I loved the "puny god" part, but I think my favorite scene was a moment in the big battle where all of the Avengers briefly form a circle before heading back out to confront their targets. A very comic-book-y scene. George

Well, one might suggest "Mad Men" for (D), although it would be ruled out if ONLY one of the main characters could be an ad executive. I would guess "Necessary Roughness" for (A). The main character was a psychotherapist, which I think counts as a psychiatrist. Both of these were cable network shows. Were we to consider only broadcast networks? George

Like a number of shows, over the years, this show was originally broadcast on one network, and then picked up by another. The main character's designation comes from old slang, meaning to refuse service to a customer. The name of one of the main characters is never given, even after she marries the main character. George (did I do this one already?)

I would tend to agree with WW, here. For instance, the characters of NCIS appeared in an episode of JAG, but the purpose of that episode was to introduce the new series. (One of the JAG regulars, though, has recently appeared in a few episodes of NCIS: LA. Still, I wouldn't call that a spin-off.) On the other hand, I don't blame Human for using IMDb's lists. It's not as if one of us is going to peruse all of TV history to make up his own list. Anyway, it's a new year, and a FREE POST. Anyone up for it? George

I would have thought that Bonnie Parker (as in, "Bonnie and Clyde") and Laura Mars were giveaways. The others are names of her characters in her more famous movies (not necessarily with her as the star), so I doubt that running up any others, from obscure films, would help. If no one gets it by tomorrow, I'll give the answer and toss it up. George
