  1. A detective show, there were a lot of allusions to Sherlock Holmes. The main character's first assistant was a doctor. The local law enforcement officers, LEland STottlemeyer and RAndy DEacon* represent Lestrade. And the character's brother also appears in a number of episodes. *changed to Randy Disher, later This show was originally to be on ABC, with Michael Richards as the star. When that fell through, USA Network picked up the show (with a different star). As it became quite successful, ABC aired 2nd-run episodes, but only for one season. It was the first USA Network show actually filmed in the USA. George
  2. No, but not a bad guess. Most of the characters in this movie are Norsemen. "We shall pray for your safe return!" "Pray to whom?" "In your land one God may be enough, but here we have need of many. I will pray to all of them for you. Do not be offended!" "I'll be in your debt!" "Goodbye, Arab!" "Goodbye, Northman." "How can you sleep at a time like this?" "The All-Father wove the skein of your life a long time ago. Go and hide in a hole if you wish, but you won't live one instant longer. Your fate is fixed. Fear profits a man nothing." "Blow-hards the both of you. She probably was some smoke-colored camp girl. Looked like that one's mother." "My mother was a pure woman from a noble family. And I, at least, know who my father is, you pig-eating son of a whore!" "Merciful Father, I have squandered my days with plans of many things. This was not among them. But at this moment, I beg only to live the next few minutes well. For all we ought to have thought, and have not thought; all we ought to have said, and have not said; all we ought to have done, and have not done; I pray thee, God, for forgiveness." "Where did you learn our language?" "I listened!" George
  3. It seems slightly familiar, but that may be that just some of the lyrics are like those of other songs. George

  20. No. "Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come." "If you smash into something good, you should hold on until it's time to let go." "Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you. Like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly. You shouldn't have to wake up day after day after that, trying to understand how in the world you didn't know. The light just never went on, you know. I must have known, of course, but I was too scared to see the truth. Then fear just makes you so stupid." "No, it's not stupid, Signora Mayes. L'amore e cieco." "Oh, love is blind. Yeah, we have that saying too." "Everybody has that saying because it's true everywhere." George
  21. Actually, I've heard of "Reservation Road." I just couldn't tell you who was in it. Haven't heard of "Rumor Has It." George
