  1. What is the longest-running scripted TV show (excluding soap operas)? George
  2. For What It's Worth "When the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars." George
  3. Denzel Washington Glory Cary Elwes George
  4. Thanks. I was afraid I'd have to move on. Alan Ritchson stars in the TV show. He's about twice the size of Tom Cruise, who starred in the Jack Reacher movies. FYI, Ritchson stars with Henry Cavill in "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," based on a real spy escapade in WWII and possibly the inspiration for the James Bond series. George
  5. Mel Brooks? Famous character 2000-year-old man (at 97 years old, he's almost 5% of the way there). Wrote (but didn't produce) "The Producers." Married to Anne Bancroft. Did other B&W movies. George
  6. I see some places where quotation marks are missing, but that doesn't help to guess the producer's name. I'm almost tempted to google the name just to see how to retrofit your clues. George
  7. Alfred Hitchcock? Could be thought of (because of his girth) an "elephant" man. Looks like Donald Pleasence. Not hard to believe his being pompous enough to insult studio execs. Only major problem is that he died in 1980. George
  8. I'm sure that made him feel much better. George
  9. The Oscars for 1963 movies were given in 1964. Cleopatra was nominated but didn't win Best Picture. Rex Harrison was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Cleopatra, but didn't win. The nominees for Best Supporting Actor were Melvyn Douglas, Hugh Griffith, Bobby Darin, John Huston, and Nick Adams. No Roddy McDowall. Maybe your question was, Why wasn't he nominated? George
  10. (Not the first line) "But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red" George
  11. I also remember him in Blind Fury. Mourning Becomes Electra The Walls of Jericho Champion George
  12. Umm. This seems more of a general trivia question, but OK He wasn't nominated? George
  13. Kim Cattrall Star Trek 6 Iman George
  14. It was a pretty big hit. I can remember the chorus, but not the line you quoted. George
  15. I imagine it's Brad Paisley's "I'm Gonna Miss Her," which I've heard a lot more than the Playboys' song. Ooh love to hold ya, ooh love to kiss ya Ooh love I love it so Ooh love you're sweeter, sweeter than sugar Ooh love, I won't let you go George
  16. "Sure Gonna Miss Her" by Gary Lewis and the Playboys? George
  17. Sean Connery Rising Sun Wesley Snipes George
  18. Only one at a time, WW. However, since both guesses are incorrect, I'll let it slide. "If I am wrong, I'm insane... but if I'm right, it's even worse than if I was wrong." "I'll just die if I don't get this recipe. I'll just die if I don't get this recipe. I'll just die if I don't get this recipe." "I can't just call him up and say, 'Hi! I used be Joanna Ingalls. You deflowered me twelve years ago. Would you check my water?'" "I don't think that, uh, Ed ever loved me. I mean, uh, he married me because I looked right and it made a big impression on the other TV executives for his wife to look like I look. God knows he's given me things, I... I'm not complaining on that score, but... uh... he never loved me." "Joanna! How could you do a thing like that? How could you do a thing like that? How could you do a thing like that? When I was just going to give you coffee. When I was just going to give you coffee! When I was just going to give you coffee! I thought we were friends! I thought we were friends! I was just going to give you coffee! I was just going to give you coffee! I thought we were friends... I thought we were friends... I thought we were friends. How could you *do* a thing like that? I thought we were friends." George
  19. This streaming show is based on a series of 24 novels. Two movies have also been based on the novels. The star of the TV show read all of the novels in preparation for the role. The actor playing the title character in the series is about twice the size of the actor playing him in the movies. Although the movie actor is a well-known action star, I find the TV actor more believable in this role. The title character is considered by some an antihero, but I prefer the description as a knight errant. He refuses to be called a "vagrant," preferring "hobo." Traditionally, hoboes work for their sustenance and are generally law-abiding, whereas vagrants beg or steal. The star said he thought that playing the title character, a man of few words, would be a cinch in terms of dialogue. That was until he had a scene describing a case in great detail, where he had to spew out four pages of monologue in 30 seconds. That required some extra study at night. George
