  1. If you're gonna buy, I always tell people to download the property tax list that's on nh.gov and see what the tax rates are per town. That's how we chose our town - we were looking at two very similar homes, just 15 miles apart from each other, but both in close proximity to our work places. Both had similar specs but one was going to be about $250 more per month than the other!!! It was all due to TAXES! We've got it good now, as we happen to have the owner of the New Hampshire International Speedway (a NASCAR affiliated race track!) move into town. The taxes on his mansion on the lake PAID for the new high school we just built here. We pay just 9% - the lowest in the state!
  2. Got this link of Drudge Report this morning... I thought some of you might find this interesting.... http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/856784.html
  3. That would be decent rates here in New England... We bought our modest home (2200 sq. ft.) six years ago - 3 bedroom, 1.75 baths, 0.33 acres, above ground pool, decks, etc. We've added a sunroom - that's about it for home improvements. Well, we refinanced last month and found that it had increased in value by well more than twice what we paid for it. The market value on it now is around $250K! I'm sure by TX standards that's pretty high for this little nest we have but there's been a big housing boom up here in the past five years. I'm sure that $250K could get me a nice piece of real estate in TX but up here, it will get you a very modest, single family home.... and that's about it. Those barns are pretty reasonable, when you compare them to the local economy here....
  4. Oh,Twinky... I'd forgotten about that stuff... I remember it being applied to people being slain in the spirit and also to those who prayed to Jesus.... (which is a quantum leap if you think back to the two types of unbelief and don't consider that those who pray to Jesus might not have ever been taught differently....)
  5. Guess I don't spend enough time in the Christian bookstores so that I could relate.... (I do cringe when I see those Liliput houses - does that count?)

Y'all ... YOU GOTTA SEE THIS! AND THIS!
  7. Not to disagree with you, but there's one picture of Jesus that's out of the norm - and I love it! (To be honest, it's the ONLY picture of Jesus I'd ever have in my house...) I think it's called "The Laughing Christ" or something like that...
  8. FOUND IT - It's a scream! PRICELESS CORP MOMENTS
  9. No - that's TRUE! Lemme see if I can find it for you, but there were some rather colorful threads about that one...
  10. Dooj - I'm not saying this to kiss your tushy but.... Dang, girl! You really know your stuff.... I learned more about that painting from you just now than I do from that nun on PBS!
  11. How beautiful! I'd love to see that in person - you're so lucky to have that sorta view!
  12. Dooj! My oldest calls them "M&M&M&M&Ms"! (I tried to mess him up with that by turning them upside-down so they became "W&W&W&W&Ws" (Poor kid will be in therapy for years after hanging out with me!) Yes - Andreas is a perfect Jack Jack at 2 years old - he can be a total demon! Kristopher, at 5 years old, races everyone to everything - even drinking milk, and has to be FIRST! Hubby is a former power lifter... I'm a wise-cracking red-head who tries to keep things going smoothly here at home... We are the Incredibles!
  13. (slightly...) This is a copy and paste from another thread - I think it was called "Silly Reproof" or something: ----------------------------------------------------- And did I tell you about how I ruined Donna Martindale's birthday one year? Yes, I'm sure she remembers this one.... Well, since it was her birthday, a day more holy than Easter or Christmas, but not as holy as Cinco d Mayo or St. Patrick's Day, a bunch of her biggest fans were all saving up seats near the head table. I was asked if my husband and I would join a group at a table - it happened to be in the area where we usually sat anyhow, so I saved us seats. I didn't get to see hubby before lunch and then got pulled out to usher at the last minute. Next thing I knew, hubby was sitting at a different table and had saved me a seat. ROT-ROW... Now I had 2 empty seats to fill near the head table and there was no one left to seat them. The head of food services (IR@) came up to me in a huff and ripped me in front of a couple of tables about these EMPTY SEATS... I mean... no one was bleeding, right? You'd have thought Christ was never going to come back now because *I* had NOT filled 2 freaking chairs near the head table... IR@ went almost purple yelling at me (and I'm usually pretty soft about these things - I don't hold together well when I get yelled at, but he was so short and so purple it was hard not to laugh...) What was up with that?! Yeah... I bet Donna stays awake every night thinking about that one...

Personally, I'd like that but I was into wood working with my dad when I was a kid - you know, building birdhouses and the like. Just messin' around. Anyhow... I do love stringing up my bass and cleaning it. But I really love just playing. I got enough chores already....
  15. I remember that - it methane was supposed to be trapped beneath the earth, when there was one contenant (Gaia) - at the time of Peleg. Supposedly, something happened that would break up the contents and separate the people. It's all tied into plate techtonics, etc. I can't remember if this was before or after the thing about Eve being a lesbian... anyhow... I sometimes wonder what VP would have thought about how LCM ran the show... (And I keep remembering what someone said many years ago - the Fountain of Living Waters is powered by the BOT spinning in their graves!)
  16. This isn't my area of expertise, but isn't this style of painting called Impressionist? It's not about detail, right? But about a study of light..... It's not supposed to be viewed right up close, either. Morons. Good grief... I love Degas, Van Gogh, and my favorite - Monet. (Monet's Rowen Cathedral at Dawn is my favorite painting!) I've loved teaching my kids about art via the Baby Eienstein series of videos and books - they love it. Yep, introduce them to those debbil spirits young, I say! I bet your eyes are georgous! (This is coming from a very anglo looking gal with olive green eyes, who always wished she had dark sexy eyes! )
  17. Notta - Your story about the head table... I can only imagine... Did I tell you the one about how I single-handedly ruined Donna's birthday lunch one day? And it was all because of where I sat... go figger...
  18. The cool thing about the barn homes is that they are easy to establish a good floor layout and it saves an already existing building. I live in an open concept home - it's about 2400 sq. feet. and we don't find it hard or expensive to heat at all. We have ceiling fans to move the air, so it all doesn't go up into the loft area. My only complaint about it is that if you have a mess in the kitchen, then it seems that you've got a mess in the living room and dining room too! In the next town over from me there's a restaurant that opened a couple of years ago that is a restored barn. The old barn used to be just full of bats and run down. It looked like a wreck. The new owners fixed it up, decorated it, and it's so pleasant to go to now. I love the old hand-hewn beams throughout the place - it's just comfortable.

Men... tools... wood.... things to be fixed... ug! I can feel the testerone levels rising in the room with that stuff... Guys love fixin' stuff. I swear hubby tweaks his amps and stuff just cuz he needs to scratch that itch to fix somethin'... (Never mind we have siding that needs replacing on the house after the nor'easter last month...) <_<
  20. Love it! LOL! (But don't be suprised if the bathrooms are also bugged!)
  21. Working in Food Service, I cringed when he'd get on that stage and get rolling about something... FOR HOURS... And my only memory was, "I gotta stay awake. I gotta stay awake. I gotta stay awake. " Followed by, "We're not going be ready for supper if this keeps up!" Seriously... But hey, if they wanted to pay me $2.99/hour to sit and listen... why not. That's ABS well spent, isn't it?
  22. Yeah... well... He asked me if my dad left any money for me when he died. No - 'gee sorry for your loss" nothing. straight to the subject of MONEY. I wanted to punch him in the teeth because my mom had just had to sell their house - which was all paid off - because she couldn't afford the taxes anymore.
  23. yeah and if you put chel@r and b0lch@lk in a room together the collective i.q. was a negitive number... did some of those wc from those years drop outta trees and into training or what? "I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is." - Forrest Gump
  24. I'm gonna have to listen to it - sorry I didn't make it! My &^%&^# router died... I had to run out and buy another one (got an Apple AirPortExpress - dang, it ROCKS!) Anyhow... next time!
  25. whoopsie! I didn't see it was hyperlinked, so I didn't see it....
