The backstory of the spinoff is that the character's oft-mentioned but never seen husband dies, so she moved in with her mother-in-law to start a new life. (?) A TV Movie was produced and aired in 2000, featuring two main characters but nobody else from the original show. The star of THIS show was offended that she was not invited to participate in any way; and she picketed the production during shooting days. Barbara Colby played Julie Erskine in the first three episodes of the series. She and her friend James Kiernan were murdered on July 24, 1975, not long the episode "Up for Grabs" was filmed. Guardians of the Galaxy? George

I doubt there would have been a song or a movie about him, had he NOT died young. Of course, I was never a fan. When the Green Lantern movie came out, one of my friends opined that he didn't care if it was a good movie or not, because he never liked the character. That's how I felt about "Man in the Moon." Jim Carrey might have done a great rendition of an actor I couldn't care less about. I'm not the world's biggest Jack Black fan, but at least I can name several movies he's appeared in... George

The movie titles are familiar, but I don't think I've seen any of them. Even if the actor were well-known, then, I probably wouldn't be able to guess it from these films. Should you reveal the name, I might recognize the actor. George

Indeed. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis ("Stony Curtis" to Flintstones fans) had previously co-starred with Marilyn Monroe in "Some Like It Hot." In this movie, they co-star with Natalie Wood. Rival daredevils, "The Great Leslie" (Curtis) and "Professor Fate" (Lemmon) compete in an auto race from New York to Paris. (Yes, they go over water, riding an ice floe across the Bering Strait.) Newspaper woman Maggie Dubois (Wood) enters as well, but connives a ride with Leslie when her Stanley Steamer craters. Lemmon also played Prince Frederick of Pottsdorf (and Fate, disguised as Frederick). The "Wacky Races" characters "Peter Perfect," "Dick Dastardly," and "Penelope Pitstop" were based on Leslie, Fate, and Dubois. George
