Actually, that's not nearly as bizarre as you might think. You can combine two horribly toxic chemicals, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid, and get salt water. Obviously, the attempt to mitigate the oil spill is more complex, but anything that can break down the longer molecules in the oil will make the system more biodegradable. As long as the dispersants aren't toxic to the marine biota that eat the oil fragments, the net effect will be to improve the water quality. Oil leaks out underwater all the time, and various microbes have evolved to use the oil as food. (For that matter, it happens on land, too. Have you ever wondered where all the blown tire fragments on the highway wind up? Microbe food!) Unfortunately, a leak this size overwhelms the system, so it will take many years to recover fully. The Pemex oil spill in the Gulf 30 years ago made a mess of Texas beaches for years, but it all eventually got cleaned up by Mother Nature. George
  2. "Come on everybody, clap your hands!" "Ohhh, you're looking good!" George
  3. "Chantilly Lace" by the Big Bopper "Come on everybody, clap your hands!" George
  4. "Bon appetit!" "I'm not kidding you; I'm not. Someone is going to publish your book. Someone is going to read your book, and realize what you've done. Because YOUR BOOK is amazing. YOUR BOOK is a work of genius. YOUR BOOK is going to change the world." "These damn things are as hot as a stiff c--k!" "You are the butter to my bread, you are the breath to my life." "I have to murder and dismember a crustacean." George
  5. I got my undergraduate degree at MIT. I think most of the students there had Asperger's to some degree. The ability to focus is essential to success there, and who can tell if you have no social skills when you're all geeks? Congratulations, by the way. George
  6. Let's re-start this with an easy one: "Live long, and prosper." "I shall do neither, because I have killed my Captain, and my friend." "You may find, in time, that having is not so pleasnt as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." George

  8. Of course. In the first quote(s), Van Helsing had already deterred Dracula with wolfbane, but this time he pulls out a cross, causing Dracula to recoil. In the second quote, Dracula is trying to take over Van Helsing's mind ("Come...HERE!), but Van Helsing is able to resist. You're up! George
  9. I've heard of it, but I doubt I've seen it. George
  10. A movie starring Al Yankovic, of course. He takes over a UHF TV station that his uncle wins in a poker game and programs REALLY weird stuff. Features a pre-Kramer Michael Richards and, of course, Fran Drescher. Now, do you know any other movies she was in? George
  11. No. Although the song was usually referred to by its repeated line "I can dance," the actual title is a brief bit of the second verse. Free post! George
  12. Sounds like the government with our taxes! George
  13. Still not it. Here's the rest of the first verse. I was traveling down the road, feeling hungry and cold I saw a sign saying "Food and drinks for everyone" So, naturally,I thought I would take me a look inside. There was so much food there was water coming from my eyes! George
  14. "Weird" Al Yankovic UHF Fran Drescher George
  15. "Terminator: Salvation"? Nothing wrong with using new movies,BTW. They just have to be well-viewed enough for people to figure out your clues. Older movies usually have been seen by more people. George
  16. There were different versions of the P&G story. The most amusing was that the CEO had supposedly said on some talk show that he had sold out to Satan for his (and P&G's) success. Of course, no one could find the actual tape. Equally looney (pun intended) was the idea that the "man in the moon" symbol was designed so that in the mirror the curls on his beard look like "666." (It actually did, but I doubt there was diabolical influence.) When I went to work for Dow, one of my co-workers in graduate school went to P&G. I asked him how it was, working for Satan. "Great! We have naked women everywhere and drug breaks every hour!" George
  17. I'm confused. If Garth is giving a line from a different movie, it's not his turn. I certainly don't recognize it from the movie I quoted. Anyway, here's another line from the movie I quoted earlier. If this doesn't give it away, you're just not paying attention! "Your will is strong, Van Helsing." George
  18. Nope. This is a quirky song, but it got a LOT of airplay. Here's another line, with the first one corrected: I was traveling down the road, feeling hungry and cold I saw a sign saying "Food and drinks for everyone" George
  19. Yeah, Babe! Did RumRunner make you a cheesecake? ;) George
  20. I was traveling the road, kind of hungry and cold George
  21. If widespread dissemination of the content were the intent, your point would be valid. It is, however, much easier to control who receives the message if it's transmitted by phone. Geroge
