  1. "You are throwing it all away... all of you!" "You're being a fool!" "Well, then, don't ask my opinion next time!" "So, where can someone practice with his phaser around here?" "The Enterprise has been ordered to the Lapolis system. They're scheduled to depart at zero-five hundred hours after offloading three runabout class vessels. Meanwhile, our medical and science officers are arriving... and I'm looking forward to a reunion with a... very old... friend." "Computer.... You and I need to have a little talk." "That may be the most important thing to understand about humans. It is the unknown that defines our existence. We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions. We are explorers. We explore our lives, day by day. And we explore the galaxy, trying to expand the boundaries of our knowledge. And that is why I am here. Not to conquer you with weapons or ideas, but to co-exist and learn." George
  2. If it helps, you don't need the woman's name, because she's in a ------ . George
  3. No. "Gompa, I have ruined myself with the American. He is a fool." "But he's brave." "He is irresponsible." "But he's generous." "He thinks of nothing but protecting his own feelings." "But if you touch his heart, there's nothing he wouldn't do for you." "He believes in nothing." "Yet, still he does what is right." "He is a callous, thoughtless, undisciplined fool." "[chuckles] Yes. I, too, like him very much. It's very hard not to." "So, I gotta go to Tibet, because I'm the Chosen One. Why can't anybody choose me to go to the Bahamas?" "Keep your thought as pure as the water." "Hey, this water ain't really that pure." "Un-heh, neither are you." "Only a man whose heart is pure can wield the knife, and only a man whose a-s-s is narrow can get down these steps. And if mine's is such an a-s-s, then I shall have it." George
  4. I remember all the women around here being gaga over Patrick Swayze. I thought the movie was OK, but not that great. Anyway, my point was, don't berate the rest of us for not remembering your favorite movies! Heck, no one remembered "Tommy Boy." Shnikeys! "Keep your thought as pure as the water." "Hey, this water ain't really that pure." "Un-heh, neither are you." "Only a man whose heart is pure can wield the knife, and only a man whose a-s-s is narrow can get down these steps. And if mine's is such an a-s-s, then I shall have it." George (re-punctuated to circumvent the cuss-blocker)
  5. Lloyd Bridges Hot Shots! Part Deux Charlie Sheen George
  6. Are you trying to paint this thread into a corner? :) As it happens, Ray Charles DID appear in ONE other theatrical release, which I had to google to find. So, I'll pass for now. George
  7. It's only "not that hard" if you've seen the movie. And what the heck is an "adultesant"? Adolescent, maybe? Could this be "Road House"? (I actually did see that movie, but it's been a long time...) George
  8. Okay, here's yet ANOTHER woman with the same last name And another picture of the second woman The third stays the same, but you're free to google "Haven" George
  9. That's right. He did play in Top Gun,but I'll go with M*A*S*H Donald Sutherland Animal House George
  10. I think there was a movie a few years ago called "Simone," about a computer-generated model. Are the quotes from that movie? George
  11. Well, I know who Tom Skerrit is, and I can think of a number of TV appearances, but the only other movie I can remember offhand is "Opposing Force"; and I don't remember the names of any of the co-stars. :( George
  12. Actually, wasn't Emporia a minimum-security prison for a while (not including its Way tenure)? George
  13. I think the second set of clues better mimics the actual sounds, but both were well-conceived. I'll post a new one later. George
  14. Ahhh. So Rome + Owen was "Romeo and" and the net/ball deal was "let" ROME + OWEN + JEWEL + LET or ROW + MEOW + ANNE (Bancroft) + JULIE + E.T. I dunno. Oh, wait "Romeo and Juliet." :) George
  15. Is that a movie quote, or a personal observation? If it's a quote, you might use boldface or some other way to distinguish it. George
  16. Okay, Let's replace the first picture with a different person: Note: the woman in the last pic would probably be the least familiar. I'll give the clue that she stars in the new SyFy show, "Haven." George
  17. Apparently, no one else has seen "Tommy Boy." :( FREE POST!! George
  18. OK, Let's play this one again. "The Enterprise has been ordered to the Lapolis system.
  19. For this thread, of course, the recording artist isn't required. But here's the Beatles' version: MONEY (That's What I Want) New song: "You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht." George
  20. Actually, isn't this the Beatles' tune "Money"? George
  21. And this is key. I gather that most of us are in the 40-60 years old range, so songs from the 60's to the 80's will probably be most recognizable. This "handicaps" the 20-30 year olds somewhat, in that songs by Godsmack, Korn, or Rage Against the Machine will get nothing but blank stares from the rest of us. (I couldn't name a single song from those groups, but my kids love them.) Even within age groups, there are certain "cliques." I'm not a Deadhead. I couldn't give a lyric from one of their songs, though someone else here might sing them in his sleep. The point is to TRY to give a line (ideally, the first) from a song which will give it away to the majority of folks here. More obscure songs should be relegated to "Name That Tune." I suggest that if no one gets your clue within about a day, just post the title and try another (or offer a free post). George
  22. No. They did it for "free." Interestingly, they had to try a couple of times, so when they were done every e-mail in my folder had about five copies! I went back and deleted the "extras." George
