  1. -D How'd I do? (Be gentle - this is my first time...) (Sorry - I don't know the artist...)
  2. Thank you for not running off into the night, Freud. I appreciate that you've come back to post with this rackus group. They certainly can get passionate about things... And thank you Jung, for also posting. I've never doubted for a moment that Freud's posts were legit. Actually, I expected something like this to come up on the forum a long time ago because Craig works, has children, etc. - someone, somewhere would cross his path and make the connection of him to TWI. I can imagine how you felt when you realized who he really was... But I'm curious - What did you think when you discovered this information? Do you plan on ever discussing it with him? (My questions are for Freud and Jung - whomever wishes to respond.) Thanks again - it's certainly given us posters on this board a lot to think about.
  3. This is one of the best threads of it's kind I've seen in a long time. I get sick of the squabbles, petty comments, and lack of respect I see on the board from time to time. But at the same time I remember what it was like to not have the freedom to disagree, or make any controversal comment at all. Like Linda Z., I have to be somewhere soon, but want you to know that I appreciate what you're saying here and think MANY could benefit from it, if they chose to read it and consider it. Selah.
  4. All y'all should take a look at this thread: http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=9824 Is this a derailment? You bet! But will it possibly help with what's going on in this thread? Yuppers!
  5. I had posted this in the Reading Room forum, but someone suggested I should also post it here. I'm going to just put a link here for you to read because there's already some suggestions/answers on the thread: http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=9811 Thanks!
  6. Brilliant! Aerosmith - Mama Kin Your turn!
  7. Said, you’re bald as an egg when you’re eighteen Workin’ for your dad is just a drag
  8. I got a G5 - it's hubby's actually - but it's a good little 'puter. Never considered using it for this, but that's because I'm mostly a PC person.... We may even have Final Cut Pro on it - it came with a bunch of stuff on it because we got it second hand. Hmmmm.....
  9. When I introduce you, I'm gonna say, "This is a friend of mine." That means you're a connected guy. Now if I said instead, this is a friend of ours that would mean you a made guy. A Capiche? Hint: This ain't no girl movie.
  10. Chas just landed a couple of sweet gigs as the viedographer of the school boards (our town has two of them!) and the town selectmen meetings. I'm using the school's Sony Handycam for the job. It's a nice little camera - it records on the mini-DV tapes. I want to be able to edit it on my computer. Does anyone here do that? What software do you use? How involved do you get with it (like special effects, voice overs, etc.) I'm having fun, but I'm ready to take it to the next level. Thanks!
  11. Ira Hayes (excuse the spelling) by Johnny Cash (I grew up listening to this - and I'm probably the only 30-something who's into Johnny Horton, as a result of this...) (Parents can be a bad influence sometimes...)
  12. Movie: Working Girl Actress: Melanie Griffith (Wasn't this on another thread around here somewhere...?)
  13. Allen - I've seen your lovely wife - she'd make a preacher kick out a stained glass window! :)
  14. Do you know WHY he joined the KKK? Like, did he do it because it was an obligation in his family, for example, or perhaps he didn't know it was the KKK.... (don't laugh...) My grandfather, who was the kindest, most caring, and excepting person in the world, accidentally joined the KKK. He was a Mason, Odd Fellow, etc., and it was in the 1950's when fraternies were popular. It was also in Maine, near Lewiston/Auburn area. Now, I know Chef will know this, but back then, and even until the mid-80's, it was very rare to see a black person in that area - or any other race. It's as white as it gets! Ayah! So, my grandfather got into this fraternity, who never identified itself properly and didn't really spout the racial slurs, etc., that you'd expect to hear. It was a couple of months before he figured it out and confronted them. Of course he left right away - but he already had the tattoo marking they use - I think it's like three dots between the thumb and index finger. So, I think if you have more information on his motive for joining and his reason(s) for leaving, that might be of help.... (And, no offence - I mean this in a kind way... I have a lot of respcect for you... ) How would you, likewise, explain how you were in a cult that discredits the Holocaust?
  15. C'mon over! I just picked up the leg of lamb today from the meat market - almost 12lb. I'm going to pack it with tons of garlic cloves, fresh oregano and thyme, rub olive oil and Greek seasoning over the outside, and let it roast until it's med-rare... surrounded by potatoes coated with olive oil and tomato sauce, that will soak up the juices.... should be good!
  16. Porn is part of what brought down my first marriage. This thread hits a serious nerve for me. My first husband would often rent movies while I was at work. He would watch them and return them before I got home from work. I worked in retail management and often worked until 9:30-10PM at night - several nights a week. We were always on a tight budget, and often would come up short before payday. There would always be $10-20 I couldn't account for in expenses, but figured it was extra gas in the truck, or something of the sort - he couldn't always give me exact amounts. I didn't dare press the issue because I was scared of him. It was when we were on staff at HQ, and Rev. T*0rpe confonted him, that the truth came out. I felt so stupid for not knowing. It wasn't just porn - it was gay porn. He had a double secret and I felt so nieve and out of touch for never putting it all together. It was like I had blinders on for years. It was embarassing, depressing, and scarey - and that was just the tip of that iceburg. I had noticed a change in his behavior over the years, as it seemed more effeminate, but thought I was thinking evil when I noted he was acting more femminine than I was (and Chas is pretty girly-girl...) but I didn't know how badly I was being decieved. Never again. Porn is something I DO NOT allow in my house today. It's not an option. I drew a line in the sand from the beginning about it and don't believe it's "just a guy thing". It's the ultimate ultimatum, in my book. To me, what happens between your ears is as important and real as what could or does happen in the flesh. Porn is like cheating on a spouse, or significant other - you just don't do it. It's sin. Period.

Bluzeman - Hubby had a Fender Texas Special Strat - had more pickups that a singles' bar! He had problems with it - the finger board started to peel. He took it to a dealer to see what they could do about - they sat on it for 3 months and the Fender rep never offered to do squat about it. To make peace, the dealer made him a great trade on the Telecaster - at least it was a happy ending. Personally, I liked the sound of the TX better - the Telecaster doesn't do it for me, really. It's got a fat sound, but just isn't the same.... JCHEV - Welcome! Good pics! That Line 6 looks like a Strat knock-off - like something Ibanez would have done a few year back! Sweet little ax. I don't get the Parker Fly - that horn is a little weird looking, in my opinion. But I guess it's Prince's fav ax, isn't it? And he's got a good sound - he can play a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g and e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!
  18. Christos anesti! - Alithos anesti! We celebrated Easter yesterday with my family, which is English/Welsh. Next Sunday, we will celebrate Pascha (Greek Orthodox Easter) with hubby's family. This week is the Holy Week following Palm Sunday (which was yesterday for the Greek Orthodox religion.) Personally, I like how the Greeks celebrate Pascha. They're more into the "He Is Risen!" thing - it's bigger than Christmas to them. Of course, we're having a big feast here at our house - lamb, Greek potatoes, asparagas, salad, rosemary carrots, ouzo, bakalava, and red eggs. I think hubby is going to the midnight liturgy - I've never been because of the kids. We don't have anything to do with the Easter Bunny or any of that - no commercialism (but the kids do get candy). I like the absence of some of that stuff, because I think it only confuses kids and takes away from the real reason for the day. If you want to know more - I think Bluzman asked what it was - here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascha
  19. Freud, thank you for posting and sharing about your encounters with this man. I certainly understand and respect your reasons for keeping confidentiality standards. You strike me as someone who is probably a clinical pastoral counselor, or the like. It's not easy to think about this man as being under-employed, having humuility, or even feeling broken about his situation. The LCM I knew wore $$$$ Armani suits, screamed "teachings", and demanded 101% loyality to him and TWI. He boasted that he could easily run any Fortune 500 Company. He lived in a home that most of us could only dream about, with free housekeeping and nanny service 24/7. People had to stand when he walked in the room - even those who were also ordained, as he was THE MAN of GOD. This man sent out a picture of himself dressed as Joshua, as a Christmas present to the ministry's college alumni, because he thought he brought the ministry to "The Promised Land." He made decisions about peoples' lives that lead to abortions, divorces, children walking away from their dying parents, and engaged couples breaking up - all because he thought he knew "what was best" for them "according to the Word." The slight discomfort he is experiencing as a "broken man" is nothing compared to the utter pain he has caused people. Whether it be the posters here, those who are still "in" TWI, who are still under some of the madates he set up that the ministry still subscribes to, he caused much more pain than he will probably ever realize. In reading your posts it struck me that LCM was maybe reaching out for help. I certainly hope so, but he really needed it a long, long, time ago. Part of me feels that he was a monster and knowingly abused the power that was so easily handed to him. I feel that he may now be reaching for help, but perhaps he is hindered because of his own teachings about how not to look for help outside of the Household (ministry) because you don't need to pay someone to be your friend. Either way, I feel he is now where he needs to be, for the most part, although I think some time behind bars wouldn't have hurt him any. I hope he has a good, long, dose of how it feels to be brought to nothing - because many of us, myself included, were broght to that level because of him and his ministry.
  20. What's interesting about how they "make the Present Truth" their own, is how they never seem to go any deeper with the Word than what has already been done. It's always more of the same, regurgitated. Nothing is really "worked" - it's just passed over again and again. Belle pointed out how their research is error-ridden. Since they "review" it so much, don't you think they'd find some of those errors? But they wouldn't dare make an improvement on a single article, chapter from a book, or class because since they consider their leaders to be infallable, thus, the leaders' research is perfect, as well. Far be it from them to ever admit something wasn't as perfect as they thought. Of course, this is perfectly logical for them. Don't you remember the saying about, "If leadership suggests it, it's as good as a commandment from God!" I wouldn't be a bit suprised if Session One of the new class has: The Word of TWI is The Will of TWI (Followed by a slide that says, "God who?")
  21. The wholesale cost of the accessories with the laptop you describe is probably around $20 - don't bother with the accessories. I'm not crazy about all the wireless stuff - keyboards and mouse, etc. and speakers are something I think you have to listen to and pick out for yourself. (Besides - why have the portability of a laptop if you're going to bog it down with a ton of accessories.) (Never buy bundles - it doesn't save money because the accessories are almost always crap!) The HP6000, if it's true to HP standards, should have an expansion slot. You might want to weigh the cost of adding some memory to it. I've had the best luck with The Geek Squad at Best Buy for that. They recently replaced my power supply in my HP Pavilion a530n with one at double the capasity of the old one (and twice the price of the one they probably should have used) while I waited (read: shopped!). They can give estimates, and have never missed a deadline for me.... So, you might want to haul your old HP in, since you say you're a cheep SOB (your words, basically) and see what you can get. If anything, I think you'll see laptops become even more affordable in the meantime - give it a year. I can't believe how inexpensive these things have become! Also - check out Tiger Direct - here's a link to a page of laptops: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Ca...7&CMP=ILC-FPM01 I'd get an inexpensive one, but make sure you can upgrade the memory on it - then just buy the memory separate and have it installed. For example you could get a 256 megs of memory in the machine, and then buy another 256 megs or more of memory for less than $50, installed. So, you could have the specs of a $600 machine for just $499 - or less. p.s. I'd stay away from Dell and HP for a laptop - they make good desktop units, but the lapstops aren't the most durable - IBM Thinkpads have all the kudos in those departments.
  22. Thanks for the notes - and the encouragement. Our oldest son seemed so much easier to feed at this stage - but we didn't do the jar baby food thing with him. The only reason I did it with Dre is because my mom really pushed about it. I sort of regret it now, because I wonder if we didn't condition him to not like any other textures or to try anything that isn't orange (ever notice how all baby food is orange?) I'm not really freaked out about this - the kid weighs 30 lbs. at 14 months old - he's a moose. It's really more frustration than anything else. I think he'll grow out of it - even if it is an actual disorder. It could also be more of an adversion thing, as someone said. I have that with some things - like grits. I just about gag thinking about grits - ew! So, perhaps it's something as simple as that.... but that doesn't mean this problem will go away that easily, either. I just figure someone, somewhere, has been through this -- and some of you have in different ways - so it's helpful to get information... I'm certainly open to ideas. It seems like what worked for the first one, doesn't work for the second one... I did look up about the eating fluff thing and there's studies where they believe it's kids with anemia who practice it more. Interesting! It's also a senses thing - they like the feel, so they put it in their mouths - like babies do with everything they find. I think this is more Dre's case. Dre ruined a car seat by yanking the padding out of the lining - industrious little tyke ripped it clean down to the fabric binding!
  23. Please enlighten me... what religion? Any that calls for silence in the home works for me! Call me an instant member!
  24. I knew someone who hunted with VPW on several occasions over many years and complained about how badly VPW's dogs behaved - especially Tick! (Besides, VPW didn't really train his own dogs - he had WC to kennel them and keep them for him!) Again, a lot of preachin' and no practice!
