I'm working with PageMaker for a client and they want an old file converted to a PDF in reader's spreads for web publication. I'm having some computer problems and really need to get my machine into the shop before things get worse... Anyone here know PageMaker (aka RageMaker)? This is on a PC, BTW - not Mac (unfortunately...) Please let me know or email me at jarg@metrocast.net. I'm willing to HIRE someone to convert this for me - I'm having too much trouble (and too little time) to deal with this anymore... I'm one tired momma! THANKS!

When I lauch any MS application (Word, Outlook, etc.) I am greeted with the splash screen then the Microsoft Office XP Professional config window pops up. This problem just started today. The next window that comes up tells me it's looking for the CD or other removable disk that isn't available. (I don't have the CD - I got it from a previous employer!) I'm asked to insert the disk & click OK - of course I have to click cancel cuz I don't have the disk... Then I get error 1706 i.e. go to C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice 101033setup.hlp. I went to this file path to see what it says and it's about as clear as mud - I can't figure out what I need to do to make this @#^%$# window go away. Please help! This is driving me nuts! THANKS!!!!! p.s. I've rebooted several times - it won't go away!

You must be thinking of the squirrel hunts that Howard Allen would have when the little buggers were getting out of hand and blowing up transformers causing power loss... They were the suicide bombers of HQ...

My favorite "blow off" was to go "witnessing" with someone who was as not into going witnessing as I was - especially if it was mall witnessing! There were a few people in my area in MA who thought that the confontational style of witnessing was as bad a way to witness as I did - (If you never had the pleasure, it's where you write 3 or 4 scriptures about debt or homo being wrong and walk up to a stranger and ask them what they think about the subject. Then you slap 'em with the card with the scriptures on it. I NEVER saw fruit from this - no matter who did it!) Anyhow, we'd turn the time into a fun time - ice cream, window shopping and chat-chat-chat - it was recreational! If leadership was in the area, I'd strike up a conversation with a clerk about something (Nice weather, eh?) Then, we'd get back to the meeting place and bitch about how unmeek people were that day... HA! Mall witnessing rocked!

Let's face it. There were some damn stupid rules we had to follow at times - especially if you were in TWI2. I especially hated how any "suggestion" that was made by leadership was to be considered "excathedra" (from God) and therefore had to carried out to the letter of the law. Leadership took itself way to seriously! I blew off preparing for Y2K (unless a few extra groceries counts), and didn't always fill out the paperwork to go visit my mother in the next state (she was just 90 mins. away). I took an, "Ask-me-no-questions-and-I'll-tell-you-no-lies," standpoint. If I wasn't asked about it, I didn't volunteer the information. Ironically, I never got caught - I did get in trouble for some things I did that leadership told me to do or was in the protocols they had set up!!!! (Boneheads!) At those times I did fight tooth-and-nail - of course, I was told I was being "defensive" when I tried to defend myself... (They could never consider that they had wrongly accused me and ....ed me off...) As someone who was not a total conformist to every little thing that leadership wanted, I always enjoy a good story from others who dodged the rules and thought for themselves. What did you do or know that others did to defy, dodge or even (hee hee) deceive?

Thanks for the sweet comments, everyone! We're doing well. Kristopher, aka "Big Brother" has had his moments in dealing with his new sibling. We knew he would - he'd been the only grandbaby on both mine & hubby's side of the family. His first reaction when we asked him if he wanted to meet his new brother was, "No tanks. Not right now." (He's 3 1/2 years old - at least he was polite about it...) Andreas is doing very well. We just had our first doctor's appointment today - one week after being discharged from the hospital. He has gained 13ozs and grown 3/4"! That's a lot of growth in one week! He's a pretty simple baby - eats every 3 hours like clockwork and seldom fusses unless he has to burp and I can't wheedle it out of him... As for me, I'm doing fine - could always use just a little more sleep but what mother wouldn't say that, right? Thank God for those super vitamin B complex tablets and coffee! Zoom, zoom, zoom!

Andreas John was born on Monday, Feburary 14 at 1:25pm 8 lb, 19.5 inches Andreas has a big brother, Kristopher George, who is very excited about his little sibling (at the moment, anyhow... I expect that will change...) and we're doing well! p.s. If you're wondering about the name Andreas, it's the Greek version of the name Andrew.

Steve! Please accept my apologies if I offended you. There's no ill-will meant by my comment. Let me clarify my previous post - It's saddens me that this thread has gone in the direction that it has considering the situation (accident/cover-up) that it was intended to shed light on. Both things I mentioned are tragic - yes, certainly the accident and a young lady's death the *more tragic event* of the two. The thread has been more than distracted from the poster's intent and, in my opinion, soiled. Doesn't Rochelle deserve better than this? What about some of the people named who showed integrity during this time? More has been said about the building of that $%#%$# trailer than the reaction or lack of action by LCM/VPW, etc. That's tragic. I have a personal interest in this story because I knew some of the WC people mentioned in HCW's posts. I had no idea about the accident, as it was never discussed. It put one of them, especially, in a very different light for me. Many things were never discussed, come to think of it - not just this. Steve - again, I am sorry. Thanks for listening.

satori001- I asked you an *honest* question and thought I had made clear that I did not want to engage on the issue. Your response further proves you are not capable of taking what people write at "face-value", but at this time you are seeking opportunities to lash out at others as you see fit on this thread - regardless of whether or not they are lashing out at *YOU*. Your response to me was rude and uncalled for, considering my post to you. I clearly stated my intent and my motives. If you read anything differently then *YOU* read into my post. I found your comment interesting but since it wasn't backed up with evidence, I wanted to know what made you think and state what you did. That's not what I asked for. My handle is ChasUFarley and has been for over 5 years. You knew that when you posted earlier. You also knew I asked *YOU* a question - not anyone else. If I want to know more about another poster's posts, I will ask them. What is motivating you right now to be so vindictive? I don't know which is more tragic - the LEAD accident/coverup or the direction this thread has taken...

satori001 -- In an earlier post you suggested that it seemed like CSW was being "coached" in his posts about the LEAD accident. I would like to know what made you think that there was any coaching? (Details, please.) I would also like to know what you think CSW (or whomever is behind/with him) has to gain by finally addressing the details of this horrible accident? (Honesty, please.) Please do not take it that I'm "out to get you". I disagree with your actions at this time but you are the person who will be held accountable for them. I simply want to know why it was so important that you posted what you did about CSW being coached. I do not wish to "get into it" with anyone. Thank you. Peace. Out.

Client-Based Search Spiders (Agents)
ChasUFarley replied to ChasUFarley's topic in Computer Questions
holy code! (John - that last link in your post rocks!) Thanks again to everyone who has helped out with this. The client I'm working with decided to bring the "spider" issue up at the 11th hour and almost put me into labor! I wanted this project off my desk weeks ago but he has kept tweaking this or that... then the email issue. I didn't know what to tell him but knew who would have the straight answers I needed... Thanks again! -
Client-Based Search Spiders (Agents)

Wow - you guys are incredible! I just have one question about the ASCII code in this - I've designed this thing using a word processing program - Quark, to be exact. I feel silly for asking this but won't the ASCII code be text - not code - when I replace the "@" text in the layout? Thus, I would also have the ASCII code in the PDF.... Right? -
Client-Based Search Spiders (Agents)
ChasUFarley replied to ChasUFarley's topic in Computer Questions
Oh, great. This client's directory has over 300 email addresses in it... I don't want to consider the possibilities What if the directory is password protected so that only members with the password can view the document? I'm wishing I'd never heard of spiders.... -
I have a clint who has had me design a directory for them that they plan to publish on the web. It will be in pdf on their web site. They are concerned about internet spiders getting their email addresses and sending them spam. I did some checking about this on my own and it seems that the email addresses would have to be a hyperlink for the spiders to find them. Is this correct? Can I honestly tell my client that the pdf will be just fine and they won't be getting emails about "the little blue pill" tomorrow? THANKS!

I never really got into ebay until just a couple of weeks ago. I started getting obsessed with getting a new crib set for the baby but found the prices of those things were more than I'd pay for a king-sized bedding set! I bid and won my first auction last week - paid $46 + s&h for a NEW 6-piece crib set that usually retails for $98+ on other web sites. It's already shipped and I should have it by Tuesday. I can't believe it! I can see how people get hooked on ebay - it was a lot of fun when the final bids were going on. Anyone else have a good win or loose story? p.s. Extra points if you bid on that gawd-awful grilled cheese sandwich that looked like Mother Mary! :D-->

Shellon is right. As someone who works in a rural hospital, I can tell you that there are many programs that are funded by the Feds that will pay for your tests. It actually SAVES a hospital money to do these screening tests for uninsured or underinsured patients than it is for them not to do them. Otherwise, they have acute patients with little/no insurance draining the resources of a rural hospital, resulting in a pile of bad debt. There are pleanty of programs for men, too. Don't forget about colon screenings. If you call your local hospital, ask for a care manager or social worker department. They will either have the programs in place or know who does. Often times hospitals will be aware of who offers what for programs, if they don't happen to offer it. Of course a non-profit hospital will be the most likely to have these programs... p.s. Some of the programs aren't just for people over 40 or whatever - some have a clause for people who have a family history of a certain disease - don't let age stop you from getting the tests you need.

'Tilda - That is too funny! Not to derail this, but I knew someone who had a basset hound named "Spirit". For Halloween they put a t-shirt on him that had "You Know Me"... ...he was a "familiar Spirit".....

Belle... I love you, but this is one sick relationship already.... p.s. My son yells "Dwarf toss!" when he wants me to throw him up in the air and on the bed....

This kid was raised in the public eye, taught from the cradle that he was going to be king someday, schooled at the finest schools in Europe and you really think I'm going to believe this was a social faux pas? I have no pity for the bloody little twit or think this was a "misjudgement" on his part. He KNEW it would cause a stir. He's the Paris Hilton of the royals - no brains, lots of money and everyone knows his name. BIG WHOOP.

6. I drink the juice at the bottom of the pickle jar after all the pickles are gone. 5. I envy black widow spiders because they get to eat their mate and don't have live with them throughout their pregnancies. 4. Not only do I not fold underwear, I don't sort socks or make my bed (unless my mother is coming over).

I only had my paternal grandmother and my maternal grandfather. They were Grampa Smith and Granny Furgason. My son only has his paternal and maternal grandmothers - they are "Yia Yia" and "Nina". Yia Yia is Greek for grandma. Nina is his own little creation - she is Nana to all the other grandkids but mine (but then he calls his father "Dah-doo".)

10. I modeled once in a fashion show. 9. I never tried pot until after I left TWI and wish it was legal somehow (but I'm a good law-abiding citizen - don't get me wrong.) 8. I didn't know Michael Hutchins had died until long after I left TWI (the 80's crowd, like Belle, will know who I'm talking about.)

Where do I begin? Husband was taught not to trust wife, daughter not to trust mother, etc. all in the name of the "present truth" and "strength in the household". Family members often turned each other in to leadership and were considered "spiritually sharp" for doing it by the local leadership. Couples with marital problems would go to their local Way Corps person for help because going to any other type of counseling was considered less than the best. The couple would receive counsel from people with a two year, non-clinical degree, who often times had way more problems in their own lives than those of the people they were supposedly helping. In my personal experience, my husband was taught to rely on local leadership so much when it came to anything about our marriage that seemed to be a problem, he came to the point where he couldn't make a decision without calling them. They were so embedded in our marriage that I felt like I was married to all them, too - they knew as much about what was going on in my life at that time that my then-husband did. Since there wasn't even "locked box" guaranteed within the relationship of marriage, how could one spouse openly disclose their deepest feelings about the ministry to the other? Anyone remember LCM's rant on the Leadership Tapes that were ran in the late 80's, early 90's, about how many of the power-couples who left TWI were "taken out by the adversary" because of the wife?
