  1. My current coffee maker grindes the beans then brews. It's the best coffee. I've heard that there's now a machine that roasts, grinds and brews. It's like someone said, "Gee, what does Krista really want?" Bingo, Bay-bee! If it had a couple of other assets, I'd marry it!
  2. Um.... How DO you pronounce it? I thought it was VEE-gin (short vowel) or is VAY-gin (also short vowel)... ...or is it tomato or tamato? ... Potato or patato?
  3. I've heard buzz lately of people buying and roasting their own coffee beans.... Anyone here do that? Or knows anyone who does? I'm asking because it sounds so heavenly - it's something I'd love to try...

    Guitar Talk

Okay, not to change the subject... And it's still about guitars... But... BUT.... I received a cool email today from a guy in Mexico who has an Ibanez bass that's similar to mine. He wanted to know if I had any wiring diagrams. My bass was made passive a long time ago - I've thought about making it active, but that's a project for a later date. Anyhow... Anyone here have any suggestions for how to find old wiring diagrams? It's a 1979 Ibanez Roadster bass... I'm sure I could take it to a tech and say, "Just do it"... but what if I wanted to try it (or more likely, Hubby would do the job....) What do you think?
  5. Just one question.... Is coffee vegan? (If so, then I'm a vegan!) (just kidding)
  6. Ugly Betty Since that was cut-n-dried, I'm going to post the next clue - cuz I don't know when I might be back here right off - (If I was wrong, just ignore my clue, k?) Thanks! CLUE:
  7. This may get me slapped, but it won't be the first time... When I first saw "VeganXTC" 's handle, I though, "Oh, jeeze... here we go... just another cult... this time it's about FOOD!" See, I've had a few encounters with some vegans who were rigid, nasty, rude, and some of the most judgemental people I'd ever met. Period. I honestly just avoided anyone pretty much, once I knew they were vegan - I'd rather talk with an Amway person, really - I always felt browbeaten after talking with some of them... Notice I didn't say "all vegans" - I said "some vegans". When this thread cropped up, I thought, "Well... guess we'll find out now..." I have found VeganXTC to be informative, friendly, funny - a pleasure to read. I don't feel that he/she (sorry I can't remember if you've referred to your gender) have been judgemental or rude at all - I think the posts have been very respectful. I applaud VeganXTC for helping some of us who didn't understand or just wanted to know more, to appreciate the diversity that we can get from this board... But I can certainly understand where Allen is coming from - scheesch - some vegans acted like they had to "witness" their practices and gawd help you if you didn't embrace them immediately. Yeah, it was like an encounter with a cult member - no different than some of those rabid WOW's or Way Disciples or whatevers that some of us once were. VeganXTC is not of on THAT trip, thankfully... :)
  8. I love the sweet stillness of morning, too. It's not like anything else in the world. I work 3rd shift, per diem, at the hospital - sometimes I'll step outside for 10-15 mins. during the wee hours of the morning. Usually at the break of dawn, I will suddenly feel *awake* - like my body clock has just reset itself, when it sees the sun. It's just a certain feeling - I don't really have the words to describe it... And the sounds are most different than at any other time - there's an eery stillness to everything, but as you notice the sky is getting lighter, then the birds begin to make more noise, and so on. If you happen to have a rooster near by, he'll usually start his racket around 4am - we have one next door - I don't really *hear* him anymore - I'm just used to him. If I'm the first one up, the coffee is made, and I sit on the sun porch - before the sun is up - listening to the noises outside, the smells of the early morning - and the snoring of my boys. It's a moment when time seems to stop and say, "Hey..." For me, this webcam wouldn't be half as much fun if it wasn't for the sounds... there's something super relaxing to the sounds - it's not like anything I've heard before, but yet there's a familiar feeling I get when I listen to it - it lulls you. This is good stuff.
  9. If you're watching right now, what the heck is making all that noise? Sounds like light sabers from Star Wars!
  10. I did a little snooping around and came up with this info... First of all, here's the RESORT that is called Nkorho Bush Lodge, where this is filmed - it's a 4-star resort. No kidding. Now, if you go to the SIGHTINGS page, you can read more about some of the wild life that you're looking at here on the cam. Nkorho Bush Lodge is in Hluvukani, South Africa. This is a section of map that will give you a good idea of where it is on the globe: http://maps.fallingrain.com/perl/map.cgi?k...x=240&y=180 There's also several sites like this - a friend of mine, who I shared this with, told me about them. She said that none of them have the sound or night vision as good as this one - not even National Geographic's webcam. Here's a LINK to a page of similar sites, if you wish to check them out... Personally, I think we should have the next Weenie Roast at the Nkorho Bush Lodge....
  11. Now that it's getting near dawn, the din of the insects and birds is starting to rise... This should be deafening in about an hour....

CK - nice clip - I can hear a 12-string guitar, but can't see who is playing it... We had the pleasure of seeing the Eagles a couple of years ago - I liked them before the concert - I loved them afterwards. The thing that impressed me the most was that although they had quite a few hired guns (stage musicians) on with them, you could still distinctly hear them - and they were excellent. As a result of the concert, I got into Poco for a bit - anyone here like Poco? Okay - I was looking for a Poco clip to share, but no luck... I did find this - I thought it was cool -

    First Kiss

Suda - I got a 'holy kiss' like that from How@rd All*n at an advanced class in Rome City - it was complete with alcohol fumes - another saliva gland on legs...
  14. Belle... I think this is what you were looking for:
  15. So, THAT'S what that was! I was wondering about it... Do you find you get a little spooked about watching this at night? It's interesting but I keep expecting something to JUMP in front of the camera at me - aiyeeee!
  16. So, you don't eat eggs or milk products (ovo/lacto) right?
  17. The thing in the water - a guess - is probably a bird of some sort - reminds me of a loon. Of course, I'd guess that the flying things are bugs... it is raining there -there's a thunderstorm going on, but it's not stopping something from slinking around just off camera, to the left of the screen, by the biggest tree... Damn, this is addictive!
  18. There's a elephant at the water hole now --- y'all gotta see this!

    Yom Kippur

I would love it if someone would explain more about Jewish holidays and the symbolism, traditions, and what it all means - I work with some Jewish people and I never know what to say or do when they talk about. I don't want to seem ignorant - it's just I was never exposed to other religions much... I do want to learn!

    First Kiss

Mr. Lingo -- I'm not a girl, but I play one on TV -- Actually, I invite you to listen to the first GSC podcast - where I talk with Pawtucket about why I picked my handle and all that - here's a rather recent pic - I'm usually on the other side of the camera, so there's not too many pics of me...

    Fair Time

I just got notice of a school board meeting on Tuesday night that I have to be at .... damn! I can't go to the fair and be back home for the meeting at 6p - darnit. Are y'all just going Tuesday or any other day?

    First Kiss

Mr. Lingo - your story is so good, it makes me wish I had been Miss Johnson... Alas, my first kiss was not so 'sweet'... Joe was one grade below me - he was in 7th, and I was in 8th. We took the same bus together and often sat near each other, teasing, joking, talking - he treated me like one of the guys - an equal. He was a dark Italian kid, with huge eyes, and a very quick wit - he was handsome. I was the almost-too-plump, red-haired girl who was last picked for sports, but first picked as a lab or math partner - yeah, a geek. It was late fall when he asked me to a movie. I thought, "what the hey" - I though other kids were coming along - I never realized it was a 'date'. My mom dropped me off at the theater to meet him, and I had a $5 clutched tight in my hand - but Joe paid for my ticket - WOW! I don't remember what movie it was - probably Karate Kid or something like that. Anyhow, I remember Joe grabbed my hand before the movie started. I remember feeling almost giddy - gee, this guy liked me? I'm sure I turned about five shade of red. Shortly after the house lights went down, he leaned over - right in my face - and planted the biggest, sloppiest kiss on me - I felt like I had French kissed a cow. YUCK! Although I was flattered beyond belief that a guy liked me, I was grossed out by the kiss - I mean - this was my first kiss and that was IT? I wiped my mouth on my sleeve and thought it's got to get better - this can't be it.... Bliss it wasn't - I needed a freakin' life jacket, as I was dating the a walking saliva gland!
