  4. Okay. It was Minnie Minoso. Got beaned a lot, ran into the outfield wall a lot, but still managed a great career. He essentially retired in 1964, but when Bill Veeck bought the White Sox in 1976, he brought Minoso back for three games (eight at-bats) and then again in 1980 (two games, two at-bats), making him the only player to play in the 40, 50s, 60, 70s, and 80s. New trivia (I expect someone to get this quickly): What is the longest word in the English language, excluding protein names? (Names of antibodies, because each amino acid is included in the name, can easily run over 100,000 letters.) George

  8. He doesn't have the familiarity of a Babe Ruth or a Nolan Ryan, more like a Tim McCarver. He would probably be unknown to anyone under 50. His name is similar to the title of a song from The Blues Brothers. No one gets it today, I'll post another. George

  11. Robinson is in the Hall of Fame. This player is known mostly for his career with the White Sox. (The fact that he got beaned a lot was mentioned in the book "The Last Catholic in America." Robert Klein also had a bit about him.) George
  12. The first clue sounds like "Bosom Buddies," but none of the characters' names mean cattle are dying. George
  13. It could be Apollo 13. The thing is, it sounds familiar; but I can't place it at all. George
  14. Keerect. You should name a performer on this thread. George
  15. I usually don't put up a "cone" until we have a named storm, but TD 16 looks to be a tropical storm hitting the eastern seaboard this weekend: George
  16. I just realized that this song only has two verses and a chorus that gets repeated A LOT. Here's the other verse with the title redacted: In her younger days, they called her [TITLE] Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on Then a man of low degree stood by her side And he promised her he'd take her for his bride George
