  1. So far, I've seen the Supergirl episode and a few minutes of the Arrow episode. The story is much more homogeneous than the previous crossover (i.e., the Supergirl episode doesn't center on Supergirl, etc.). I don't think this will be a spoiler: Harrison Wells points out that there are NOT, in fact, 52 earths, but 53. "Earth-X" is so bad that no one enumerates it with the rest. Really? I hope we get to see the Freedom Fighters (especially, of course, Phantom Lady). George
  2. Supergirl and Arrow, tonight (in the US). Should be fun. I just wish they would use J'onn J'onzz. (Speaking of whom, I'm getting a kick out of Carl Lumbly as his dad.) George
  3. Again, half of the clue is obvious to me; the other half, not so much. George
  4. Assuming Raf Modcat is following this, maybe he can help you with your login issue. Sounds like a real pain. George
  5. I'm not sure what encryption has to do with any of the responses on this thread (unless you're not seeing everything that I can see). As to your login, are you using a shared computer? If not, just stay logged in. (I.e., don't actively log out when you leave the site.) George
  6. "Bananas" was one of Woody Allen's most famous early films. (It's about a "banana republic.") WordWolf's response, "Pineapples," indicated that he knew the real answer but was teasing. There was a thread on this forum for many years, called "The Nostalgia Thread." It tested knowledge of old TV shows and movies, but rather than just jump in with the correct answer, it was customary to chime in with teaser answers, so that many responders could show that they knew the answer. Eventually, someone would give the real answer and start the next clue. The problem is that now there are far fewer respondents, so if WW (or any of us) gives a teaser response, it could just wind up stalling the game, if no one else knows the real answer. Since you didn't know the "Bananas" answer, and Raf's not playing (at least, for now), this thread was dead in the water when WW answered "Pineapples." The same thing is happening in the "What Character..." thread. WW's "triply qualified" comment implies (to me) that he knows the answer. I'll let you in on his hint: the character's name had to be said three times in a row for him to appear. If you know who that is, go back and rescue that thread. George
  7. If there were more than three of us playing (four, if Raf can be counted), this "Nostalgia Thread" responding would be fine. But now, either Human knows the answer, or we have to wait for you to give it. PS for Human: If you look up the Nostalgia Thread (it should still be in this forum), someone would give a verbal or audio clue, and responders would give replies which showed that they knew the answer, but didn't actually give it. Eventually, someone would just decide to move the thread along, and reveal the actual answer. WW's response "Pineapples," when the actual answer was "Bananas," is an example. He's doing the same thing here, only a bit more subtly. If you know the answer, you should understand his "wink-wink" response. George
  8. Really nice episode of Supergirl this week. Far more "chick-flick"-ish than I usually go for, but it had a good backstory for Kara and Alex. Some cute "Easter eggs." Are "Smallville" and "Supergirl" in the same "universe"? And Erica Durance as "Agent Noel Neill" was another nice tip of the hat. (Reminds me of Ray Palmer in LoT remarking that Supergirl reminds him of his cousin.) George
  9. Ah. Well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT... NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY... NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK? You think I'm qualified? George
  10. It's obviously NOT "Pineapples," but I'm sure you know the actual title. What the heck -- "Bananas" You're up. George
  11. Coincidentally, Michael Caine was all of those roles (and many more). You're up! George
  12. So, are you playing the thread, of just trolling? George
  13. Two archeologists, one a woman or British royal blood, the other an American college professor, combat Nazis and the Illuminati to obtain an ancient Biblical artifact. George

  15. OK, maybe not enough of a clue. That was "Ogre," from "Revenge of the Nerds." Here's an easy one: "Walk on road, hm? Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later get squished, just like grape. Here, karate, same thing. Either you karate do "yes" or karate do "no." You karate do "guess so," [makes squish gesture] " just like grape. Understand?" George
  16. "We fell in love. I fell in love - she just stood there." "I object, your honor! This trial is a travesty. It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham. " George
