Thank you, Paw. Many of you who post here may know this, but I know there's some new posters here so I'll tell the story again - My husband and I met via Waydale in 2000. He was posting under the handle of Mathman. There was a thread that came up about Momentus, which you may know, is a hot topic around here about every six months. He had a decent expereince - it changed his life for the better in some ways. He made the mistake of posting about it and promptly got fried by several posters who ganged up on him, basically. He received some very threatening and vicious emails from posters, etc. It certainly didn't scare him, but he basically said, "Why bother?! They have their minds made up and I can't even share my opinion - if I wanted close-mindedness, I'd have stayed in TWI!" He wasn't selling Momentus or telling anyone they should take it - only what his personal experience was. He has only posted a couple of times since then. Can you blame him? Heck no, I can't. NO ONE deserves to be treated in that manner. But he still needs to talk about his TWI experience and he was robbed of that - it was spoiled for him. I've often said this on other threads where there were disagreements and misunderstandings but due to the nature of THIS medium, which is processed by reading only, that there is often things such as; one's tone of voice, gestures, facial expressions, etc., that we're used to seeing/feeling/hearing in a regular casual conversation missing. I think that some posters forget how their written words only may come across - perhaps they fail to proof read their posts. Perhaps they need to "cool off" before posting so their point isn't lost by their complex emotions. Thanks again, Paw.

Just a quick one about how kids try to express themselves with a limited vocabulary... Kristopher was sitting at the kitchen bar last week, eating his breakfast. "Mommee! My legs feel funny!" he said. "What do you mean?" I asked. "How do they feel?" (He thought and chewed for a moment...) "They feel sparkle-ly," he said. I knew exactly what he was saying - they were asleep - his made-up word 'sparkle-ly' fit perfectly!

Called a Heretic and a Non Christian for saying JC Not God
ChasUFarley replied to JWitt's topic in About The Way
If the soultuion involves YOU changing YOUR mind - then don't bother. Go church hunting. It took you long enough to get back to a place where you are wanting more growth in your spiritual life - but know what you know - if you know what I mean. Don't compromise yourself. Sounds like the youth pastor is rather full of himself. He owes you and your family an apology, for starters. I thought I'd found a decent church - they were trinitarian, but didn't shove it down your throat. I could deal with it but still cringed at times when they wrongly divided the Word. Then the pastor got canned for plagerism - oh, boy! The interim pastor is very trinitarian - he does shove it down your throat. That's when Chas went *poof* from that church. Moral of the story: Even within the same denomination there are various degrees of zealous twits - some who drink the Kool Aid, and others who don't... it's up to you to decide what you can put up with. But stay true to you. And welcome! -
Mr. Lingo - a word fitly spoken in this thread, TIME! It takes time to get past things - to move on. We're human. We don't have perfectly renewed minds. It takes a lot of work sometimes to just let things be and to stop rehashing them mentally, thinking it may change something. Some people have great coping skills and can seem to move easily though life. Other people need to analyze situations and encounters - they look at many angles, and sometimes even hold onto things to long. No one can or should measure their coping capibilities against another person's - it's not fair or honest. I think the bigger picture of this "Get Over It" thread is more, what's healthy and what isn't healthy - when should you let go because it's the right time - or are you letting bitterness, or other negitives comsume you? Most certainly, these are personal decisions that someone must make on their own - and sometimes perhaps a spouse, close friend, or relative can help them see they are dwelling on the past TOO much - like in your incident - and they will learn to let it go. I still say that when someone - a stranger, a drive-by poster, a casual aquaintance, etc. - just blurts it out, "oh, get over it already!" - it's still the laziest counciling job there is - it's just immature and heartless. I always think back to a teaching where someone said, "God expects us to forgive. He doesn't command us to forget because it's impossible to do." That's probably one of the healthier things I gleaned from my time in TWI.

$10 says Ms. Pickler will be seen in Nashville soon... ...and I bet Paris is next to go... she's too... too.... too.... perky. Paris is so perky that she makes Katie Couric look as gloomy and *%^#*ed off as Hillary Clinton... Paris is like a little wind-up doll who sings, has a cute smile, and toddles off stage - whoo hoo. Yep, she shouldn't get too comfortable...

Wordwolf... kids' movies become a blur after a while... for all I know there's a Shrek 3, Toy Story 5, and Another Incredible Journey.... --------------- Yeah. The funny thing is - on the outside, I was an honest man, straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook.

Shrek? This sounds like Donkey's rants... (love Donkey!) "Everyone loves parfets!"

I hope it's not too late, but... Slide 5 - bullets should end with question marks Slide 11 - can you shade your Excel cells in white so it shows up on the slide? Or could you place a white box under the Excel grid - the black text on the blue background is a little hard to see... Slide 24 - move the connecting line that is attached now to the bottom of the last text box ("I then removed the state zip code") and attach the end of that connecting line to the TOP of that text box. Slide 25 - there's some blue handwritten script in there - can't read it - you might want to remove it. Looks good - nice and clean - easy to read - and not a bunch of flippy animation! :)

Tom - Tab can be tricky. There's lots of places on the net to get it for free where people have intrepreted their version of it. Sometimes it's good - sometimes it just sucks eggs. The thing I hate about bad tab, is that some twit has copied it, changed it a little, and reposted it as "not as bad as it was" tab. You can print off ten versions of the same song and not really be on the mark, still! BUT if you get mags like Guitar World, you will always get good tab in them - not the guesswork you may find on line...

That's a decent price - a gig would have been over $100 just a year ago... (I remember when a gig of memory was $1K not that long ago - I had to get a storage drive for my Mac when I was working as a graphic designer - it was a ton of money, and I felt like a hot shot with that memory... now I have 200 gigs in my crap PC!) I know some people are using them to store MP3 files on them. I use them for work to store the most recent version the data bases I design on them - lots of tables, hyperlinks, etc. - so there's lots of memory needed. I've also been using my iPod for this, and recently backed up my entire computer to it just before the power supply pooped out (I knew it was dying, so I'm really glad I did it!) So, it really depends on your needs and what you'll be using them for. Personally, I'm glad I paid the $150 I did for my 20 gig iPod and think it was better money spent than on another flash, but that's just me.... (I also love having the music at the tip of my fingers whenever I want!)

You are correct! (Kristopher, my 4 year old, has made up a version of that about the baby... "woe-hoe fat baby, bam ba lam / woe-hoe fat baby, bam ba lam fat baby got fat, bam ba lam / he's bigger than the cat, bam ba lam..." Yeah... we're warping the kids early on!)

Because what's going on here is a heck of a lot more interesting than anything they're teaching about that week!

I hear what you're saying, sweet sister. You've been through A LOT and you have a lot to share. Your sharing helps you and others learn, grow, forgive, etc. - sometimes you have no idea the impact you make. Sometimes you wonder why you continue to post on, other than the social reasons, because maybe you don't hear from anyone or connect with anyone - then there's that thread that just explodes and you get inspired all over again. You certainly have the right to have those words about "get over it" strike a nerve. No doubt about it. But the interesting thing I've seen, as someone who's been posting now since 1999, is that I am "getting over it" in some ways. Maybe there's less "Way brain", maybe I'm less angry, maybe I'm less insecure about my past - whatever - but there's still something to be said. There's still connections to be made. But it's not as urgent as it used to be. I don't know if this makes sense... but maybe it's because I've seen so many of these "get over it" threads on Waydale and Grease Spot - they don't really bother me anymore. I think what may (and please forgive me if I'm wrong - this isn't a judgement) upset you is that someone, once again, is telling you where you should be in your life and how you should be arrive there, etc. Does that sound about right? And, you've been there before - LCM was on a "get it over" rant back in the 90's - but SO WHAT? Is it really that poster's business where you are in your spritual or emotional life? In my opinion, just making a blanket statement of "get over it" is a lazy way to council people. It's three easy words that are simple to say and simple to understand and coming out of a simple mind!

Guitar Shows.... Have you been to any? Is it worth it? Or is it a bunch of high-priced used gear? We signed up with a web site that does them - they were in MA just a few weeks ago, and will be returning shortly... I would love to go to one, but I'm probably the best window shopper you'll ever meet. I can walk away from anything. Hubby, on the other hand, is like a drunken sailor on payday! I know he'd be dangerous at a show. This is what he really wants:

Hey, Robi! Long-time, no-see! Glad to see you've come up for air... This isn't an answer to your question (sorry) - but have you considered becoming an auditor for medical insurance companies (the dark side!). I have a friend who's an RN and got sorta burnt out. She went into auditing and makes great $$$ working for a company that's hired by medical insurance companies to audit itemized bills. She gets a pecent of whatever monies she recovers that the insurnace company paid out to the hospital - she does very well! Just a thought...

Your stories of finding the right church for you.
ChasUFarley replied to Sunnyfla's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
(I'm tired, so I'll get to the point...) Looked for a church, fellowship, whatever. Tried on a couple of duds. (Either the members all had blue hair, or were all closely related.... ) Finally... Joined a local community church. Nice people. Good Sunday School program - Kristopher (4 years old) loves it there! Okay teachings. But nice people. New pastor - just moved here from TX about 6 months ago. Hole in his teaching - big time. But nice people. Pastor gets canned two weeks ago. Guess why?.... PLAGIARISM! Back to square one. THIS SUCKS! Tell me, is there such a thing anymore as a theologian with an original thought? -
She's from birmingham bam-ba-lam Way down in alabam' bam-ba-lam

He wore one at his last job, too. So what?

I had a tuner that was a pipe tuner - not electric - for my first acoustic guitar. I didn't know about the Korg tuners until much later. Most also have a place where you can plug in your cord from your guitar into the tuner and tune it that way and it's supposed to be more accurate. Hubby has one that also plays the note so you can tune by ear, if you want. Of course that tuner doubles as a baby toy - Andreas thinks he's hit pay dirt whenever hubby has left that tuner out! So, we're going to market guitar cases as cat beds and tuners as baby toys!

Love it! Although I'm not French, just hearing that accent brings me home (I'll explain why sometime, it's a little complicated) - anyhow - I love that accent!

I don't think the issue will be a black issue, but more likely a Roman Catholic issue. Here's something interesting I found in my travels: HISTORY OF ANTI-FRENCH ACTIVITY THE KKK IN MAINE Steven King's wife's family changed their name from a French name to an Anglicised version, because of the Ku Klux Klan in Maine, who targeted Catholics, who had arrived by way of French Canada. In Maine, beginning with the 1920s and for the next 50 years, the KKK found Francophones to be easy targets for their bigotry. In the 1920s, an anti-language bill found fertile ground in the Legislature and with a governor who was a KKK sympathizer. The law was on the books until 1976 when Franco legislators, led by Elmer Violette and Émilien Lévesque, were able to persuade their colleagues to recognize the injustice and strike the offensive law. (Source) (Copied from: http://www.miquelon.org/antifrench.html) Also, consider this snippet: Why would over one million New England French living next door to seven million of their Quebec brethren suddenly lose their language and find their culture invisible after having resisted "Melting Pot America" and preserved their heritage longer than most immigrant groups? The answer lies in the story of a campaign by Protestant elites to suppress the French Catholic religion that resulted in a locally resurgent Ku Klux Klan in New England giving states like Maine and Massachusetts more KKK members than any Southern state including Mississippi or Alabama. The film documents the rise of the KKK, their campaign of terror against the French, and its psychological effect on the French community resulting in invisibility and language loss. (Copied from: http://www.wakingupfrench.com/about.shtm) Onion & Chef - Y'all are from Maine, so I'm sure you may be familiar with the Portland radio station, WBLM. Do you remember a comic character they used to feature named "Frenchy"? He spoke in that choppy Franco-American dialect ("I thank you, me!) and was rather stereo-typical about his French jokes (everything was backwards, colorful, etc.) Do you remember? He was taken off the air in the 1990's I think because he offended some people. Anyhow, I wonder if his going off the air was due to any of these groups speaking out. Personally, I thought he was endearing and could swear I knew several people just like him in real life, BUT I not French - so perhaps it would have struck me differently, if I was. I suppose I could see how someone could be offended - but I was sorry to see Frenchy go off the air....
