The star of this show was a tall, ex-football player, playing a detective. His partner was a gorgeous brunette. As petite as she was, however (at least, compared to the star), she was always wearing high heels while chasing the bad guys. Ah, the 80's! George

"Ah, the soldier out of time." "Trust me, the only one outta time is you." "Your world in the balance and you bargain for one man?" "Regimes fall every day. I tend not to weep over that, I'm Russian... or was." "We have no quarrel with your people." "An ant has no quarrel with a boot." George

Wait a minute. Wasn't there a recent remake of "Fright Night"? George

Sorry. All the "ight" rhymes aren't making it clearer to me. (I'd guess "Love at First Bite," but that was well before the Twilight films.) George

That's it. The "Rate a Record" spot was always entertaining. You're up! George

Freelancer, In this particular thread, the idea is to pick a song that at least a large fraction of the readers will guess from its first line. "Name That Tune" is more for less well-known songs. Glad to have you playing. Feel free to try the other game threads. I have a thread pinned at the top of the forum explaining how the games are played (Except for "TV Mash Up," which is relatively new. You can find out its rules at the beginning of that thread. "Babylon 5" is correct. Babylon 5 was essentially a space United Nations, where Minbari, Centauri, Narn, Vorlons, and Humans (among others) basically tried not to kill each other and eventually band together against "the Shadows." The CGI was state-of-the-art at the time. The last season seemed more of an afterthought, but it was well-written and well-acted. It was often compared with (also well-written and -acted) Deep Space 9, although the only real ties were that both occured in space and had integers lower than 10 in their titles. You're up, Wolfie!

My hard drive crashed, and I had to send it away to have the data recovered. Costing me $2000. Great ad for Carbonite! The movie is "The Natural." "Gus Sands" (Darrin McGavin) bets "Roy Hobbs" (Robert Redford) that he can't strike out "the Whammer" (Joe Don Baker) on three pitches, but he does. Sands has Hobbs shot later. FREE POST George

I can't find this quote online, so I might not have it exactly. But it's a famous film, and the line should be recognizable to someone who's seen it. I once lost a hundred bucks on three pitches. Got even with the guy, later, though. George PS My home computer is out of business for a while, so I won't be posting on weekends.

I'll have to give this one some thought. Sadly, though, it's gotten to the point that I don't WANT to "win" in this thread, because it's so hard to come up with new ones. :) George

Well, vampires. But I haven't seen this one (or anhy of the Twilight series, for that matter...) George

The show was often compared with one of the Star Trek series, which debuted about the same time. George
