This show was actually written as a star vehicle for Whitney Blake and her daughter Meredith Baxter, about Blake's own real-life experiences raising her daughter. The show idea was originally shopped around to all the networks back in the sixties, but stayed in development turnaround forever until Norman Lear finally bought it in 1974, at which point, Blake and Meredith were too old to play the parts. Meredith Baxter said how hurt and betrayed she and her mom felt when the show, which was supposed to be their star vehicle, was bought by Norman Lear and cast with other actresses. All in the Family season eight, episode five, "Edith's 50th Birthday", involved a storyline where Edith battled a would-be rapist on her birthday, which was originally intended for this show. After being denied a pay raise, one of the main actors temporarily left the show. One month later, producers realized his character's importance, agreed to give him a raise, and brought him back. Name that Actor/Actress (or Role)

I have to assume that some of these are voice characters. I have trouble seeing Curtis Armstrong or Ted Knight in the same roles as Brent Spiner or Joaquin Phoenix. Going on Phoenix and Leto, let's try The Joker George -
I'm not sure that I would characterize 48 Hours as a comedy, although it had comedic elements. George

Bruce Campbell? In his autobiography ("If Chins Could Kill") he mentioned that he had great roles in minor movies and minor roles in great movies. And he's been on several TV series. George -

"Tell me where your friends are hiding." "I’ll never talk." "Is that right? Then let’s make it official." "I want it. I’ll make you a deal. If I get that thing started, it’s mine." "That’s no deal. That’s just you taking my car." "If I get it started, I keep it and I work here every day for a year. I’ll scrub the grease off the floors, okay? I will pick up and organize every scrap of paper in this place. I’ll even detail your horrible, disgusting toilets. Please. It’s my birthday." "Sorry, no deal. Because we ain’t hiring. -- It’s yours, kid. Happy birthday." "Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!" "And my toilets are gorgeous." "The darkest nights produce the brightest stars." "You kissed me! "On the cheek." "Still counts....Still counts." "Please, this is a mistake!" "Stay cool, hold your fire." "I don't want to hurt anyone." "Who called in the Air Force?" "That's not the Air Force. Run!" "They literally call themselves Decepticons. That doesn't set off any red flags?" 1: "They've broken through the front lines!" 2: "I've lost contact with the Capitol!" 3: "There's too many of them!" 4: "Stand fast!: George

I never watched "Everybody Loves Raymond." I loved his character (Jack McDermott) in "The Dream Team," but I didn't recognize the name. George -

I should amend that. Gilbert did a LOT of damage to Jamaica and the Yucatan. Its impact was much less, though, when it hit the main Mexico coast. George
-
That part of the Mexican coast is pretty sparsely populated, so even when Fermand makes landfall, it shouldn't impact too many people. When the massive Hurricane Gilbert hit 30 years ago, it went ashore about the same place. The only casualties from that one were people on a bus, evacuating, which fell into a river. George

As Raf mentioned, the disturbance in the Gulf seems to be headed off to Mexico. (I didn't realize that the picture I inserted was also a "hot" link, showing current conditions.) I know for a fact, though, that Harvey is still on folks' minds, here. George
