We do something like that here, too. It's in tanks and alive. The kids treat the grocery store like an aquarium - there's displays of lobsters in the middle of the deli/seafood dept. aisle.

You mean anthropods? (i.e. spiders?) Yes, but I'm afraid spiders wouldn't be very tasty when steamed and dipped in drawn butter. If the clams tasted like erasers they were probably clam strips - without the bellies - and/or overcooked.

I remember the tape that LCM sent out to household fellowship coordinators and their assistants back in 1999, when we were told, "Stay off the internet!" It was then that I KNEW something ugly was brewing. So, I went on the internet to find out what it was! Viva Waydale! More than once, on this very forum and on Waydale, I have thanked LCM for that bit of advise. Because if I hadn't been curious as to what was going down (no pun intended...) that I wouldn't have found Waydale. Of course, no one on Waydale talked me into leaving TWI but I did learn that there's life after TWI and finally saw how badly we were all being manipulated. Of course, Mathman was blamed for my leaving TWI - and I left before he and I had even met. Shows you what they know, eh? I got the back-handed comment once of, "You were such a great believer once and we really thought you'd go in the Corps and really make something of your life. Too bad you got tricked." I can't tell you what I said as a response because the filters on the forum will bleep it out.... It was on Waydale that MANY innies were able to learn what was really going on. They stopped asking leadership what had happened or why because they got their answers from a much better source. Waydale was the only true outlet that many of us had to get our information. We often were told "it's none of your business!" or "why do you want to know?" or "you'll find out what you need to know when you need to know it!" TWI Gestapo shouldn't have been surprised when people sought other sources for their information - as we were treated no different than those in a communist state when all media is filtered - there's still going to be that need to have answers, regardless of the cost. IF TWI Gestapo had been smart, they would have answered the questions, offered apologies to the masses and availed themselves of true repentance. Since they were well taught by VPW, who cried "grace" with every ungodly offense his manhood and mouth ever made, they didn't even try to take ownership for what happened - and it wasn't all LCM that brought the shame on them - Remember, there was Ram0n@ Bid0n and others, a ring of people, who helped to procure women for the king's pleasure. How@rd @llen was well aware of LCM's transgressions - and @llen was no saint himself, remember. How could Rico or ANYONE explain all that? It's slothfulness that they dismissed the questions and they got away with it - but at a cost.

Seems we have a basic menu here along with offers for people to bring drinks or help. We can procure the food but can't afford to foot the bill for everyone. I can come up with a very reasonable cost (around $10/per person, I think) for food. That would be lobster, chowder, clams/muscles, boiled potatoes, corn on the cob, smoked sausage, rolls, salad, and pie, cake, etc. for dessert. Does that sound fair? If someone wants more than one lobster, they can kick in the cost (about $5/ea right now) for an extra beastie. If you're sleeping over, breakfast will most certainly be available - Mathman does an awesome breakfast and loves cooking for folks! As we say here in New England.... What say you? (By the way - Kristopher is asking me if any kids are coming along... If there's any G'Spotter Kiddos, they're welcome too!)

We can always throw in some smoked sausage or brisket or whatever tickles your fancy. My oldest doesn't like lobster now (he loved it when he was a toddler - absolutely pestered us if he saw we were eating a lobster roll - how did he know it was good???) and Andreas screams and runs from them, "MONSTERS!" So, yeah... it doesn't have to be all shellfish. We can improvise. If it rains, we have a large open concept kitchen with a bar that seats about 8 people and a sunroom (enclosed) that would seat another 6-8 people. We're good on indoor space, too. We also have a long farmer's porch (smoker's room!). But there must be BEER. Beer is proof that God wants us to be happy. Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, Guinness, Sam Adams Double Bock, and whatever else.... Oh, yes... How can I forget.... Guitars. Bring your instrument, if you play one. We do have some amps (three for guitar, one for bass) for those who like to plug in. We have a piano, too (it's a clunker, tho).

Well, last weekend in September looks good here... 9/27-28. Because it's the school year we could only have guests here for Saturday night (overnight) and we can put up about 4-6 people on beds/sleeper sofas. We don't have a ton of land but we do have a small town beach on Lake Winnipesaukee. We might be able to swing a fire permit there... If not, there is a Christian campground that might allow us to use their site and bbqs (it's the oldest camp in the USA - very neat history to that place!) Paw - how long are you gonna be dieting? Anyhow, let me know what might work for you... we may have some options here....

It's already 54 degrees at night here - the temp isn't a problem... it's going to be between 53 - 57 degrees each night this week. Getting a fire permit on a public beach would be a problem.... We do have a nice stream by our house that can count as "ambiance" and we do live at the foot of the biggest lake in New England. Lobsta is about $5.99/lb right now and steamers (clams) run about $3.99/lb. Corn is being harvested right about now and blueberries (pie!) are in season. In another month it will be apple season (more pie!)

The TX BBQ has me thinking... And we've mentioned this before.... But I'm wondering if some of the east-coasters would be into a New England clam bake get-together? We're in NH - and it doesn't have to be here - but we could host the event. I'm thinking something in late September.....?? What say you?

Isn't that the heart of it all, tho? Really... It was up to THEM to be HONEST with US - the believers. Now we're trying to hash it out here in cyberspace... But it's not just this issue - it's a million other issues to the tenth power, isn't it? This is just one of many. Maybe because it's "one of many", it's easier to say, "Yup, they lied." Considering the man's lifestyle, I'd probably bet money that the cancer was one of several co-morbidities the man had going on.... let's not forget he was a smoker and a drinker... neither of those items are sold in healthfood stores or prescribed by your doctor....

This isn't directed to any one poster here but... why does it matter so much HOW he lost the eye? It's well known that TWI often covered up issues to make the ministry look good. I don't think anyone would argue that we were often lied (intentionally or unintentionally) to about real issues. It's well known there was a myriad of contradictions between what was taught and how leadership actually "lived" the Word. Very few of the upper echelon walked the talk and even saying "very few" is giving credit to a lot of people. It's well known that there are many "urban legends" about VPW, like he was a spiritual Paul Bunyan or something. Who knows what the real truth is about how/why he lost his eye. Maybe it's because I was part of TWI II or something... maybe it's because I never met VPW or was around during this but... I just don't get what the big fuss is about, really. None of it is news. It's certainly not the greatest secret in the world today...

Whether Rico believed what he was saying or not is a moot point. He had to sell the company line and the man did his job each day he knew he wasn't fit for work anywhere else after working for TWI. His being the PRC for TWI was probably the highlight of his career.

Airline ticket prices aren't bad - I just checked tixs from Manchester, NH to Dallas, TX and found it would be about $230 roundtrip. Not bad at all. That being said, we're installing a new propane heater to combat the cost of heating oil right now and we are beyond broke.... I will join by Skype, if that's an option....

Eight years ago today, Hubby and I tied the knot in front of about 30 close friends and relatives and a justice of the peace. A house, two babies, two cats, a dog, and several guitars later.... here we are.... The "babies" are now 7 and 3 years old.... Where did those 8 years go? It seems like yesterday!

Kristopher and his daddy had a great time at the game. Hubby told me that about 1/2 way through the fourth inning, Kristopher just wrapped his arms around Hub's neck and squeezed him tight with a big, "Dad, I love you!" moment. Hubby says Kristopher was just bouncing in his seat and they had really good seats, by 2nd base. Kristopher can't wait to go again. GO FISHER CATS!

Not sure how to explain this.... Here's the Readers' Digest Version of it.... My mom had my two older sisters before she was 18 and had put them up for adoption. She had me when she was 30 and raised me. My sisters are 10 and 13 years older than I am - I'm 37, so you do the math. My sisters both found my mother when I was 10 years old - I had NO CLUE that I had sisters and was tickled pink! I love my sisters! They were both in the military - the oldest one was in the Army and the younger one was in the Navy (Nato). I haven't seen my oldest sister in 22 years (I was 17 years old), but since this year is her 50th b-day my other sister (the one who's 10 years older) and I will be flying out to Chicago on 8/9 to see her for 5 days. She lives in Iowa, just 3 hours from Chicago. She's married and has two boys - ages 15 and 11. Anyhow... As you can probably imagine.... going 22 years without seeing someone and then "dropping in" is a little awkward. We made the arrangements several months ago but now it's coming right up, as I'm flying out on Friday afternoon. This is going to be interesting.... 22 years is a long, long time.
