Interesting twist to this twisted tale... -
Love it! (But it was a little strange seeing Robbie Coltrain (Hagrid) come on stage as the same size as the other characters - he's supposed to be HUGE)... (that didn't sound right, did it?)
-
I'm not a guy but that was disturbing, at best... (Personally, I like the one from Germany(?) where the kid is in the grocery store with his dad and throws a total hissy fit for sweets. Don't want a kid like that? Use a condom!)

OH MAN -- First of all - THANK YOU to all for your suggestions and input. The day was a SUCCESS! The weather was cooler than we had expected, so we played more games and had less pool time. There was a total of ten kids (our two and eight guests). I started off by having the kids make a drawing of what they would look like if they were a car - on a paperplate - and then they got to use the paperplate to bop balloons into the air - and keep them there. We had a frog hunt (I had hidden a couple of dozen of stretchy rubber frogs around our property.) I gave out prizes to who got the most, the least, a green frog, etc. - until EVERYONE had a prize at some point. I found a pool noodle kit where the kids could personalize their own pool noodle (they were at Wal-Mart) - and I got one for each kid - that was a hit! We played red light/green light using balloons - not words. We did "freeze dancing" to the Cars (movie) theme song. We swam in the pool for about 45 mins. Of course there was food, cake - and I had put out adult beverages for the parents and grown-up snacks - the moms who came stayed and loved it. Everyone had a great time - it was a HIT! So... THANKS AGAIN!!!!

If I'm understanding you and what your project is about, I'd ask... What did he/she collect? What did he/she choose to have around them? (i.e. pics on their desk or wall) What did he/she like to talk about? Where did he/she like to spent their time the most? What music, movies, or books did they like? (you could pick just genres, or maybe they had a favorite artist or album) What did they talk about wanting to do in the future? (perhaps a trip or to travel, maybe it was back to school, or maybe some career ambition.)

uh... a Nike commercial? puleeze... With debbil spirits around every corner, it's always amazed me that craiggers didn't end up in a room with padded walls, wearing a white jacket with wrap around sleeves.

Someone recently sent me a link to PDSTRO's MySpace page and we've been listening to the awesome music... sorry to say, but that was BEFORE my time in TWI, but man - WHAT MUSIC! Nothing beats it! If TWI had that spirit today, I'd consider going back. Seriously. It's not just the music that's a turn on, but the knowing that you know, being a real person, THE LOVE - AGAPE, youknowwhatimean... the passion of the Word... What it was... it was really something once, wasn't it?
-
my iPod -- if you use it for JUST MUSIC - you're missing out on some great features!
-
Bol - 'fraid so... but I have connections in Wells, ME that might be able to do me a little better than that... I've seen it as cheap as $4.95/lb within the last year... depends on red tides, season, etc. Demand is up right now cuz it's tourist season.
-
Lobsta goes for about $6.95/lb here - clams are about $2.99/lb Friends at a Weenie Roast - PRICELESS!
-
Okay - let's see if you audiophiles can find this one... Hubs is looking for a tune - we've searched high and low on the net - "So You're A Star" by the Hudson Brothers (1974) Anyone got this file?
-
CC - My culinary soul mate... Check your IM's! (And promise to bring a dish - I bet anything you bring will be GOOD!)
-
WHO: All y'all! WHAT: A weenie roast of sorts WHEN: Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 12 noon (starting) WHERE: My house - in the beautifuul Lakes Region of NH HOW: We'll figger that out as we go along... WHY: Just cuz... DETAILS: IM me please if you're coming. The bash will be on Sunday but we'll certainly be into having guests at other times if you need to come early or stay late. We have few sleepin' spots here at the house - could put up two or three, comfortably. But there's lots of campgrounds, etc. near by that would be very affordable. PLEASE bring your kids, guitars, musical instruments, etc. - no rain date. We do have a pool - bring your bathing suit and towel - but no promise of the water being warm by then. Bring a dish. BYOB. You get the idea. This is serious - we're doing this. Hope to see you! You're a stranger here but once.

I remember working for Bass Shoes (when they were still made in Maine) when I was in high school, and they decided to impose a dresscode - long-sleeved oxford shirts with a buttondown collar, navy or brown or black pants, a man's tie, and oxford shoes or pennyloafers. As a woman who always wears very short hair, I looked... well.... very masculine. I figured out how to "fem" things up a bit - I'm not real girly-girl but this dresscode was not for people with... well... boobs. Anyhow, it made getting easy for work a breeze and sorta made for better overall moral, in the long run. I think if you stick with it and look for loopholes where you can be "you" - then you'll be okay. But if it's a real pain - look for another job. Life's too short to be miserable in a monkey suit.

Maybe with the climate changes, they'll come back...

I've been wondering the same thing... Are we getting together? Chas & co are game - set a date (weekends are best, of course)...

After making my last post on this, above, I did a quick Google on the physician's names and practice: http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2007...-in-mans-death/ -Organs were NOT harvested -The pt did NOT die as a result of the injections, although they were within lethel limits -The physicians involved do NOT work for a private organ transplant or harvesting company - but the one for the state of CA - it's a network. In other words, they had little/nothing to gain (money wise) by this issue. This is more of a DEATH gone bad - the lack of regard for this boy's life (he was 25) and his mother's wishes were not fully considered. This article states that CONSENT was given for organ harvest: http://blogs.eastbayexpress.com/92510/2007...plant_doc_u.php Nonetheless... this is a set back for organ donation, no doubt about it.

Working in healthcare quality management and knowing the laws and regulations surrounding this AND patient privacy, I am more suspicious of this news article than anything else. It smacks of sensationalism and there's so much that's NOT said in this, that should have been. The medical facts about the case that are quoted by a nurse are unprofessional and could do more damage to the mother's case *IF* blame is placed on the practitioners involved with this and IF their intent was truly foul. I suspect there was more of a misperception by the mother, a miscommunication between the medical professionals, and the this isn't the monstrous situation that the article has made it out to be... I'd love to follow this more...

CINDY! Is that a double double post post in a post?
-
The TWI topics that get me skiddish are the ones that generally result in 20+ page threads - like plaigerism, issues with the class, and spin off groups (i.e. Momentus)...

Seems exteme to us here in the USA, but I believe the culture there sees this as justice and not as an extreme. Perhaps someone like George Aar could shed more light on this. I agree with the posters who feel we should invest more in the USA and less in these other countries who keep Wal-Mart's shelves stocked.
-
True. But what's the excuse here in this country where we do have a system and people who are supposed to monitor these goods when they come over the border? It's not just food and health/beauty products - it's in toys, auto parts (aftermarket), and appliances - all have had issues this year in some fashion.

I agree with you about Apple's prices, but I think the iPhone will come down in a few years or you'll see a bunch of improvements and a little/no price increase. That seems to be Apple's trend with most things. Yes, I'm an iPod addict, but I use mine the way most people use PDA's - I back up my entire computer's harddrive to it, have over 8 gigs of music on it, put the videos for the kids to watch in the minivan on it (so we aren't scratching the DVD's), program it to have pop-up reminders, sync it with my calendar, hold my digital photos, use the pre-amp in it for recording from digital effects pedal-to-guitar for Garage Band, subscribe to podcasets, and record the meetings that I work at taking meeting minutes. It's dead useful - I get way more miles out of it than I did with my PDA. I didn't expect I'd like it as much as I have - it was sorta like someone said, "Gee, what does Krista reaaallllyyyyy want?"
