  1. I could have done Gandhi, but would you have known any other actor in it? Michael Caine Sleuth Laurence Olivier George
  2. I recognize the movie. I just don't know the character's name. (Never watched the film.) George
  3. Yes, though I would have expected "Matt Helm" to be the more obvious role. Of course, to "Cannonball Run" fans... You're up. George
  4. Not even close. Sam Harmon Jason Steel Tom Elder Dee Bishop Vernon Demarest Jamie Blake Matt Helm George
  5. No, that was actually "Treasure Island," by Robert Louis Stephenson. If you'd like to try, feel free to give a quote from a book, so we can guess the author. I've gotta tell you, though, the players here (myself, included) are better with pop culture than with literature. George
  6. Grace, When playing these games, it probably does help to start at the beginning, to learn the rules, but then you want to go to the LAST post, to find out where we are. You're trying to answer one which was answered three years ago (by me, coincidentally). That song, by the way, is "Rock and Roll Music," by the Beatles, and others. We quit playing this a while ago, because it was getting too hard to find songs with "rock" or "roll" in the lyrics, where that lyric wasn't also the song title. If you'd like to re-start the thread, give us a clue (i.e., a lyric). I'm game! (And I'm always happy to see new players join the fold!) George
  7. GVC, you're a couple of clues behind. The Borgnine pic was "Poseidon Adventure." We're on my newer set of clues, now. Welcome to the game! George
  8. Actually, I don't think ANY of the actors mentioned were in "Marty." This movie was a few years later; and, honestly, if you don't get it from the names I've listed, you won't get it from any of the other actors. George
  9. No. You're right about Belushi, but this movie came after "1941." (The other star of the movie in question also had a small role in "1941.") George
  10. A reasonable guess, but this movie was not a comedy (although it featured a number of laugh lines). George
  11. Taglines for this movie described it as "A Comic-Nightmare", nightmare being an appropriate word to describe this film's shoot. This was a troubled production because the two lead actors argued with the director, the director argued with the producers and everybody tried to rewrite the screenplay. Though the script is credited to Larry Gelbart, much of it was re-written, and Gelbart publicly aired his disapproval. At one point, one of the stars, who would soon die from a drug overdose within four months of the film debuting, accused writer Larry Gelbart of drinking too much. The star's drug use also caused problems for the production of the film. The 8th June 1981 edition of show-business trade paper 'Daily Variety' reported that salaries of the movie's two lead stars on this picture would be US $1.35 million and US $1 million respectively, with both actors receiving points (percentages) from the picture's profits. This film starred two comic actors who had worked together frequently. One's usual on-screen persona was over-the-top looney, while the other's was more sedate; and they were originally cast in the roles befitting those personae. Before the filming started, however, the stars decided to switch roles, so the usually manic actor played the quiet homebody. According to one of the stars, most of the production crew was on cocaine, an addiction the other star had been recently freed from. He fell back into using and died of an overdose the following year. Comedy stars Gene Wilder and Steve Martin were considered for the two lead male roles by producers Richard D. Zanuck and David Brown but in the end the parts were recast. George
  12. Make that two months. "You know what it is about you that fascinates them, don't you? It's the hair on your chest. Japanese men all have beautiful bare skin." "Japanese proverb say, "Bird never make nest in bare tree."" "The firing power inside my crater is enough to annihilate a small army. You can watch it all on TV. It's the last program you're likely to see." "Well, if I'm gonna be forced to watch television, may I smoke?" "Yes. Give him his cigarettes. It won't be the nicotine that kills you." "Permit me to introduce myself. I am Tanaka. Please call me Tiger." "If you're Tanaka, then how do you feel about me?" "I... love you." "Well, I'm glad we got that out of the way." George
  13. Name the actor Sam Harmon Jason Steel Tom Elder Dee Bishop Vernon Demarest George
  14. After two months, I think I can jump in. Well I'm not braggin' babe so don't put me down But I've got the fastest set of wheels in town When something comes up to me he don't even try Cause if I had a set of wings man I know she could fly George
  15. This one should be easy, but I'd like to get this started again. Tony Curtis Jack Lemmon Marilyn Monroe Joe E. Brown George
  16. No. If they make a Sharia Muslim version, let me know. George
  17. OK "Guardians of the Galaxy II" For an action flick, it dealt a LOT with interpersonal relationships. FREE POST George
  18. So, I see this list of new CW shows, and "Valor" comes right after Supergirl. Naturally, I think to myself, "Cool. They've spun off Mon-el in his own show." Well, unless he's an Army helicopter pilot, this show isn't about him. I also see that "Agents of SHIELD" is being replaced by "INHUMANS." I've heard that they've filmed an episode of "Black Lightning," but I don't see it on the fall schedule. Maybe they'll use it as a replacement, if one of the new shows falters. George
  19. Iron Man III Ben Kingsley Without a Clue George
  20. Fair guess, but this movie is much more recent. It's probably out of theaters, now (at least, in the States). You have the correct (general) genre. George
