  1. About two months after my divorce was final I moved to another state to make a "fresh start". I wasn't there a week when I was TOLD I had to go to someone's shower and wedding. I wasn't asked if I could do it. IT WAS THUS SAITH THE MOG... My presence was requied, along with my presents, so that they'd have a nice turn out and also have lots of people to help serve. I had never met the bride or groom before - it was really uncomfortable and I stayed as busy as possible. As long as leadership's needs were met, who cared? Right? p.s. Golfie - the leadership in MA was the same leadership you wrote about in WI. Last I knew they still had those candlesticks!
  2. IGOTOUT - I know you're going to ask about speakers. They didn't have the ones I liked in but I'm getting a Pioneer 510W system (it's got a subwoofer even!)
  3. I GOT IT! HP Pavilion a530n 3200+ AMD Athelon 64 Processor 1024 MB DDR SDRAM memory (it came with 512 MB but I upgraded it as soon as it came out of the box for just another $40!) 200 GB hard drive DVD+RW/CD-RW CD ROM frive NVIDA GeForce FX5200XT AGP 8X Graphics Card w/ 128 MB DDR video memory & TV out Built in front access 9-in1 media card reader, high speed USB 2.0 and FireWire Ports After rebates and including the price of the upgrade - $895! NO KIDDING! (It wasn't an open box deal, either). I got a 19" CRT monitor - ViewSonic, UltraBrite. The photo printer was free. I added a wireless internet connection to it and a router from the old computer - so I'm networked now with by former beast. I also got a battery back up - it's a monster and the toughest thing to set up - the rest was easy - I was AMAZED at how simple the upgrades and other plug ins were to install!!! All in all, I'm very pleased with my set up and think it's going to make my work and social life much more fun (I do both via my computer!) MANY THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP WITH THIS! Your posts made me do more homework and think about all the possibilities! HUGS TO YOU ALL! (((techies))))
  4. I was thinking about this some more (okay, too much coffee this morning, I admit) and you know what? I'm really not impressed by the "God-gave-me-bigger-knockers" claim. Now if they had said that God made their foot smaller, then I would be impressed!
  5. I didn't know that was *available*. And here I've been believing for Wonder Bra sales, when I could have been believing for bigger ta-tas. You gotta wonder how God does it, don't you? I mean He can mend broken hearts, give perfect peace, provide all your needs including someone's little ol' mammary glands.
  6. Run any metasearch with the words "the way international" and guess what? TWI is NOT the only company with those words in it. Are they going to be the spiritual Metallica and sue everyone who infringes on their name in just the slightest? (Metallica sued Victoria's Secret several years ago for naming a siver colored eyeliner "Metallica" screaming they were using the band's name.) So, why don't they go after these other companies? They've got web sites up and running using those same words. Pat doesn't. They're not going to sell their books online - they don't even sell them to their own members if they don't think they've had the right classes or are in good enough standing order. Besides, they'd still be under the non-profit tax umbrella. I still don't get it other than they have a ax to grind with Pat because he's been actively making people aware of the inner workings of TWI via the net. p.s. Pat - there was a thread on Waydale about TWI's big, fat, blank web site. It may do you good to dig that up - that thread is at least 4 years old now.
  7. Am I missing something here?... They're a non-profit still, right? Why do they want a DOT COM? Shouldn't they want a DOT ORG? Enlighten me, please...
  8. But what's the "Present Truth" now? I would think there would be "mixed messages" to anyone who survived the fog years, the purge that follow when LCM outted everything that had anything to do with previous leadership but the RFR still used LCM's materials (he's out now, ISN'T HE?) She used the damn buzz words on TV - what do they mean to her administration NOW?
  9. In PFAL we were taught by ol' Vic that truth doesn't change. Truth is truth and will ALWAYS stay the same. Facts will change as we have more information but truth won't change. Period. Forward to a new administration. New power-hungry-screamer with a bad comb over decided that he's going to get rid of the chaff, end the "fog years" and starts slowly introducing the phrase "The Present Truth". First it's taught at Corpse Nights, then Advance Classes, so on. I remembered being puzzled by the frequent use of this statement and what it REALLY meant. It ended up meaning that anything from VPW's administration, up to when the "fog years" ended - about 1989-ish - was to be thrown out. Fast Forward to another admistration - now there's another leader in place. She used the phrase "The Present Truth" in the commercial that TWI aired not too long ago. Why isn't she getting rid of Craig's crap? What is she introducing that's new? The Problem with The Present Truth is that they're defining it as ONE MAN'S idea of the truth - not the Word! This trend is going from administration to administration. I'm not one to knock innies for being in - I was in TWI too long and stayed for the wrong reasons -- but I really have to ask: Are they lulled to sleep that badly? Is anyone questioning any of what they're being told?
  10. Of course they (TWI) forgot they were dead in trustpasses and sin and in need of atonement. They forget that they came from crap - I WANT TO SEE THEM TELL CHRIST THAT HIS DYING WAS OF LITTLE IMPORTANCE TO THEM - BUT THANKS FOR GETTING UP BIG GUY! They don't get it that Jesus GAVE his life - he DID NOT have to go thru what he did - but they poo-poo it. I bet VPW would have embraced the movie - it's the LCM wanna-be's - rightous in their own eyes who are too hard hearted to honestly give thought to what was REALLY done for them. To redeem their sorry @sses. Quote of the month: "Lack of logic is a primary hallmark of longterm involvement in The Way." (Cherished Child)
  11. Catcup's right - the more ammo they've gathered on you the more they could twist and trap you in their game. They didn't like me cuz I wouldn't play into it - called me "aloof" and "rebellious" - damn straight! As I saw it anyone who wanted to know my deepest secrets but didn't know me or wanted to take the time to establish a friendship was NOT a friend - they didn't deserve to have that kind of info. When the crap hit the fan when I was on staff any my (now x) husband was "smoked out" they asked some of the more intimate questions you could imagine - stuff that made me want to vomit. The people we were meeting with were people I barely knew - BT, JM and I forget who else - mostly BT did the asking - it wasn't like anything I'd ever been through. They even wanted to know what we were thinking about when we had sex - how we did it - etc. I remember one thing they said which I thought was sort of stupid. There was 13 years difference between hubby and I. For me it wasn't a big deal because there was 26 years difference between my parents - no biggie. We married when I was 21 and he was 34. Anyhow, they said that he was attracted to me at that time because I wasn't a "woman" - at 21 I was still girl-like, which to him could have been "boy-like" if he thought about it the wrong way... I thought that was stupid - they never asked they just "went there" - a trap. ============ Not to derail the thread - I have a copy of my Corpse application, including the physical. They didn't ask for details - just a checklist more or less for the doc - it's like a page long - that's it. This is from 1990....
  12. Snow Bird -- I think you have an EXCELLENT idea and think that it was inspired by god (I'm not going to say which god) but do think you & Mike should take action on it before someone else does it! Here's your hat - what's your hurry?
  13. Something else I thought of with this other doctorinal section.... Wouldn't that be a heck of a lot more work for you, Paw?
  14. I voted to leave it here BUT BUT BUT BUT would like to add that I WISH PEOPLE WOULD (a) DO A BETTER JOB OF NAMING THE THREAD (b) DEFINE THEIR M.O. IN THE FIRST POST. I really don't want another section that I won't visit anyhow. If people thought a little more about their first posts then I could figure out what's worth my while or not. Sometimes I can figure that out just by who the author is...
  15. It's called "The Present Truth", to be exact. You take PFAL - Foundational, Intermediate - then repeat those, plus Christian Family & Sex, Acts Weekends, you-name-it - then you're eligible for the Advanced Class. Suddenly, the cult you're in decided that PFAL is an "old wine skin". New classes, new language and you're back to square one. You're looking for answers, for truth, for better understanding. They're looking for more ways to get your money, to keep you in their sphere of influence - for you to be their disciple - NOT Jesus Christ's! Another prime example is how Martin Luther brought the Bible to the layman. The Roman Catholic church had Bibles - but not in a way that John Doe could read it - a purposeful languarge barrier to keep the layman dumb. Luther brought the Bible to everyone - the way God intended it. Then along comes a preacher man from New Knoxville who says he wishes we could read it in the "original text".... And you're back to square one...
  16. igotout-- good points you've made there. I have seen one of these babies in person - one of the tech guys at work has one. I like the all-in-one feature - no tower, really. It's nice to work with - but then again, I work for a non-profit & any computer under 5 years old is a treat to work with. Yes, the monitor is tiny... I was mostly into the large hard drive, tho. It does have 2 USB ports on it. I only have a camera that I plug in at this time - but still that's not something I'd really considered. I haven't really considered a "gaming" machine at the time because the one's I've looked at (Dell, etc.) had little memory - and the ones with memory were expen$ive. Thanks again for the input - I'm going to check this out some more
  17. I've been shopping and have come across refurbished computers. I'm liking this one alot and the price is nice - under $1K, but the processor speed is less than what John (igotout) mentioned. Thoughts? http://www.gateway.com/reman/hm_Profile_10...Profile_4.shtml
  18. What's the difference between: DVD+RW or DVD-RW? Also, Dell is offering a duel CD-RW package - two internal drives - what's the point? Can you burn music CD's on a DVD burner drive?
  19. Good suggestions - I've been looking at Dell and it seems that people either swear by them or swear about them. I already have some great speakers but they're waaayyy out of place with the old clunker machine I have them hooked up to. (Also, another reason why I don't care for bundles - they give you crap speakers, keyboards and mice that cost them very little!)
  20. I NEED a new computer but want to get the most bang for the buck. My old one is NOT upgradable - it's a POS and about 6 years old. I'm open to bulding one OR buying something already built (not necessairly a bundle, tho) It has to be a PC (not a MAC). It has to be upgradable (memory, processor, etc.) later on. I have my computer on about 30 hours (in use) per week. Here's what I use my computer for: lots of graphic design - scanning and re-touching photos, creating presentations, word processing (I have 5 word processors that I use), designing data bases, doing mail merges, etc. This is about 70% of the time it's on. internet use - we have DSL. I'd like to have a wireless connection. Ditto for networking, later on. other uses - some games (even my toddler's CD-ROMS don't work on the old machine), some CD burning (must have a CD-R). I would like to do more with MP-3's/CD's, etc. What do you recommend? THANKS BUNCHES!
  21. Some of the still-shots in that video were OLD pictures from Way Rags YEARS ago - like some of the hhf pictures. I remember seeing those from years ago. Rosie Fart Roofinbark looks horrible - so does a former Singin' Chick of TWI - man, time has not been good to them. What kind of return on the investment of $29K do you really think they're going to get from this? I'd be totally p.o.'ed as a believer if it was my money funding that! .
  22. Colleen -- Check this out - it's an art film done about D2's RT: http://www.filmthreat.com/Reviews.asp?Id=158
  23. Colleen -- Are you a product of the '80's or what? I agree, a reunion with all the members of D2 would be worth the price of admission. Roger Taylor kind of flew over the cuckoo's nest, didn't he? There's some interviews with him on the web where he says he just kind of went off, got married, had a bunch of kids and never left the house, or so it sounds. I believe TFF is still together - they did a UK album not too long ago. Remember OMD? I would love to see them get together again! Ditto for Talking Heads. VH1 did fulfill one fantasy - seeing A Flock of Seagulls get back together was wonderful! I stayed up waaayyyy past my beddy-bye time for that one! I think Morrisey needs to get back together... HA!
