, anyway) Dawson's claim to fame was acting in a show making light of Nazi horrors. Of course, it's not as if I haven't done things that I've been ashamed of, afterwards. George

Hogan's Heroes? I know that Richard Dawson and Robert Clary are Jewish. I don't know about Werner Klemperer, but he would have been old enough to have been alive during WWII. George

No, this was an earlier, National League pitcher. Interestingly, one of his teammates, a few years later, threw a no-hitter and then eight no-hit innings in back-to-back starts, but lost the second no-hitter in the ninth inning. The pitcher had some good years and some bad. Four All-Star appearances and one World Series, but only a 119-121 won-lost record overall. He was one of only six NL pitchers to lead the league in strikeouts three years in a row. He is in his team's Hall of Fame, but not the MLB Hall of Fame. He is really only remembered for the back-to-back no-hitters. George

So, does this mean that these are backstories of the characters, or roles played by the actors on other series? George

YES!!! Woody Allen plays a character who sort of morphs into whatever group he happens to come across. I was almost going to write that he might have been Durlan or Martian. George

I'm assuming those aren't movie titles, but I don't recognize a single name. George

I can almost hear it. Female vocal, but not 5th Dimension or Mamas and Papas. George
