  1. For those of you who don't know: Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache. I'm wondering if anyone here has done it? Can you do it WITHOUT a GPS device? Is there something like it that you can do with a compass? (I'm thinking of a learning game for my oldest who is totally into maps, compasses, measurements, etc. now - he's gonna be 6 soon and would probably really enjoy something like this...)
  2. Hmmmm.... X-Men? (Chas admits this is a shot in the dark...)
  3. There's something new in our area called Red Box - it's like a vending machine for renting movies. Movies are $1/per night! It's got great selection - not a lot - but mostly new and recent releases. It's great for anything the kids want to watch and since there's one in my town, it's very easy to rent and return within 24 hours. Gee... $1/night with Red Box OR $4.50/night Town Video Store....??? Not a hard decision there...
  4. I think there should be a part II of this one...

How about July 13 - 15 - it's the second weekend of the month? OR July 6-8 the first weekend of the month? I know lots of people are taking time off for the July 4th weekend to be with family, etc. We're open for most anything...

You're looking at about 4 hours... not bad, really.
  8. They forgot their Y2K patch seven years ago... Well, we probably shouldn't be too shocked about this. After all, they haven't introduced any new light in decades, so why have a new theme?
  9. I echo what others here have said about maturity levels. I'm 8 years younger than hubby and far more immature.
  10. Thanks for the comments and input.... Sudo - that SNL skit is a scream - love it! I'd never get a tat on my bumper like that - not enough ink in the world for that! LOL! Besides, I've got the tats of a lifetime from my pregnancies with the boys and value those silver lines that decorate my middle and lower-middle. The iris is a tribute tat to my dad. He loved them and his casket had a huge spray of them on it at his funeral. I took one and pressed it in a book and thought someday, I'd get a tattoo of that... that was in 1993... I finally for the tat in 2006! I guess I thought long and hard about it, eh? I won't lie - it hurt - especially where you see the intense green colors - I thought that artist was drawing on my bones - it was tough to keep a poker face during that! The place I had it done was a real dive - a place frequented by bikers and shady characters - but the artist used better Universal Precautions than I see used at the hospital where I work - no kidding. He was also very gifted and took a lot of time to work with me on it - that's a custom tat - not flash. The healing process was gross, but the final results were worth it. I'm careful to keep it hydrated and not get a sunburn there. Anyhow, I'm itching for another one... my thing is that someday I'll be mother of the groom, a grandmother, etc. - so I want something I can easily hide under clothing - or expose, if I wish... Since I'm self-employed, my boss won't care...
  11. You're UP! Can't get into spring and baseball without thinkin' of Bull Durham!
  12. And while we've been discussing poodles with noodles, a man in the UK decides to eat corgi as a protest... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6703423.stm

She has your hair color! HOW CUTE!! (Is she a Bishon?)
  14. I have no idea if you've been here with this thread yet or not... I've lurked on it quite a bit, off and on, so please forgive me if you've covered this already... ...I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
  15. Maybe their needle is stuck on a groove in the recording and they just need a little shove... ?
  16. douse them with a little worchestershire sauce - YUM! I also like extra garlic salt (or pepper) and a little olive oil - but not much because they tend to soak it up.
  17. mstar - LOVE IT! We did that with our second one - put him in a plush guitar case - 'til he started yanking the fuzz off the sides of it and trying to eat it! <_< (Why do some kids eat fluff and fuzz? I never understood that one...)
  18. There was a coloring book - is that what you're referring to?
  19. Thanks Bolshevik. Something I just remembered... Y'all remember who K. C. Pillai was? He wrote Light Through An Eastern Window, etc. He lived in Birmingham, AL. I remember the LCs of AL - Chu*k Nev1n$ and his wife told me about when they found Bishop Pillai's grave, it was just a marker (he was buried in Birmingham.) It had been that way for YEARS. They went through the trouble of making sure he had a proper headstone - just out of respect. I thought it was great of them to do that but you gotta wonder about the fool who dropped the ball on that!
  20. I got bitten by the tattoo bug a few years ago... Actually, I had wanted to get one for about 20 years and FINALLY got the nerve (and support) to do it. I have a large iris on my back - I want to add to it, but gradually. (GOOD tats aren't cheap - mine is excellent!) (the pic doesn't do it justice - that's my iris) There's a couple others I want to get... a celtic design for womanhood (maiden, mother, and crone.) (I'm a crone in training.) Anyhow... Where to get them, is becoming the question... I admire the women who are brave enough to sport sleeves - very cool. But don't know if I have the nerve to do anything that bold. I love the one on my back but I can't see it without looking in a mirror... Do you think tats on women are gross? Should they be hidden? Or do you think society is pretty accepting of them? Just wondering...
  21. Don't offer to do the dishes AFTER you've been working in the backyard, spreading mulch... THE WARM SOAPY WATER GETS PAINFUL!!!!!!!! (Chas wasn't too bright this weekend... didn't know you could get a bazillion splinters from mulch....)
  22. OKay - we tried it this weekend... they got a little mushy - is that normal?
  23. I want to set the tone for this thread first because I'm sure it could seem disrespectful to the survivors. That is not the intent of this thread at all. I kindly ask that you keep this repectful because the subject is about something that was most likely decided with little or no family input... In another thread there's a discussion about how TWI doesn't honor the dead. I started thinking about where some of the Weirwille family members are buried and some are not. Is Mrs. Weirwille buried next to her husband? Is Aunt Naomi buried next to her husband? Is Uncle Don (that's what I called him) buried near his dad? Just wondering about the practices of this...
