We got to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra last weekend - and I gotta tell you - it was quite the show. If you haven't heard of them or want to know more, here's their site: http://www.trans-siberian.com/ It was a two-hour show of spectacular light displays, emotion-filled music and inspirational message. It was a strange but effective mixture of holiday sentiment and rock spectacle that seemed to be a hit. I have to admit that I was hesitant about how I'd like this concert - I had listened to a CD and didn't care for it. However, this is something you have to EXPERIENCE - it's multi-media. There was an amazing light display that looked like green lasers shooting all around, music and pounding sounds of drums, guitars and keyboards, which were to be soon joined by a string section. The display was quite a heady introduction to a simple holiday story that was at the heart of the first half of TSO's show. The story was about an angel's journey to find one thing on Earth that signifies Christmas. All this was punctuated with great vocal performances, fog machines, laser lights, lots of big hair, and power chords. But you left with a "Christmas" feeling - it was all good. And you left a little more deaf than you were before you came it. I highly recommend you check this concert out - and go!!!

I'm into the Italian lentil soup that's actually a mix - but I add to it. It has fennel and garlic in it. I add some left over meats, like if we have sausage or chicken in the fridge. I've added pasta, rice, tomatoes about anything you can think of - I use the mix sorta as a base. It makes a great soup. If I can find it online, I'll post a pic of the package - it's easy to find.

I love sandwiches made with the post-Thanksgiving Day trimmings - turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce on rye with a little gravy... YUM!

I've never tried bear - what's it like?

Twinky -- My family is Welsh and we grew up on the traditional fare - steak-n-kidney pie, ox tail soup, sweetbreads, liver-n-onions, etc. For Christmas we always had rib roast with Yorkshire pudding (sorta like pop-overs but made with the drippings from the roast and served with gravy). Yes, the overcooked peas stink - not my favorite. I also know about a dozen way to fix beets or any root veggie...

I would think that with the price of gas that people would want to get back on the road to wherever they needed to be going ASAP... but that's just me. I'm married to a "sshhhH! I know where I am - don't worry!" and then an hour later... "Maybe I should ask someone... " type of guy. It's no fun!

GreasyTech is right - and he knows his stuff - but I had the impression it was your RAM, too. Also, what version of Windows are you running? And what are the System Specs for running the software? (It should be in the manual or on the box - it will give the minimum requirements.)

I don't have a caption, but why is it that no one left in TWI can look at a book or magazine by him or herself? Two by two, taken to an extreme...

Ya did good by apologizing for the language Nate, but something tells me that those kids have probably heard worse... I doubt anyone in high school or college has virgin ears... That being said... I'm forecasting canned responses with buzz words like "available", "prevail", "righteous", and whatnot to come back at ya.... probably the same crap we woulda said if we were still in.

Belle -- My x-mother-in-law made fried corn -- she was from Alabama. She'd melt butter in a pan, throw in a can or frozen corn, and add sugar. Then cook it down for a while until it got real soupy. I think she may have added some water or whatever - it was really good. I loved a lot of Southern cooking - I made catfish and hushpuppies for hubby one night because he'd never tried them before. I could eat fried okra like it was popcorn - love that stuff! But then there's things like eggs and brains, or Poke salad, that I wish I'd never heard about. And GRITS -- gawd, I almost gag just thinking about them.

Oofie Cakes When Andreas was born it put my very white bread American family in a tail spin because of his name. To this day, my mother will NOT call him Andreas - she hates the name just as she hates all things Greek, my husband included. So, we started calling Andreas by a nickname - "Dre". Then, Kristopher, Andreas' older brother, started calling him "Dre-oofie".... The "Dre" dropped off and now he's known by all as "Oofie"... Well, I'd make what we call silver dollar pancakes - they're smaller than the palm of your hand. Andreas would only eat them if he could pick them up because he'd slowly suck on them. The really small pancakes are... Oofie Cakes So, there you are... yeah, we're weird. Those kids will be in therapy for years! Now, back to b'fast...

We discovered the best pancake mix ever. Both my boys can eat their weight in these pancakes! We call 'em "Oofie Cakes" in our house (someday I'll explain the baby's sick nickname when I have a chance). The baby doesn't like maple syrup - not yet, anyhow. HA! You just reminded me of another food here in New England... Ice fishing weather is approaching and I've seen many a-hut set up by the driveway, as the manly-men get ready to place it on the lakes when they freeze over, so they can catch.... SMELTS! My dad would cook them by breading them and frying them (after they were cleaned, of course). I couldn't get past the smell or the tiny little bones - ewww! But I've never seen them anywhere else...

The Corps - which is now Family Corps and "regular" Corps rolled into one - is now totally trained at Gunnison. It's been this way for sometime now. Of course, they'll send Corps in training to HQ as needed (read: free labor - or better yet - workers who are PAYING to work!)

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but wasn't she in art school when Jefferson Airplane formed? Maybe I'm thinking of another group...

We were in the grocery store this week after school, in the produce section. A little bell went off just before the misters started to spray -- "bing... BONG..." Kristopher: "Who's there?!" I had never noticed that they sounded EXACTLY like a door bell... it really cracked me up... ( guess you had to be there....)
