    From Cowgirl

IF she's a mom? Holy moly, you've been up to sun-thin, haven't you, jonny? LOL She's definitely a mom, jonny - no doubt about that! Meanwhile, very cool stuff - so fun! Happy Mother's Day!
  5. I don't like coffee that's over 15 minutes old. I don't like how expensive it was to get the garage door people to come and fix my opener when it was one lousy loose wire, took him less than one minute to fix, yet cost me big for the housecall. I really liked it when he sold me another remote control opener for $20 instead of the $50 he was supposed to. Even more I didn't like when I couldn't open or close the door unless I did it manually. The weatherman predicted 5 inches of snow for northern WI night before last and they only got a dusting. My ex didn't like that either. I think there must be a secret to using rechargeable batteries. I have 3 sets for my camera, yet I always seem to be changing them out. I also don't like undercooked hash brown potatoes. I hope I don't see any on my plate today.
  6. My heartfelt wishes for a sweet and peaceful day for you and your family! I'm so glad you're here! You're a wonderful addition to GreaseSpot!
  7. Very cool - great entertainment!
  8. I've been thinking about her too. I saw her birthday listed below and it reminded me to pray for her husband and family, her dogs, and of course, you and all of us here. I miss her too. I'm glad I got to know her the little bit I did. I remember her telling me that you and paw were good guys. She was proud to know you both.

I'm dying here! You're so right! It WAS the fear of red drapes in the heart of that mother... It's all so clear to me now!!!

Oh Doveman, I'm worried you've gone over the edge this time!!! This stuff is hysterical!
  11. This is great news! I'm so happy for both of you!
  12. Hey Hopefull, I didn't know we're the same age - bet you're a real glamour girl like me! I don't have anything to add to the words that have been said, as I think they've hit all I could say and lots more, so I'll just send you a hug for now. ((((((((((Hopefull))))))))))
  13. Woo hoo! I hope it's a great one!
  14. I've just listened to the first 20 minutes and I wish I could stay and hear the rest! This is really good stuff. I always love to hear sudo and paw speak. I love accents and dialects. I was especially taken with what oak said about people having good minds, just not exercising them. I'll definitely have to think on that some more, as well as paw's comment about critical thinking. And Raf, I always read your posts - you always seem to have something worthwhile to say. I respect each of the 5 of you - what a treat to hear you all laughing together. George - A special thank you for not farting as obviously and loudly as you could during this first one-third of the discussion. I, for one, appreciate that.
  15. Well Hell, Belle, What happens in Kansas City STAYS in Kansas City!!! Doveman, I wondered about that - which is why I said I'll have to check it out prior... think we could do it during the day withOUT bodyguards?
  16. One of these days in my travels I'll have to check out 12th Street and Vine to see if there's a good spot for tourist type photos. We could get a bottle of Kansas City wine and take campy pictures of each other on that corner, singing the song. I'm thinking we might want to get some ribs, Kansas City style - especially in honor of our Memphis gal, suda! I just opened up a tourist magazine (called goin' to Kansas City, the ultimate visitors guide, so they oughta know) and it says "18th and Vine is the fabled jazz district of the 1930's and that it's enjoying a rebirth as the home of the American Jazz Museum, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the Gem Theater, the Blue Room nightclub and several restaurants." There are several art museums and unique shops in Kansas City. There are several casinos. One museum that might be fun to walk through is the Arabia Steamboat Museum. The magazine I quoted says "this is one of the most entertaining venues in town. Two local families invested everything they owned to excavate and recover the contents of the fully loaded steamboat Arabia, which sank in 1856 on the Missouri River. It's all on display in this privately operated museum in the City Market, 400 Grand Blvd." I've heard real good things about this museum. There's a great steakhouse called Hereford House, there's a Melting Pot, some awesome ribs places we could choose from, etc... The Crown Center is a fabulous mall for peoplewatching, as well as shopping or eating. I believe that's where the carriage rides start out. Anyone have any druthers or something they just plain don't want to do? I don't recall hearing of any top name bands coming to the area that weekend, but I'll look around some more and see what I can find for something to do when we're not lounging and vacationing. CW - maybe we could go eat at that buffet place this next week or so that I mentioned to make sure the quality is still up there (wink, wink)
  17. fabio, you're such a tease!!!

    Farewell

I appreciate your courtesy in letting us know you're leaving. That was really thoughtful of you. I wish you well. I'm glad you stopped in. Thanks for bringing that book up, as I didn't notice it before and it looks like something I would benefit from reading. I found it on half.com for 95 cents plus shipping and ordered it. I'm looking forward to reading it. Please feel welcome to come on back anytime.
  19. Wow! This is great stuff! Thanks!!!
  20. That's where we live, abi! We moved to Lathrop, MO - population 2092. This town is great for raising kids. We use walkie talkies when my daughter leaves our yard, but she's been able to ride her bike to the park 3 blocks away and takes the dog for walks, without me at her side or driving behind her. I put a privacy fence around our back yard and we have a mini park back there, so again, she can go out and play, play, play in safety. I can work in the house while she's playing outside. It's great. We've lived other places where I had to always be right with her and I think this way is nicer for us both. This is a major part of what I look for in terms of quality of life. We just returned home from a trip to the city. We left about 5 hours ago. When we pulled into the driveway, we found the garage door open. I really don't remember pressing the button on the opener in my car. I think I left that door open while we were gone and there is no sign of entry into the garage or the house! The door between the garage and the kitchen wasn't locked, either! C'mon down, there's room for more! We're half an hour north of Kansas City!!!
  21. Sorry, I've been away since before 6:00 this morning (field trip to the Omaha Zoo in the rain - surprisingly fabulous day!) or I would have answered you sooner. Yes, John Hartford was the lone banjo picker on Laugh-In, and played on the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour (I think it was called), as well as the writer of Gentle On My Mind. You may remember him better as the singer/songwriter of the classics "Boogie" (Hey Babe, Ya Wanna Boogie? Boogie woogie woogie with me...) and "Don't Leave Your Records in the Sun" (They'll warp and they won't be good for anyone...) Back when ChattyK had that megathread on music history, I think I remember several GSers mentioning enjoying his music. That's why I started this thread. Tomorrow after I've slept I'll post more.
