All the hype and commitment is to the organization and none of it is to the underlying Word of God, the overall body of Christ, or anything related to building virtue - it is all compliance exercises - complying with people who do not speak for God in any sense of the word.

From a pure finance perspective this is a position arising from the demand for PLAF in 3rd world countries. While the abundant sharing stays within the same countries locally the way the USA governing org stays relevant is by using their printing press to crank out sets of the collaterals in French and Spanish. These can be sold to 3rd world countries. Besides the class fees themselves the 2nd most profitable good they sell is the books they print themselves. No aspect of that goes to publishers, editors, etc. This new board position oversees that aspect of the business I would imagine.

Meanwhile you witness major corporations many times the size of TWI completely reinventing themselves within a couple of years. You know the only thing worse than Plaffy? Second hand translated Plaffy. I mean can they truly get the same level of isolation and control? Can the victim blaming truly be set properly? How are the students really going to grasp it’s the fear in that woman’s heart that killed her kid? But many poorer countries have more superstitious cultures where stories spread like wildfire and there is less critical thinking. When your cult is fading focus on 3rd world countries.

So I’m still a bit confused here. God has a budget? Sooooo many questions. I mean usually corporate departments have budgets to represent their allocation of the annual income. So does God set and approve the budget limits? How does that conversation look? “Yo God need that budget increase”. “Switches hats. Ok I can approve that increase. We will take it out of St Peter’s pearly gates account”. Does God use instant picture type software in His mind? Does God track ROI with budgets? Blind man healing results in 1421 conversions? If God uses Budget for rental cars, does it REALLY cost less?

Another good personal anecdote with experience with TWI. This one delved into the strange customs and treatment of children. There was some evidence of abnormal types of shows of affection. Being raised in TWI and attending all the children’s fellowship and other communal oversight culture aspects can be downright terrorizing to a kid. The Family Corps was a large commune type living where everyone applied discipline to everyone else’s kids. This carried out to the practices on the field where they would behave the same way. I know few to no children raised in this cult who have done anything other than seeking the first exit door available to them. All of this was driven by the Stanford Prison Experiment type behavior with leaders and followers. The Corps was a experiment of control like this. There was communal use of corporate punishment with rovers beating kids. The leaders thought of none of these repercussions but doubled down on their spirituality and “God told me” types of answers in the face of legitimate concerns and criticism. If you were a kid raised in TWI I will pray for you. Mine got out before their minds matured so just have a little PTSD from treatment as opposed to being hooked by the cults BS logic and trapped for life or until awakening.

Your last sentence seems to be a sticking point for all of the splinter groups. They can’t seem to admit “I was wrong” pursuing the TWI cult and its goals and idolatry. Any religion should accomplish the goal of helping the individual to form the best possible version of themselves with respect to developing virtue. In the TWI cult and splinter cults all the effort goes in to propping up the leaders as larger than life as opposed to developing virtue as an individual. It is pretty clear when you examine facts Wierwille was a narcissistic preacher with a sex and alcohol problem who founded a cult of personality as opposed to being de frocked by his denominations slow moving judicial arm for attacking their missionary work and having an affair with his secretary. The facts and human behavior patterns are undeniable. Whereas imagined snowstorms on gas pumps are certainly called into question. I guess there was a part of me that believed the snowstorm story and so I stuck it out with the group for a few decades. But the cognitive dissonance adds up over time and people do not buy the snake oil after a time. Truth comes out. Despite all the whitewash effort which actually represents a bulk of their activity. Wierwilles work is substandard and shallow. It reminds me of someone trying to construct a philosophy of living straight from Dr. Seuss. I don’t like green eggs and ham. I do not like them Sam I am. Obviously I’m filled with hate for green eggs and ham and Dr Seuss. That’s why these cult members are like they are asleep. The mind just can’t wake up to anything outside of grooved idolatry.

The obedience factor is interesting. Scriptures equate “keeping” commandments with loving God. Not “obeying” commandments. Keeping would involve the understanding and internalizing of the teachings to keep them in light of remembering and living them. Obeying is more of a do what I say communication.
