  1. Reminds me of the "Cheers" episode where Cliff is on "Jeopardy"! :) George
  2. The story of Jesus or the Passion? (Unlikely for a Soviet film, but who knows?) They both speak English. They're both older than 20. They both make a lot of money. ;) George
  3. Spirit of 76 Olivia d'Abo Conan the Destroyer George
  4. It was not about military operations. The star had appeared a number of times on "The Rockford Files." He wanted his character to be like Jim Rockford, though the studio wanted him to be more straight-laced. This show was sort of a spin-off from "Hawaii 5-0," in that CBS didn't want to close its Hawaiian production offices, and so set this show there. "Hawaii 5-0" and "McGarrett" were occasionally mentioned, though not seen. One of the main characters was a British WW II veteran, played by a Texan who was a child during WW II. That same character had four illegitimate siblings, all sharing the same father but different mothers: Father Paddy McGuinness, an Irish priest; Soo Ling, a half-Chinese sister; Elmo Ziller, a rodeo owner from Texas; and Don Louis Mongueo, a royal heir to the throne of Costa De Rosa in South America. The title character was a Vietnam veteran, one of the first to be shown in a favorable light. He had been in the Navy. Although it wasn't explicitly stated, from the medals he occasionally wore, he was a SEAL and recipient of the Navy Cross. The show had crossover episodes with "Simon and Simon" and "Murder, She Wrote." Dobermans "Zeus" and "Apollo" guarded the estate. All the male stars, save one, had moustaches. The ex-SEAL was a private investigator. George
  5. Never mind. "Robocop and a Half" FREE POST George
  6. I've done this one before, but it's been a while: ARRRRRRMY training, SIR! George
  7. I must say that all these accounts of God providing a hedge of protection FROM THE CORPS have been quite amusing! George
  8. "Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery"? (the first AP film) George
  9. Indeed. Jamie Lee Curtis was the only actual teen-ager in the cast. You're up. George
  10. Okay. A bit more obvious. This movie was filmed for $300,000. It grossed $47,000,000 (back when $47 million was a lot of money). Set in Illinois in October, it was filmed in California in the spring. Autumn "leaves" were cut paper. In the background of several scenes, though, green trees (and even palm trees) can be seen. The opening score and theme music were in 5/4 time. The film was the first feature film for the lead actress, who has gone on to a very successful career. She was paid $8000 for this one. (Not chump change when this was filmed, but not a lot, either. That was more than my annual rent that year, but then, I was a graduate student living in a studio apartment!) Several sequels and a remake have been in the theaters. The main villain in the film wears a modified William Shatner mask. The point of the movie was not that virginity defeats psychos, but that virgins are more alert, not being distracted by sex. George
  11. Well, no one was getting it without the hint... You're up. George

  15. And the movie with "Devin Butler" is the second half of this B&A. George
  16. I spoke with Don at the Rock one year, but never met the old guy. I DID get a response from him, though, to a letter I wrote. Having been brought up Roman Catholic, I pointed out that "Uncle Harry Day" smacked of a saint's feast day. He sent a pleasant, if unconvincing, response that it was OK to celebrate "Uncle Harry Day." Shortly thereafter, though, the name was changed to "Burn the Chaff Day." Coincidence? Perhaps... George
  17. No. "Devin Butler" is the eight-year-old from the other movie. George
  18. That's generally the way it works! :) You're up. George
  19. Hear me now and understand He's gonna find me some piece of mind And if that piece of mind won't stay I'm gonna find myself a better way George
  20. Devon Butler is an eight-year-old who dreams of being a policeman. Ironically, he gets his wish when he is killed by a street gang, but is revived as a cyborg policeman. George
