  1. Sorry. Still not getting it. For a hint, is the foreign prince part the first, or second, half? George
  2. Inego Montoya (from "The Princess Bride") "Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA? Is that what you're telling me?" George
  3. I understand your thinking, but AB lasted WAY longer than two seasons! The series was brought back in 1995 on Showtime (and later, the Sci-Fi Channel). The only actors to appear in the original and the revival were Leonard Nimoy, David McCallum, Cliff Robertson, Barbara Rush and Peter Breck. Many scenes and some entire episodes of the series were filmed on location at series creator Joseph Stefano's home called Villa Di Stefano, from which the production company took its name. The original title for this show was "Please Stand By". But, America was facing the Cuban Missile Crisis and the executives thought it might make people fearful of an air raid. An example of a television network deliberately killing a popular series by moving it to an inappropriate slot on their schedule. This series was a big hit, especially among younger viewers. For the second season, ABC moved it from Monday nights to 7:30 Saturday. It was not only an inappropriate timeslot for younger viewers, it served as the lead-in for The Lawrence Welk Show (1955) and was scheduled opposite the highly popular Jackie Gleason: American Scene Magazine (1962) on CBS. The series was pulled halfway into the second season. George
  4. Glad to have you back, relatively unscathed. George
  5. I DIDN'T look it up, but I also have no idea. George
  6. The first part's pretty obvious. I'm having trouble thinking of a super-hero movie that could come before or after it, though. George
  7. Sorry. James Wheeler Michael Bosworth John Gray Harley Davidson Nick Ray Teddy Lewis Robert "Boogie" Sheftell Harry Angel George

  9. Hopefully, it will turn at least somewhat eastward. If it passes to your east, it will mitigate SOME of the impact. George
  10. Look at the night and it don't seem so lonely We filled it up with only two And when I hurt Hurting runs off my shoulders How can I hurt when I'm holding you George
  11. That might explain it. Haven't seen the movie, but I may have seen the excerpt. You're still up. George
  12. Are you evacuating? Irma won't hang around as long as Harvey, but it's a mean storm! George
  13. I still remember one of the characters (Seth Rogen's. perhaps) calling him a "man-o-lantern"! George
  14. There are a lot of heartwarming stories. This one really caught my attention. It was almost like something out of a movie (or comic book). https://www.yahoo.com/news/texans-form-human-chain-rescue-171503730.html George
  15. "Vixen" movie (cartoon) on tonight on CW. George
  16. Thanks, guys. I'm back at work, today. No loss of utilities (except spotty satellite TV), no rain or wind damage, no home flooding. It could have been a LOT worse. My heart goes out to those for whom it WAS. George
  17. I imagine it's a little late for a "Cone of Harvey," though our friends in Louisiana might think otherwise. I've been able to avoid the devastation which has hit thousands of people in Houston and Corpus Christi. In my part of Pearland, there have been no utility outages. The streets have flooded, but no homes in danger. (There are no rivers/creeks/bayous in this area. Eastern Pearland has had some more significant flooding.) I haven't been able to leave since Friday, but I've got enough food for at least two to three days, and I expect to be able to get out tomorrow sometime. I'm thankful that it's only been an annoyance, here, not a disaster. I'd use an emoticon, but none of them seem appropriate. George
  18. I learned bridge when I was young. My parents played, and when my maternal grandmother would visit, we would play. Eventually all my brothers and sisters and the next-door neighbor family played. I played a bit in college and grad school, and for a year or two after starting work in Texas. Haven't played in several years, but I suspect I could hold my own (if you don't confuse me with all of the different bidding conventions). George
  19. "Idiocracy" was pretty funny. I suppose I cold go on a tangent in this thread, with movies that I just stumbled upon (bored, and it came on on cable) that were delightful surprises. I would put "The Princess Bride" in this category, as well. A number of people told me how wonderful it was, but from their descriptions, it seemed rather dorky. One weekend, it seemed as though every network was running it 24/7, so I just sucked it up, and watched it. Now one of my favorites. You know those stick on name tags you get at meetings, which say "Hello, My name is" (and you fill in your name)? I bought a T-shirt for my stepson that had one, silkscreened on, which said, "Hello, My name is Inego Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." George
  20. If it's on cable and I have nothing else to watch, I'll watch a superhero flick, again. I've actually only seen "Green Lantern" about four times. George
  21. I don't know about any movies I watch several times a year, but I watched "Mary Poppins" a gazillion times when I was young. Some others I've seen many times: "The Incredible Mr. Limpet," "The Princess Bride," "Sleeper," "What's Up, Tiger Lily?" and "Amazon Women on the Moon." (No, Raf -- not "Traxx.") George
