songs remembered from just one line
GeorgeStGeorge replied to bulwinkl's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
"We Can Work It Out" (Not the first line) Think of me, Babe, whenever some sweet-talking girl comes around George -
The "new girl in town" line seems familiar (though, maybe I'm recalling an old "Charlie" -- perfume -- ad). The other quote (?) doesn't make it clearer, to me. Since the FOX network came on in the early 80's. I can think of a lot of pre-1980 shows with female leads, but none that lasted nine years. George

1: "Drink up. Here's to fifty million clams." 2: "To the defilement of Earth and the corruption of its people." 1: "Okay whatever, just drink it." 2: "It's awfully hot down here. How do you manage to stay so cool?" 3: "Uh, beer lowers the body temperature. I read that in a beer magazine." 2: "This liquid would probably quench my thirst, cool me off." 1: "Definitely." 3: "It'll give you a pretty good buzz." 2: "Or maybe it will trap me inside for all of eternity." 3: "Uh, no it won't." Right. As a kid, and pretty unfamiliar with "The Honeymooners," it never occurred to me that "The Flintsones" was a rip-off. It wasn't until years later, when I read a Jackie Gleason interview in Playboy, where he pointed it out, that I saw the similarity. Gleason said it was OK, though: Alan Reed ("Fred") occasionally even "looped" for Gleason on "The Honeymooners." While I've got the floor, I might as well answer the rest of my "Charlie's Angels" questions: Jill Munroe = Farrah Fawcett Kelly Garrett = Jaclyn Smith* Sabrina Duncan = Kate Jackson Kris Munroe = Cheryl Ladd (not Tiegs!) Tiffany Welles = Shelley Hack Julie Rogers = Tanya Roberts *the only "Angel" for the whole run George

"Well, I believe in the soul, the c-ck, the p--sy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated cr-p. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." George

You conflated Kate Jackson ("Sabrina") and Jaclyn Smith ("Kelly"). Kate Smith, was, of course, the singer famous for "God Bless America." Not exactly the "Angel" type: I guess I got ONE of your Richard Hatches. I wouldn't have thought of the "Survivor" guy, but I do remember him, now that you mention him. Is it my turn? George

My "extra credit" questions were open to all, though I got a chuckle out of WW's response. Kate Smith? Let's leave it open. I'll give the answers in a couple of days, if necessary. As for WW's question, Richard Hatch played "Apollo" in the original Battlestar Galactica. In the newer version, he played (featured role, not a star) someone on the Council (or Congress, or whatever it was frackin' called); he ran for President. That's two shows (with the same name). If he starred in anything else, I don't remember it. George

It was, in fact, "Charlie's Angels." WW is up for the next "Mash-Up," but I have two "extra credit" questions? Can you name the actresses for each of those characters; and, which one was an "Angel" for the whole run of the show? George

There's nothing wrong with posting a video. Just post the title and artist, as well. George
