    My apologies

Don't worry about mine. Just read the one I sent to you. :)--> Rick
  2. When the song Drift Away was popular (the original by Dobie Grey, not the remake by whoever it was) I used to think he was saying "Give me the Beach Boys, and free my soul". Always wondered why he was singing about the Beach Boys. --> Rick
  3. I agree with those posters who feel that legal or not, this was information that should be made known. And, thank you JustThinking for starting the thread. Rick
  4. Understood, Abi. Just making sure people know I'm just the messenger! :)--> Rick
  5. What I posted was information that was related to me by another individual, who didn't want they're name associated with the incident. As far as the veracity of the illegal claim, I posted what I was told by this person, who I truely believe thought it to be illegal at the time. Rick
  6. Well, you know my address. When you fly over Ohio, tell the pilot to drop down low so you can wave at me. :D--> Rick
  7. You obviously don't work in the computer business. :D--> Welcome! Rick
  8. I have never had a close encounter of any kind, but I would not be so popmous as to say that anyone who says they DID is a druggie or a psycho. Rick
  9. Hey, wait a minute! That patent medicine had some damn good drugs in it. :)--> (sorry, just had to. Carry on!) Rick
  10. I don't know how well this works, but I've heard about it. Never used it myself so I can't give any guarantees, but check this link about using a robots.txt file. http://www.searchengineworld.com/robots/robots_tutorial.htm Rick
  11. Well, you could use a datbase solution where each persons name has a hyperlink beside it that says email. Click the link, and it returns the record with the email address. You would have to use asp or php though. ***EDIT*** Sorry, you want to use pdf. I forgot about that. Rick
  12. Forgot to mention, you can backup and all your existing email and address books also. The way to do it depends on what version of Outlook, or Outlook Express you are using. Rick
  13. Like Steve said, install all your software on the new computer. Then, you can backup all your data on to the new 160 gig external drive, and from there, copy it to wherever it's needed on your c drive. That should get you started, anyway! Rick
  14. Safest thing to do is make the list of email addresses an image. Then insert the image into your document. Rick
  15. You mean when I upgraded to outlook 2003 I went to all that trouble for nothing? :)--> Rick
  16. With Outlook, you can add a registry entry that will minimize it to the system tray. That way, it is still open, and you will hear notifications, but it will not show up as a button on your task bar. Go to http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/955/ for instructions. Rick
  17. If you think you have bad neighbors, read some of THESE stories. You can even post your own "annoying neighbor" story, if you like! Rick
  18. After I posted the information about IP addresses, someone contacted me via Private Messages. The person told me that they had sent a letter to HQ about doctrinal errors at one time. The letter was sent anonymously but this person used the Pitney-Bowes machine at work to send it. PB machines have a unique code for each customer which is supposed to be confidential. The "powers that be" at HQ somehow managed to use that information to trace it back to the the sender's place of employment. There is no way they could have done so legally without a court order, so it would seem the information was obtained in an illegal manner. So I guess this is one example that shows that they WILL use any means necessary, legal or not, if they want to find information about someone. The person who shared this information with me has asked me not to associate thier name with this, and I will respect that wish. But I thought this was something that should be posted for everone's benefit. If you have any questions, post them here and I will see if the person this happend to will give me answers to post via private topic. Rick
  19. Mike, my answer was to the question... "Does this mean the WayGB can tell the names of anyone who has visited the site?" The answer is "No". I thought I stated my answer pretty well. It's obvious that if you are in a REAL small town, and someone at HQ knows you and where you live that they could make assumptions. That wasn't the question asked, however. As far as static ip's go, any provider can give you a static ip address, usually at an additional cost. DSL and cable ip addresses can stay the same for a long time, but aren't really static as they CAN and DO change, just not often. With cable access, you usually have to subscribe to business class to get a static ip which is a lot more expensive than regular access, although you get more perks, like being guaranteed a certain amount of bandwidth. OK, now I've really derailed the thread. :)--> Rick
  20. Does this mean the WayGB can tell the names of anyone who has visited the site? JT No, it doesn't. When you connect to the internet, you are assigned an ip address from a pool of addresses. You get a new ip address each time you connect. You CAN ask for what is called a static ip address, in which case, your ip address is always the same. Even with a static ip address though, the only thing they could trace you back to is the server at your isp. To get your name and any personal information, they would have to request the isp to go through thier records and determine who was assigned that ip address at a specific time, and most isp's will not do that without a court order. 23. Well Linda, since the radio station wouldn't play it for ya here you go! THE HANUKKAH SONG. And for CoolWaters, here is SEASON OF THE WITCH, although I prefer the Vanilla Fudge version myself. :)--> Rick
  24. HERE is a low quality wav of Atlantis. If you want the mp3, let me know. Rick
