  1. Well, that's embarrassing. I don't know if I ever watched the Swamp Thing TV show, but I did watch "Human Target" and "Birds of Prey." I don't think I'd call HT a cross between QL and MI, though. Impersonating someone is quite different from jumping (through time) into his body. And yes, if Oracle were a librarian rather than a teacher, and Black Canary were Dinah Lance, rather than Dinah Redmond, I'd have gotten it right away. New one soon. George
  2. John Travolta The Experts Kelly Preston George
  3. This week's Flash episode was very entertaining. Barry and Nora go back to a few recent timepoints in Flash show history, to gather various items. The re-staging of old episode parts was well done. I had a little trouble keeping track of the Wellses, though. George
  4. Some pet peeves: When people say "literally" when what they mean is anything but literal. "[Pick your favorite politician] is LITERALLY Hitler!" (No, that would be METAPHORICALLY.) When people say "exponentially" when they mean "greatly" or. perhaps, "by an order of magnitude." My savings in the bank are growing exponentially, but the exponent is pretty small. The correct pronunciation of "processes" is PRAH-ses-es (or, if you're British, PRO-ses-es). It is NOT prah-se-SEEZ. George
  5. That was the reasoning behind the 26th Amendment. When I was in college in Boston, the drinking age was 18. I went to graduate school in Illinois, where the drinking age was raised to 21, just after I turned 21. I was very popular with my fraternity, whenever booze was needed for a party. George
  6. Tom Wilkinson The Green Hornet Cameron Diaz George
  7. "Elseworlds" is used in the teaser. I think it's the name of the crossover (as, "Crisis on Earth-X" was, last year).
  8. Well, the annual crossover starts this coming weekend (in the US). No Legends, just Flash, Supergirl, and Arrow. Supergirl and Arrow (so far, and presumably Flash, tomorrow) have a great teaser. Barry Allen (John Wesley Ship, in his old Flash uniform) crawls across a landscape strewn with bodies (fallen heroes, presumably) reaching for a book, which is picked up by a Monitor before he can reach it. The subtitle says Earth-90. Now, we all know that the DC Multiverse has only 52 universes (or maybe 53). Why "Earth-90"? Shipp's "Flash" started in 1990. Apparently, back on Arrowverse Earth, Barry Allen and Oliver Queen switch roles. It's an "Elseworlds" story. Aren't they all, really? George
  9. Johnny Depp The Lone Ranger William Fichtner George
  10. I'm working on it, but if anyone has one ready to go, go ahead. George
  11. Journeyman was about a time traveler (I'm not sure if it was just in his own lifespan) and helped people. I liked it, so it lasted less than one season. I really don't have any idea about the others, but I'll wait to claim my turn if someone else can answer. Maybe a little more detail? George
  12. Some guesses: A) I, Zombie B) Preacher C) Journeyman No idea about the other two. George
  13. I've seen one episode of Game of Thrones. Which is one fewer than I've seen of Breaking Bad, and one more than I've seen of Walking Dead." George
  14. Howard is not a major character in this movie. More of a henchman. "And this just in. Scientists discover that Canadian bacon is ordinary ham." "Shane!" "Yes, sir?" "Drinks on the house." "Yes, sir." "No, wait a second. Drinks are 50% off." "Right." "No, wait a second. Double the price of everything!" "Yes, sir." "That's not fair! They've got rocks! All we've got are these machine guns. Oh, mother of pearl, here comes another one!" "I love to lurk. It's so me." "Do you really think wearing black will make you a bad guy?" "I'm wearing black! You just have on navy blue!" [shows their sleeves to compare] "See?" "HOWARD! Why am I wearing navy blue?" "I just thought it would look better on you..." [referring to the letters 'D.D.' being shot into the wall with bullets] "Do you have any idea what this could possibly mean?" "Doris Day. Just a guess." "Dom Deluise." "Daniel Day-Lewis." "Snoop Doggy Dogg." "Daphne du Maurier." "Oh, shut up." "Doc Duvalier." "David Duchovny?" "Delores Del Rio." "Shut up, you idiots." George
  15. Not even close. This movie was an adaptation from another genre, but not comic books. George
  16. "And this just in. Scientists discover that Canadian bacon is ordinary ham." "Shane!" "Yes, sir?" "Drinks on the house." "Yes, sir." "No, wait a second. Drinks are 50% off." "Right." 18. I was surprised that you had heard of "Special Unit 2" and, for that matter, that Raf knew "The Chronicle." Both were short-lived, not on "the big four" networks, and about 15 years ago. George
  19. You probably posted just after WW, while I was responding to him. You are correct. Here is the rundown: Two Secret Service agents (a man and a woman) hunt down supernatural artifacts, neutralize them, and bring them to a large repository. Warehouse 13 (the #1 rated SyFy show, so far) Two Chicago cops ( a man and a woman) track down "links" (folklore monsters which are links between apes and man) and eliminate them. Special Unit 2 Two cousins (a man and a woman) track down cursed antiques and retrieve them before they can cause harm. Friday the 13th Two newspaper reporters (a man and a woman) report on "true" supernatural events. They work for a tabloid, so none of their reporting is believed by the readers. The Chronicle Four people (three men and a woman -- with help from a couple of others) track down supernatural artifacts, neutralize them, and store them in a large repository. The Librarians I probably could have added a crusty old guy to each ensemble: Warehouse 13: Saul Rubinek as Artie, the Warehouse curator Special Unit 2: Richard Gant as Capt. Page Friday the 13th: Chris Wiggins as Jack Marshak The Chronicle: Jon Polito as Donald Stern, the Editor The Librarians: John Larroquette as Jenkins (who is actually Sir Galahad) Raf's up. George
  20. I'm sure that's a Sherlock Holmes film, not because I've seen it, but because, when I was in college, my roommate read the exchange between Holmes and Watson which was the same as between you two. I don't remember which story it was, but I'll guess "The Seven Percent Solution." George
  21. You are correct about #3. The other two shows are on the list, but not where you have them. Hint: if the remaining shows are "The Librarians" and "The Chronicle," can you match them all correctly? George
  22. Anchorman Christina Applegate Bad Moms George
  23. Correct. Phil Silvers created the character for the Phil Silvers Show and continued the character for years. Martin's film, however, was the first movie adaptation. George
