So, A-Rod has joined the "600 Club." When I was a kid, the only player with more than 600 homers was Babe Ruth, who had retired long before. In my early teens, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron joined the group. So it remained for another thirty years. In the last decade, there have been four more (with a couple more in striking distance). The "Steroid Era"? I think only Ken Griffey, Jr., is the only newbie without (known) steroid taint. A pity, I think. George

As I said, I might well have seen it. Now that I know the movie and who said the lines, I can get a (dim) mind picture of it. If the scene is that famous, I'm sure someone else will chime in. And we all have different "movie histories." I,for one, have only seen about 30 minutes of "Gone with the Wind." George

I finally googled this. I may, indeed, have seen it, on some old movie station or another. I doubt any "kids" will get it, though, since it was made before I was born! George

My only direct contact with DM was at the Word in Business, I think in 1996. It was the Saturday evening "Do." On my way into the dance hall, I had seen LCM heading back into the hotel proper. Since DM was unattended, I thought she might like to dance, and I asked her. She immediately looked around to find another young lady to dance with me, assuring me that there were plenty to choose from! Maybe she thought it wouldn't have been proper for someone in her "station"; but I honestly think she was just trying to bless me. As a sidenote: in those days, I simply assumed that LCM was headed to the hotel for ministry business. Now I wonder if it was "funny business." George

Okay, maybe that LINE was a bit obscure, but the movie isn't. Here's another brief exchange from the same film: "What am I gonna do with you people, huh? "Why do you say this to me… when you know I will kill you for it?" George

Did Abbott and Costello ever meet Robin Hood? That "purple pimpernel" business seems familiar, but I can't place it. And the "Get it--Got it--Good" routine is also familiar, but maybe that's because Burns and Schreiber used it a lot. :unsure: George

Human might be right, but I've seen two versions of "The Three Musketeers," and I don't remember those lines from either of them. This seems more "spoofy." I'm going to guess "To Be or Not to Be." George

Human, There are a lot of great, old movies; but most of them aren't really suited to this thread, as very few of us have seen them. Unless it was a real blockbuster like "Gone with the Wind" or frequently quoted like "Casablanca," it's not likely to be remembered from one line. Something like "Tea and Sympathy" is better suited to "Name that Flick," where several lines can (and should) be given. Even there, though, you're likely to "stump the panel" with any movie made before 1960 (or 1970!). Let's try this one: "General, would you like to step outside?" George
