  1. There's a rumor that you'll see a student become a teacher in the last book. My money is on Neville taking the place of Professor Sprout, just because Herbology has been Neville's only real strength but I also considered it could be Hermonie, just because it seems that Professor McGonagal (sp) would now be the headmaster.
  2. If you have the lobster steamed you won't get that much water either... (...And if when you remove the big claws, you twist them and push down, so that the part that is broken off is facing down in the plate when you snap it off, then you won't have a lap full of water.) I remember how expensive lobster was when I was in the south. Here we get it for about $4/lb this time of year and cheaper in the summer. Lobster, steamer clams, corn on the cob, baked potato, salad, and of course, a good beer (Sam Adams Summer Ale) or wine - and that's better than Thanksgiving dinner anyday!
  3. Thanks! I used to work in seafood restaurants in Maine when I was in high school - mostly bartending - and part of my job was to teach tourists how to get into lobster.... I was good at it! Now, because my mother had worked on lobster boats, she wanted NOTHING to do with them... So, I never had my first lobsta until I was 18 years old! (And fell in love... ) There's a restaurant around here that I'd take you to in heartbeat - they serve hot buttered lobster rolls. No shell to mess with - just pure Maine lobster meat on a grilled roll with hot butter. They serve them in half-pound, pound, and large amounts. And they're not priced too badly either - and YUM... I wish they were open! Lobster rolls and Corona w/ lime.... that's summer!

    Men's Cologne

just a good Bay Rum works fine... I don't trust a man who wears anything I can't pronounce and costs more than my shoes.
  5. (see emphasis added by this poster, above.) Gee, ya think?
  6. LCM was nonetookind about it either... he referred to therapists as people who you pay to be your friend and threatened anyone who went outside of the "household" for help with getting confronted about it... I don't think that anything I hear about these guys now would suprise me any... Personally, I think Ms. Shroyer oughta team up with Tom Cruise and go on a "toss away your valium and prozac" campaign.
  7. awww thanks! I'm not the type of mom who gets upset when I see my little ones bumped or scraped. Of course, no one likes to see their kid get hurt, but you can't wrap 'em in cotton or bubble wrap... I'm really looking forward to it - we've worked on batting and throwing. He's sooo left handed that it's not even funny. He's got a good swing and good form - he's pretty strong. He bopped me right on the forehead the other day with a quick pop. OW! Right now we've got about 18" of snow on the ground and 3" more on the way tonight. Sorta hard to think that t-ball starts in another month... I just saw where at a local field here in NH, they were putting down black sand to melt the snow on the field - never heard of that before...
  8. ahem... actually, I am "the wife"... :) My handle, ChasUFarley is not my name. Chas is a chick. I've had this handle for 7 years now... (Scheesch.... has it really be SEVEN year?!) Anyhow... Kristopher is also left-handed... (truthfully, I think he'll head to first base because 1st is closer to you if you hit left-handed, which he does.) The tough thing is finding a left-handed glove small enough for him (he's also very petite - he looks about 4, size wise, but is going to be 6 in July...)
  9. Yes, you take a sharp French Chef's knife and run it between the top of the back shell and the head - it's not fun to do, believe me (I used to work in a raw bar.) Langastino is lobster that comes from warm waters - like around FL, Cuba, etc. To steam the lobster, you just put a few cups (maybe 6-8) of water in a pan, add salt, and then get it boiling hard. Then drop the tails in for about 5-7 mins. They will curl and turn red. Now, I'd steam them and serve them with maybe rice pilaf, corn on the cob, salad, and maybe a nice Chablis. Oh, and melted butter. HELLO! Eat the other stuff while the tails cool - let everyone crack his or her own tail, you know. If the meat is a little cool, its no big deal. If its too hot to touch with your fingers, why would you want it in your mouth? If you serve the butter hot, that will sorta warm up the meat anyhow. Now, if you're doing whole lobster, you should get yourself a good nutcracker set with the little pointy hooks and nut cracker to get at the meat.
  10. Don't mean to derail this or anything but... I'm so excited - I just have to share... We just signed Kristopher, our 5 year old, up for t-ball! $5 says that he runs for 3rd base when he hits his first ball in his first game! LOL!
  11. A Mainer to the rescue... To get the meat out of lobster tails you have to twist BACK the end of the tail that has the little semi-circle shaped shell flap. Twist them back until they snap off. Take your index and middle finder and insert them in the opening you have now made at the end of the tail where these little flap things used to be. As Dr. Ruth would say, Firmly but gently, push against the meat with your fingers until it begins to slide out of the wider opening of the tail. Sometimes it helps if you flex the tail a couple of time - like straighten it out and curl it back up. Once the meat begins to slide out of the wider opening of the tail, you can grasp it better and finish taking it out. Note: There will be a dark vein that runs along the "top" of the tail meat, sorta in the middle. This dark vein is the intestines. Just pull it off. It won't hurt you if you eat it but I just remove it. The tails may have been cleaned and you won't see this vein - but that's doubtful. By the way - are these Maine lobster tails? Or is it Langastino? (And if you just steam the tails and eat them with butter - yummmmm!)
  12. Okay, I've been quiet because I've been reading up on your veil theory, which I found interesting... But I beg to differ... The veils you mention at Nick's Death Day party are black curtains. There's mention of black tablecloths on the tables, with the rotten haggis. But I wouldn't think of curtains as veils - I imagined the veil of the arch to be wispy, raggy looking, and perhaps a little natty. Curtains I think of as a more solid and not tattered or wispy. In short, I think the curtains were just "trim" and not a clue. I don't think there's a clue in those trends. Now, about Trevor's magical nature - I can't find record of that at all... I found where Uncle Algie (sp) had hung Neville out the window by his ankles and dropped him. Neville bounced, which proved his magical abilities. But nothing about Trevor. Next, you talked about your disappointments with the 6th book... here's mine: 1) Hagrid & Olympia - I was hoping for more of a romance there or something. 2) Ginny & Harry - too predictable - especially when he broke up with her. 3) Harry - not just in the 6th book but in ALL of them - Harry is the most un-curious person in the world! It about kills me that he doesn't ask more about his family or his past or anything. We know so little about his parents or what they did for work or anything... scheesch! 4) Voldemort - not enough presence - he was mentioned, but never surfaced really. We did learn a lot about him and his past - more than I had imagined we would. 5) Horcruxes - not enough about HOW they work or HOW they are made. 6) Follow-up from the Dept. of Mysteries - no info. I mean, what was up with some of those rooms or like the brains in the tank... what was that all about? We hear about the damage, etc. but nothing more. That's a few for now... wishing I didn't have so much work so that I could read more - great flights of fancy!
  13. oh man... that sounds good... my only "beef" with the Spider-man movies is that you just can't take kids to them - and kids love Spider-man... I wish there was something more family-friendly out there. I do have some of the original Spider-man shows on VHS for Kristopher - he loves the classic Spider-man shows - which we watch together sometimes.... but I dunno about those movies...
  14. A Canadian critizing George DoubleU? Gee, that's new. (I'm just ribbin' ya CowGirl... ) Yes, GWB has speech writers but I'm sure there's some of his personality that he brings to the podium. No, he's not the most graceful or refined speaker but he's not as bad as some others we've had in office - but the internet and youtube wasn't around when Nixon was in office... (and I barely was...) I think my favorite speech maker to watch was Ronald Regan - he could tell you that we were going to war and make you feel good about it...
  15. Do you want to argue that with my Greek mother-in law?
  16. No, but I'd love to hear more... I have a sister who is in the Army and she was stationed in Germany for quite a while. She loved it and said American beer and bread couldn't hold a candle to what the Germans had...
  17. Call it Karma... Call it the Golden Rule... But I practice this when I'm driving quite a bit - especially in parking lots. I believe that I often get as many breaks as I do because I give a lot of breaks to others... It goes really far in school parking lots, as you're going to be encountering those people every day for the next 12 years, so why not get along nicely? Or maybe its because I drive a really wimpy car... you're not too tough when you're behind the wheel of a PT Cruiser...
  18. Your post made me think of the SNL skit about Schwetty Balls - when Alec Baldwin guest hosted... it's a scream!

That is sooooooo rock'n'roll.... Don't laugh, but the Mel Bay series of books is really good. I don't know too many web sites that really have sound content. Personally, I like the web for getting tab but not for learning about technique... I started out playing guitar but someone (my ex) gave my guitar away... I prefer bass, anyhow. (And gawd help anyone who tries to give my baby away!)
  20. I think there's a problem with your link there, so consider that I haven't read what is on the other thread you mentioned about this... Here's my thoughts on it: If God hadn't wanted women to be an authority over men at some point then She wouldn't have given them a brain.
  21. Our local town meeting to vote on warrant articles and local gov't positions took place yesterday. Specifically, there were two open positions for the school board and three people were running for the positions. One candidate is a retired teacher, one candidate is a retired investment banker, and one candidate is an 18 year old senior in high school - I'll call him "The Kid"... The Kid had been at every school board meeting I can remember (I work for the school board - I shoot the video for public access TV and write the meeting minutes). He's an Eagle Scout, active in various volunteer projects, president of his class, etc. - you get the idea. He's the kind of kid that any parent would be very proud of! Well, The Kid and the Retired Teacher got the two open positions. The Investment Banker has also been on some other boards and can be a loose cannon - I'm glad he didn't get elected. But... I admit to having mixed feelings about someone who isn't out of school yet representing me. On one hand, he knows a lot of the goings on in the school and would be a good advocate for the students. On the other hand, he's never had a job, is going to be going through college while he's on the Board, and doesn't pay taxes. So... I'm wondering if you've heard of something like this before? How would you feel about it?
  22. You're forgetting that the lemmings that you referred to in your first post CHOOSE to thow themselves down the proverbial hole.

REM? In the RRHF? Scheesch... I can think of sooooo many bands/musicians who have come before them who aren't in the RRHF.... I don't get how they decide who goes in.... I have an issue with the RRHF... here's ol' Chas getting up on her soapbox... Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the RRHF.... but the E Street Band was NOT. Buddy Holly was inducted into the RRHF... but the Crickets were NOT. Frank Zappa was inducted into the RRHF... but the Mothers of Invention were NOT. Bob Marley was inducted into the RRHF... but the Wailers were NOT. Then, there's the non-musicians who have been inducted - Clive Davis and Berry Gordy, for example - who have NO business being there. Then, there's the bands who shoulda been inducted YEARS ago... The Guess Who Jeff Beck Peter Frampton Steppenwolf Three Dog Night Thin Lizzy Blue Oyster Cult Hall & Oats Boston Styx Chicago Cat Stevens Little Feat Kiss ... and they pull REM outta where? for this... I don't get it...
  24. There is another way you can do it - but it would be so much trouble it probably wouldn't be worth it... Since it's HTML based you could right mouse click on it and show source. Then copy and paste the code into FrontPage or some other HTML editing software. Mozilla has out a new HTML editing program that's really fun to work with (but then I get my kicks making spreadsheets and designing databases.) You'd have to upload that to a server and you'd still need to have the pictures on a server just the same... So it's really more work in the long run.
  25. You take the images off, upload them to a server (I use imagecave.com for free hosting), and you post the URL that imagecave provides you. I've taken them off the email for you and emailed them back to you as an attachment. You'll just need to get them on a server and the rest of it - but I know you're savvy with that stuff... (Check your email...) :)
