  1. I'm not sure if that's resignation, or perhaps a reason to do nothing. We can't catch all burglars, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't catch the ones we can. We can't deport all criminal invaders of our country, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't get rid of any of them. Roy makes an interesting case for school cameras. I suppose how one feels about it depends on where on the liberty-security spectrum one's personal ideology lies. It would be hard to dispute that such cameras would offer protection for children (and for teachers, actually). It's the potential for abuse (who could REALLY have access to the video?) which makes it problematic. George
  2. I'm not sure I would ever have gotten it from the names, but if Raf is correct, I'd have to guess Groucho Marx George
  3. Conspiracy Theory Julia Roberts Steel Magnolias George
  4. And like the cursed fig, it died from the root up. George
  5. The Dream Team Christopher Lloyd The Addams Family George
  6. No. No version of the Batmobile was an Imperial. This was the first (originally) full-length movie about this particular character, although some serials from 1940 were combined to make a full-length feature. 29 copies of the hero's car were cobbled together from old '64, '65, and '66 Chrysler Imperials. Three of them survived the movie's production. The star, more well-known as a comedic actor, dropped 30 pounds to play this role. Nicolas Cage was initially cast as Chudnofsky, but dropped out. He intended to play the role with a Jamaican accent, much to director Michel Gondry's dismay. George
  7. Hopefully, there will be more familiar roles upcoming. :) George
  8. All right, then how about He slimed me! George
  9. I invite any of you who have not done so yet to look at the offerings in the Movies, Music, Books, Art Forum. As well as threads discussing various art forms (including TV), there are a number of game threads to pass the time and maybe to get to know other 'spotters a bit better. I have posted a thread, pinned at the top of the forum, explaining how the games are played. (The two basic rules are: the person who answers the current puzzle correctly gets to post the next one, and no googling to get an answer. The games are tests of memory, not search engine skill.) :) These threads used to have about twenty contributors. Now, there are three die-hards and two or three occasional players. Drop in, and give it a try. After all, there's more to life than pointing out TWI's flaws! George
  10. It wasn't Boris Karloff. Bobby Pickett used a Karloff like voice and even used the nickname "Borey". Human, you're up. George
  11. I thought of Sigourney Weaver, but she played Gwen DEMARCO in "Galaxy Quest," not Gwen SUNDAY. I expect that there will be at least one at the end of this, but I'm not getting any ideas. George
  12. Correct. This show lasted 10 seasons. Of the five main characters, only three appeared in all 250 episodes. One of the stars was fired after seven seasons due to cocaine addiction. Gavin McLeod, Bernie Kopell, and Ted Lange appeared in all of the episodes. Lauren Tewes developed a coke addiction and was fired for frequently not showing up for work. The series was based on a novel by Jeraldine Saunders. This series was based upon Jeraldine Saunders novel titled, "The Love Boats". She wrote the book from her personal observations while serving as a hostess on a cruise ship. Dick van Patten played the lead character in the TV-movie pilot, but due to his starring in "Eight Is Enough," he could not play the role in the series. Two of the stars were well-known from roles in earlier sitcoms. After the show, one of the stars was a US Congressman and CEO of Goodwill Industries. Gavin McLeod was famous for his role in the Mary Tyler Moore show; Bernie Kopell had recurring roles in Get Smart and Bewitched. Grandy has had a very successful career out of show business. George
  13. That worked for me, too. I hope we see more of them. George

  15. Sorry. By George, I think she's got it! George
  16. Sorry. I forgot that you might be seeing Supergirl late, as well, though if you've seen part of the first episode, you would have seen almost everything I mentioned. George
  17. It would appear that you have succeeded. :) George
