  1. Presumably, the book is an autobiography. When the author died, another had to tell about it. If it weren't for the Rodney King mention, I'd have been thinking Moses/Joshua. It might have made sense with filming in Mecca. But that's clearly not this movie. George
  2. It's not Hidalgo (about one hour too short). Not getting it. George
  3. There aren't a lot of movies that went over three hours. Gandhi was only 3 hr 11 min, and, I think, won Best Picture and Best Actor. Ben-Hur? (I don't think any of it was filmed in Mecca, but maybe.) George
  4. Hey, Suda! Have you been lurking long? We're always looking for new players! We'll have to wait for Raf for confirmation, but I suspect you're right. Have your set of clues ready! George
  5. How many people have been Morticia Addams? I don't know who did the cartoon voice, but I can only think of two live actresses. George
  6. I would have thought the last entries would give it away. George
  7. I'm a fan of CCR, but I didn't know that one. George
  8. Stargirl finished its summer run. A good story. No real surprises, but some teasers for next season. Supergirl ends its seven-year run next week, with a two-hour finale. I expect a lot of guest stars. (Well, OK. In teh preview for next week, Brainiac 5 mentions "calling for reinforcements.") George
  9. Into the Woods, it is. If you see the play and want a happy ending, leave at intermission. George
  10. I have not seen this movie, but I have seen the play. T-shirts sold in the lobby of the theater said, "It's all fun and games until the second act." I didn't understand -- until I saw the second act. (I point this out, because I don't know if the movie is broken up into acts.) According to a female star (of the movie), the set pieces used for the woods were so big and realistic that she and a male star actually got lost while on the sound stage, and had to be rescued by a production assistant. According to the same female star, that male star was extremely shy about his singing voice, and noted that he would hold back during rehearsals. She only heard his actual singing voice when she was eating lunch in the recording studio. She was in a room by herself and she heard a "beautiful, crooning voice" coming from the hallway, but she assumed that it was a singer from a different project, since multiple records were being recorded in the studio. She then noticed that the singing wasn't stopping, so she poked her head out to see who it was. To her surprise, she discovered that it was the male star, who didn't know that there was anybody else there. George
  11. Ralph Fiennes Quiz Show John Turturro George
  12. The main cast of this show (excluding the star) included Arsenio Hall Kelly Hu Tammy Lauren Louis Mandylor Tom Wright Gretchen Egolf (The first two would have given it away for me, but then I watched this (relatively) short-lived series regularly.) The star of the show, Sammo Hung, wasn't particularly proficient in English, so he had fewer lines than most of the co-stars. The show had a cross-over with Walker, Texas Ranger. George
  13. This got left behind. To continue Madge Gorland Polly Deutsch Maerose Prizzi Clara Allen Lilly Dillon Marcia Fox Etheline Tenenbaum Gwyneth Harridan Cynthia Keener Calamity Jane Morticia Addams Bonnie Fox George
  14. Fair enough. This one has so many "instant winners" that I'll start with three that are a LITTLE less obvious. Dreamgirls Tower Heist The Distinguished Gentleman George
  15. GREAT LoT episode last night! Gideon has become corporeal but lost her memory. Astra and Spooner go into her mind to help and run across: Jefferson Jackson Martin Stein Carter Hall Ray Palmer Nora Darhk Leonard Snart a more "old school" Sara Lance, and Rip Hunter I think it's great that they could get the band back together for this episode. George
  16. That was one of those "Duhhh!" things. Of course, I suppose calling them "extra-canonical" back then, when the average reader was a "tween" (comics didn't cost $4+ back then), might have been a bit pompous. There were dozens of "Superman marries Lois (or Lana)" stories in the Superman titles, and Alfred wrote several "Batman II and Robin II" stories (Batman II was grown up Dick Grayson; Robin II was Bruce Wayne's son. The mother was never shown, but Robin's red hair might have implied Vicki Vale...) So, trivia question: what is the back story to Elliot Maggin's use of the exclamation point in his name? George
  17. Raf was telling me in a round about way that Heat was not the answer. George
  18. What? No Zoolander or Meet the Parents? Ben Stiller George
  19. Really? Bryce Dallas Howard Terminator: Salvation Christian Bale George
