  1. Interesting choice, but no. Were you thinking of Dick Gautier as the star? This actor is much better known. Unfortunately, IMDb has almost no trivia on this show. So, This not-so-well-known show starred a well-known actor famous for movies and a variety show. Although he has also voiced cartoon characters and had repeat roles in a couple of series, this was his only starring TV role. The title of the show is a play on words, also alluding to a song he performed in a very well-known movie. George
  2. No. Two movies joined by a single word. In order. I would have gotten the first one immediately, because it was a very entertaining movie. The plot and the stars would have given me the second one. George

  4. In this movie, a British lord, who thinks he's Jesus, sues an auto company because of an accident. The company's attorney is his attorney's daughter. Stars Peter O'Toole, Gene Hackman, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. George
  5. I was hoping that Laura would take some of the energy out of the Gulf, but temperatures still seem to be about 86 F. George
  6. Static, I think. Because of the counter-clockwise circulation of northern hemisphere storms, the west side of the storm is the "clean" side; the east side is the "dirty" side. I didn't get a drop of rain. (And no wind, power loss, etc.) My prayers go out, of course, to those in Louisiana. I have a nephew who just moved to New Orleans. I'm sure he's fine, but I'm sure it was quite a change for someone who has lived in the Chicago area most of his life. George
  7. As Laura approaches landfall, the storm surge seems to be the biggest problem. I'm not sure I'm even going to get rain. My local weather radar shows no rain here before at least 3 AM. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad I'm not by the Sabine Pass, but I COULD use some rain... George

  9. Laura is now a Cat 3, might strengthen to Cat 4 by landfall. Not so much like Ike as it is like Rita. The good news, such as it is, is that it's moving quickly. As the map above shows, it will be a tropical storm by tomorrow afternoon and a depression soon after that. Pearland (just south of Houston) is about 100 miles from the Sabine River. We expect tropical storm winds and heavy rain for a few hours overnight. Ideally, I won't even lose power, but loss for a day or so is easily manageable. Also, I need my fence to be intact to let the dogs out. People in LA, east of the landfall, are in for a much worse time of it. They're definitely in my prayers. George

  11. That's Professor John Keating and 2 students from "Dead Poet's Society." This might even be the scene with the photos and "Carpe Diem" in the hallway. It is, indeed. George
  12. Fine. It was Blue Swede. Go. George
  13. I knew it was Tom Cruise by looking at him. And the device in the other actor's hand looks like it could have to do with predicting the future. I'll get one up, soon. George
  14. Nope. Unless no one else gets it. The general rule for covers is, if the lyrics as given are in more than one version, any one of them is fine. If the lyrics are specific to a particular version, then that one must be given. Here's a hint: it wasn't Red Finn. George
