Al Hirt is absolutely right Sudo! I have another picture to post for Kathy, but will have to do it later today. Rick
-
ChattyKathy asked me to post this. Her and her husband back in thier Hippy daze. :)--> I won't say his name cause I didn't ask if I could, but she can name him if she wants to.
-
OK Ted, I got 2 different versions of Saints here and I just bet your gonna know the artist in one of them. But how about the other one? :)--> (This is open to anyone else too...not just Ted.:)-->) Click and HERE Rick

I'll try to record some this weekend mstar. Rick

ChattyKathy has asked me to post this for her. It is from Ted's CD. Click HERE for Bridging The Canyon. It's 4 meg, so if you have a slow connection, it may take a while to start. I will try to convert it to a smaller wave file later today. Rick

Oh, and by the way, thanks for the compliment! Rick

Hi Cowgirl A very cheap one. :)--> A Rogue. Didn't want to spend a lot of money since I had never played one before. But I might get a better one. Right now I'm really into the resonator. I play more blues than anything else, but every time I pick up the resonator, this cool bluegrass stuff just seems to come out. :)--> Rick

Thought I'd post this also. This is my newest instrument. This picture doesn't do it justice though. It's a Dean Resonator, chrome body, and I can't even begin to describe how beautiful the tone is. I alternate between brass and glass slides, depending on the type of music. Rick

OK, for better or worse, I'm gonna post this. I just bought a mandolin this year. Have been playing guitar since 1971, KB since 77 and can pretty much play any stringed instrument. Just a knack I guess. But anyway, my second day with the mandolin, I was looking for a Zepplin-ish kind of tune and came up with THIS. Now I'm sure ya'll are much better than me on Mandolin, but before you laugh too much, keep in mind, this was my second day of working with mandolin. :)--> Rick

Oh, and George was right on! Percy Faith and his Orchastra! Rick
-
Like I said, it's just such a beautiful song, isn't it! Worthy of a nostalgia post, I think. :)--> Rick
-
I'm posting this one, not so much for people to guess about cause I bet everyone here will recognize it, but just cause I think it's such a damn beautiful tune! Click HERE and see if you can tell me not only what the movie was, but also the name of the artist! Rick
-
Interesting, Man of Many Names! Kathy...that sounds strangely familiar. :D--> Rick
-
If ya ask Sudo really nicely, he has a program he might be willing to send you that will "degrade" the quality and make the file sizes smaller. Some of us use it on the nostalgia thread and it works really well...you just have to play with it a bit to get the right balance between quality and size. I no longer have the installation files so I can't send it myself. Rick

OK, gonna show my ignorance. I have no idea who Marni Nixon is. But as George said, I thought Julie Andrews did ALL her own singing. Rick

Magnets can not harm a CD because CD's are not magnetic media. The laser reads pits burned into the disc. If you ever had to uninstall AOL back in the win '95 day's, you would understand why some of us would call it a virus. :)--> It used it's own proprietary winsock and wasn't "friendly" bout restoring the original when you uninstalled it. Long Gone, thank you for bringing that up. That is EXACTLY what she is doing. Rascal, calling me a "damned liar" is, I belive a personal attack. I may have been in error as I guess you didn't directly post any jabs to Alan about his misspelling. But, since you started the personal attack, I belive I will call YOU a damned liar. I never said once that you approved of such tactics. I said I didn't see you jumping to his defense. As far as apologizing, It will be a cold day in hell before I apologize to a bully like you. I was mistaken...you did not make jabs at Alan. But see, your words were said in a bullying way, and you will not "bully" an apology out of me. You spewed: Just what the hell's up with that anyway? That little "not that I'd expect any" makes it sound like you know something about me when you don't know jack **** about me. Nice little tactic Rascal...make people think you know me and that I'm not man enough to make an apology. Wow, your a real piece of work. Now this thread is not about you, nor is it about me so I am not going to post anymore to you here. Go ahead, have the last word. As I have seen in the past, this will continue till you get it so I'm done. Have fun!
-
And by the way, why don't you address the REST of what I posted instead of the one line where I corrected your spelling? So when it's your thread, by golly it has to stay on topic, but you can't be courteous to someone else who want's to keep a thread THEY started on topic? Oh, and by the way, the word is spelled appreciated.
-
But it was ok for you and your buddies to make fun of Alan for misspelling and misusing words. Didn't see ya jumping to his defense when that was going on. You are a bully rascal. And I am honestly just sick and tired of your crap so I called you on it. Too bad you didn't have enough class to just apologize to laleo and bow out of this thread.
-
Rascal, on your praising or cursing thread, some people were posting things you didn't agree with. It was so important to you to keep the thread on topic in fact, that you posted the following to those posters who "helped" you keep it on topic: So when it's your thread, by golly it has to stay on topic, but you can't be courteous to someone else who want's to keep a thread THEY started on topic? Oh, and by the way, the word is spelled appreciated.
-
Rascal, are you really that dense? Among other things, Laleo said in the opening post to this thread: Or is common courtesy something you can't comprehend?

Drove my chevy to the levy but it was cold and lonly in the deep dark night so, realizing that all the glitters is not gold, I climbed the stairway to the restaurant in time to hear Alice say Oh won't you come with me, baby take my hand so I like, said, well, that's america.

My mind went numb just THINKING about that one!

Well, with the direction the conversation is going, I thought THIS song would be appropriate. Rick
